Uwell Crown II (V2)

I've read about that. Basically you just cut out the little bar in the chimney that they call a "spit-back mechanism," right? It allows for better airflow and flavor.

I don't own a Rafale, but I think I'm going to pick up the VRBA for it and use it in my Crown 2.

Speaking of which, does anybody know if/when Uwell plans to come out with more coils like a TC, RBA, or a Clapton? I know you can run TC on a mod in SS mode but my Spark only handles nickel and titanium. I can use my XCube II, but it's pretty ungainly for use all day.

Yup, you are right. A small needle nosed pliers does the job. Here's a video showing the best way to perform it.

I haven't used the Uwell VRBA, I'm a RDTA guy, but couldn't you make a nickel or titanium coil and use it in the VRBA? Or do those only support SS?

I'm sure a lot of you have already heard of this, and I apologize if it was already mentioned in this thread and I missed it, but I had amazing results with the Rafale after I removed the anti spit back mechanism. It was like a whole new tank for me. If you haven't heard of this and are dissapointed in the Rafale's flavor, search on YouTube "uwell Rafale anti spit back fix". It's easy to do and really enhances the flavor.

Yeah, it really improves the Rafale, too bad there isn't a fix for the lame top fill besides just taking it off the mod and bottom filling it.

The funny thing is when you remove the spit back guard there is no spit back, I get more spit back from the Crown II...lol. Uwell had to also make the chimney bigger to accommodate the size of the spit back guard so once you remove it the Rafale is a much airier tank than the Crown II.

Just based on a vaping performance standpoint, leaving out the top fill and non removable drip tip, I actually like the Rafale better when it has had the spit back guard removed than the Crown II.

I am using the VRBA from the Rafale in the Crown II, so far I would say I like it better than the premade coils. It already comes built so I haven't had a chance to re-build it yet. Definitely not the easiest to re-build from looking at it but from what I read it gets easier once you figure it out. I got my VRBA on sale from vaperoyalty.com for $2.95 but the sale is over and is now $8.95 http://www.vaperoyalty.com/uwell-rafale-vrba-head-kit/ I would keep an eye on there though, if they have a lot still in stock I would not be surprised if they have another sale on it.

I would up removing my spitback guard the way daniel did it, just used a flat head screwdriver and about 5 hits with my hammer popped it right out. Just make sure you do it from the back like Daniel mentions so you don't mess up the press fitting on the chimney.

The vapnfagan way works but if you put too much stress you can damage the press fitting on the chimney, Daniel's way is just a downward motion instead of twisting motion so less likelihood of compromising the press fitting.

Interesting. It says:
  • Short Description:Clapton Coil, Gold Plated connection, compatible with Arctic Tank
Lol...seen that before. Seems like a lot of vendors create duplicate pages and forget to change descriptions when populating. I heard Coilart has Crown coils now as well. Internet search will help you find more vendors. Or vapecrawler.

If it matters...I did speak with ecig directly and they did confirm with their warehouse that they only have the v2 versions of the Crown II coils available, and were not sure when they would get the v3 version (with the gray insulation band). I cannot personally speak on the differences as I've not had the v3 yet, but I have seen other posts and videos where people have said the v3 is better. Given the issues I am having with my Crown II coils, I think I will wait until there is a online supplier that gets the v3 version in stock (at present, I have found none, other than UWELL directly).

UWell's site listed all the Crown II coils as out of stock. I just got this tank and fired it up with the .5 that came included. Got to say I'm impressed. At 55W nice warm, moist, tasty.

I've had a couple coils crap out on me so far. It's weird, because they literally go from fine to burnt in one puff. I take a draw and get a great drag of vapor, then the very next time (20-30 seconds later) I get a horrible burnt flavor from the coil. All of the other brands of coils I've ever had including Crown 1s slowly degenerate into a state of less flavor/burnt taste, but these do it in a matter of seconds. The cotton still looks fine in them, btw. There's some buildup of gunk on the coil, but on the one I just threw away that this happened to, I could still see metal coil in some parts, so I know it's not coil goo. I've thrown out many a coil when I probably could have kept using them for another day or so because the flavor had become muted and I had plenty of replacements on-hand, but never before the coil was completely covered in black goop. I'm still going to stick with the tank because 85-90% of the coils I've used are lasting me just as long as the v1 coils do, but I look forward to trying out the v3 Crown II coils to see if they've fixed whatever strange issue it is that's causing this instant failure in their product.

That's exactly what is happening to my coils too. Cotton still white and can see parts of clean wire, rest is black gunk. Mine only lasting about 2 days, and still have ok flavor, but burns the throat if I keep using them, just like a burnt coil. I had ordered the .8's from ecig too, those are the ones I'm having problems with. I'm waiting for the V3 before I waste any more money.

From @Chris Peltz
If anybody ends up finding a source for the V3 please let me know. I'm in love with the .8 coils, but when they only last for 7-8mls, it sucks.

I found this video about fixing the Crown coils, I am pretty sure Daniel did the same thing, I posted his video second but not sure were in that video he talks about it:

Here is another video discussing the coils, haven't watched it yet:

I have been using the Rafale VRBA and it has been fine so not too concerned about ordering pre-made coils but maybe those video's will help you all out.

I spoke to a rep from UWELL and he was not able to comment on the differences from the version 2 to the version 3 coils but he did say the reviewers had it wrong about the gray 510 pin bands. The version 3 coils will still come with the black bands.

I finally got a bad coil last night and just got home from work so i had a chance to try this trick. It was super easy and the coil works like it should now. Although it took me until my seventh coil to get a bad one I'm glad I can fix them when I need too.

Can you tell just by looking at the placement of the positive lead that it is a bad coil? Or do the first six good coils you had look exactly like the seventh bad coil when you remove the gold base?

Had a coil go bad, tried the trick but no joy. So I pulled it apart and the wire has black gunk on the wire? The juice I put in it, or nasty wire?

I dont see how that fix is supposed to help. The Rafale coils were exactly the same as Crown 2, same design for the wire and how its connected. Only different is Crown coils are more dense.

The first six good coils just worked fine and I didn't look into them at all so no idea. That fix was short lived or placebo, either way it started tasting bad again. I'm actually having more trouble now which is weird because it was smooth sailing for a few weeks.

All my coils end up with black gunk on them when I'm done with them, it's actually how I know it's time to switch them out. I peek inside to get an idea when they need replacing.

That's good to hear. I'm all about flavor. I'm married and big clouds actually elicit annoying complaints from the wife so, of course, the TF-T8s (my favorite TFV4 coil and the only one I buy any more) is kind of a point of contention around my house. The Crowns aren't exactly stealth but at least you can still see the TV after a couple puffs.

I'm still considering the TFV8 but I'm waiting a bit for it to come down in price. My butt still hurts from all the cash I dropped testing all those TFV4 coils!
My husband is the same lol
Hates when I pull out big clouds when we r upstairs in bed at night he's like must you? Lmao
It's not on purpose either- it can fog up a room
He quit smoking cold turkey way before I started vaping- 7 years smoke free I'm 2-5 years vaping

Guy's I have a bit of an issue. I already invested in the tank of course. Unfortunately I got 8 packs of the bad coils! They work fine for a day. So I was ready to get the Herakles Plus. Meanwhile my vendor promises the new coils will be here Wednesday. I cannot build because I am disabled. The thing is I heard the Herakles leaks bad if you do not shut it off? That would be unacceptable to me.

Meanwhile I have a Rafale NI200 coil in the crown II. This is it folks! Right now I am blowing clouds like the TFV8. No kidding, plus I have stellar taste. You are wondering how? I am at 140 watts and 560F 8.9 ramp up with custom "hot" CSV. lol. The big problem is I cannot get any more Rafale coils locally. I will have to order them online. However, with this coil in there and these settings the thing is insane. The actual Crown II coils(at least the ones I have) suck. Any way you cut it, even good SS coils will not blow clouds like this Afaik.

So, if I want Ni200 should I get the Herakles Plus? I cannot have something that leaks more than usual though.

Thank you

My Herakles Plus tanks leak like crazy. It has gotten better by following some tips others have posted, but far from from leak proof. That said, I still love the tank and it's part of my daily rotation along with the Crown and Stentorian tanks.

Thank you. That is what I have heard about them. The Crown II with the .1 NI200 coil from the Rafale is great to me. I am 3 days on the coil. I guess I just need to order some more of these coils online and I am set for now. To me there is no comparison to the Crown II coils.

Chris Peltz

@GorGon27 - I will have to try the Ni Rafale coils. Did you change the base of the coil to use the new gold connector that's on the Crown II coils, or just use them "as is" in the Crown II? I haven't been too happy with the SS Crown II coils, so I may have to give these a try.

No doubt! To me at least no comparison but the Rafale tank sucked IMO. The Crown II fixed all that but the coils suck IMO. Go figure. No, I did not use the "bullet base" would not want to. The Rafale coils actually have much more airflow and are much more open at the base. They are indeed "gold" base as well. SS just never did it for me. Although if they offer a NI200 coil with the bullet base it may not have enough airflow to blow clouds with. AFAIK, that directs airflow not increases it. The problem for me is no local B&m has the Rafale coils. No biggie they are half the price online! I have really punished this coil and it is still going strong. I cannot say that about the Crown III .25 coils unfortunately. YMMV of course. I am blowing clouds like the TFV8! No kidding.

So, does anybody know of any US vendors that are selling the Crown II v3 coils? I guess I can go the Rafale route, but I was hoping that by now some online stores would have them in stock and I could just go straight to the "fixed," version 3 coils. Going straight to Uwell is not an option. I'm not paying $16.99 just to get coils that I should be able to get for $8.99 from many online shops.

I bought 6 packs from VapeNW last night as well. This is OT but I also ordered 480ML of great juice for $56 total. If anyone wants to know where I shall divulge. So last night was fun online Vape night here. Seeing as these coils should last over a week of heavy usage that should last me a bit.

I am telling you this tank with these coils is much better than getting the V3 coils IMO. However one caveat. I am aware some folks feel NI200 can be harmful to your health. I have no idea about that though. Let's be honest I doubt it is toxic and Vaping to begin with is not as healthy as nothing of course. Certainly either must be nowhere near as harmful as tobacco I reckon. I am kidding, I know all about this. I just wanted to put that out here about NI200 to be honest about what I have read. I personally am not worried about it. I just did not want anyone to feel i steered them the wrong way.

That being said, for one thing I prefer NI200 vastly to SUS316L. In the case of the Uwell V3 coils most certainly. All they did is fix them so they last more than Three hours with more Cotton. However, I still think they are very lousy. The good news is I feel pairing this tank with the Rafale coils is the best game in town right now. Flavor of the original Crown, Clouds like the TFV8,does not guzzle juice like the former and the coils last! What more can we ask for other than an RBA? I am speaking solely of the NI200 .1 Ohm Rafale coils. Not the SS or Kanthal ones! You will of course need a Temp controlled device that can hit at least 80 watts. I found with Escribe I can obviously tailor them much nicer than the Yihi devices Etc.

I am very surprised everyone did not already know this. Not being a snob but it is cool I am being a Pioneer! Not Pioneer4u mind you LOL.

Who sees packs of coils for $8.99? Hardly ever and certainly not the Rafale coils. If there are any left between Chris and I :)

vapewild.com You can get pretty much whatever you want. I would say pretty good juice not incredible. Certainly worth this price. Comparable juices are $20 for 30ML. Much better than most B&M's with a house brand and those are more money anyways. If you are weary just try 30ML. Free shipping on the 480ML. I like everything I have tried there. Don't expect a top shelf juice and you are fine. It is not bad at all though. Probably better than DIY too. unless you are very skilled.

Edit: I am not sure if posting links is against the rules. If so, I apologize Mods can remove it.

So fyi. I dont think i seen this yet on this post but uwell has outsourced coil production from the US to China. When this shift occured quality went to shit. The coils are made with a lower grade kanthal wire that is not heat treated before being inserted so as the coil blackens that is from chemicals on the wire itself not being burned off. I dont know if this is hazardous but it has definately made the first few hits taste horrible. Used an unflavored liquid to test this and in a old u.s. made crown coil no weird chemical taste. On the new china made coils the chemical taste was apparent and tasted awful. This does apply to the crown 2 coils as well.

Also as well if you do continue to use crown coils yoy can buy them in massive bulk i found the chinese manufacturer selling them for 60 cents a piece for 100 coils

If everyone is unhappy they may shape up. By far not everything made in China is junk. Like Westerners think. Many good quality products are made there. Just not everything. If you want cheap they can make cheap. They do have that option still. I do not care to get them for 60 Cents if they are junk. This is the SS coils as well? I mean that are junk now.

Just do what I said if you like NI200. Right now with those coils I do not see a better tank at the moment. No leaking, great flavor, huge clouds, lasts long. Cannot be said of the crown coils. As you guys just apparently figured out. Even the V3. I assume those are Chinese as well, and not actually improved much. TBH, this is so powerful I am choking on 3MG. Can only take like 1.5S puff at 80 watts and 500F. At 140 watts it is crazy. I am going to say if you can stand that, It will produce more than the TFV8 with Octo coils.

Well, if this guy is to be believed...

...then I just picked up several packs of Crown II v3 coils from eBay here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201628175436

As you can see, they have the larger UPC sticker he talks about. I'll post here once I receive them and compare them to the pathetic 1-day lifespan of the v2 coils.

Sorry to report I have those and they are just as bad. Unless some initial V3 were bad as well and going forward they are not. I hope so but no clue. The other coils are so good it hardly matters to me. Other than I wasted money.

I watched another youtube video posted above last night and it shows where the v3 coils have more cotton at the base than did the v1 or v2 models. Here's hoping I get some decent ones! If not, this is the last money I'll be spending on the Crown II. I'll stick with the 1 and probably pick up a Geekvape Eagle. Those are getting rave reviews and the coil selection is phenomenal!

Keep you fingers crossed for me!
