Oh the specs: dual 7 wrap coils, I think it ohmed in around .23 or .24. Ramped up pretty quickly a slight delay, the reward amazing. 28/36 all nichrome

Framed staple fused clapton I made yesterday. 5 pieces of 0.5mmA1 ribbon framed with 26gA1 and fused with 36gN80. 6 wrap on 2.5mm bit for 0.2ohm.

I did a framed staple a while back and loved it, I think mine was 5 .5 ribbons framed with 26g wrapped in 34g, and i parallel'd it with a 24g, oh boy I loved that build, I've been meaning to revisit it

I totally agree. If i mix Ni200 with Nichrome80 or even KanthalA1 I get an easier coil to wrap and less risk of cutting a lead but it DOES affect the accuracy of the temperature control on my ipv4 (even though the chip reads off of the Ni200... the lowest resistance wire).
For it to work I have to lower the temp cap to keep from burning cotton however it does heat up quicker and give me the warmer denser vape i am searching for.

SO... i am still searching for the best speciality coil for TC.
(BTW...I asked TwistedMesses and OhmboyOC to chime in. No reply yet. Maybe they are still experimenting too).

Alien/Clapton parallel build. 5/4 wraps respectively @ .08 ohms on a parallel mech box-safety first!!!
Just. Freaking. Awesome.
3x28/36g Aliens w/ 24/38g claptons.

Built this with 2x 30g/40g fused claptons as well, which was a tad cooler. The single 24/38g clapton is warmer, but not by any means hot. They just add a little "oomph" to the aliens that i love. The shot above with the top cap was taken after burning up about 20ml of juice, so they don't gunk up at all. The way the Alien coils wick juice is just mesmerizing, even after 3-4 days of chain vaping (60-80ml) they only begin to turn black and the cotton looks brand new. They do wondrous things with juice that no other coil does.
Anyways-i really like this build and it may be my go-to for a few weeks. Cheers!

I just got my olloclip in the mail. I'll post some pics of some 40 wrapped claptons later and show off some more scarecrow professional coils. I gotta order me up some wire in a couple weeks and try out some coils. I've been broke and out of wire for quite awhile.

I have been wrestling with making a flawless dual alien wire for some time now. I can pull it off with 24g and 32g (probably because it is so stiff). Anything thinner gauge would start to bunch and twist. THEN... last night i had a dream about it. (Yes, i know, it is sad that i actually dream about coil building). If i use a fishing swivel to unwrap the second clapton wire for a fused clapton why not a swivel also for the three core wires when doing the final wrap on the alien?

SO... i tried it. I cut and straightened my three core (a bit longer) for leave room to attach to the one end of the swivel. I used a large paperclip for other end of the swivel with the three wires running parallel in the other. I attached it to a hook and was able to get the final outer wrap to work without too much twist and minimal pinching.

I tried this method with 24g core (x3), then 26g core (x3), and finally a 28g core (x3) .and different gauges of outer wire Seems to help in each situation .

This alien is 34g Ni80 clapton'd around 24g KA1. De-cored, stretched and then wrapped the opposite direction around 3 strands of 26g KA1. 5 wraps running dual in my twisted messes rda comes to .13. ramp up time is amazingly quick despite so much wire.

MY ONLY COMPLAINT.... i cannot seem to keep the outer wrap tight as i wrap coils. They spread a bit. Any ideas?

Here are the 2 x forgot cores with 40 gauge wrapped claptons. They are worn a couple weeks usage but check out the photo the $13 olloclip makes folks

You can get one for any iPhone but you can't use it with any case or protector film on the phone. Just remove it when you use the olloclip then replace the case after snapping photos

These are some immaculate coils. You guys are the king of coils. I wanna learn to do this but I have a busy work schedule and silly hobbies like x box one, pic gaming/building and my car audio hobby. I may cut back on those to dedicate time to this. I have a hana modz 200 and I'd love a nickel or titanium Clapton.

I use a swivel for the super small aliens (28-30g cores) and it definitely helps. It also seems to help to tape a good inch on either end perfectly flat. I've also noticed that it works out better when i don't stretch the clapton wire enough than when i stretch it too far. If you stretch it too far then it wont catch on the two outer cores. If you don't stretch it enough you can apply more tension while wrapping it to get it to stretch over the cores nicely. But the swivel seems to help for sure, at least with the smaller cores. The biggest success factor for me is prepping the core wires. When i take my time prepping them i get much better results. Seems to affect the outcome more than any other factor for me

After loving the performance of the single coil framed staple build I posted I wanted to alter the specs slightly to run duals on my Sig 150.

This one is 2x28gA1, 5x0.5RA1, 36gKPN80. 6 wrap on 3mm for 0.15ohm

one of the challenges i am facing with alien wire coil is keeping it super tight in wraps when i make the coil. The outer alien wire wants to slightly space on me when i bend it to form a coil. Maybe it is just cosmetic but i think a tighter coil will be better. Thoughts?

I find with claptons if you fold the ends of your wire over and crimp them with pliers the clapton wraps don't space out when you are wrapping the coil. Give that a shot.

Thanks for the idea on how to keep the coils tight. Seems to work.

Here are two alien coils i made tonight....

The first is 3 strands of 28g Ni80 with 38g Ka1 wrap. 4 wraps (3mm) is .14 ohms
The second is 3 strands of 28g Ni80 and 38g Ni80. 5 wraps (3mm) is .15 ohms

i found starting with core wires of 24 was a good learning curve... then move down to 26.... and finally 28.

The vape on the 28 and 38 is really nice. SO much more than the 26 (which i did not expect). I also like the all nichrome one better.

so i just did a titanium build last night with spider silk 26g, 8 wrap around 3mm/ 1/8th diameter, .215ohms, on my ipv4 at 500-550 degrees 60-70joules, excuse my language but fuck nickel, A local shop owner gave me some of this to work with and im ordering more right now because now im gonna start experimenting, everything i do with nickel is just not performing, but this lil 8 wrap dual coil on my petri is amazing, nice warm vape, im excited

I'll be conducting some experiments once i get my stock of ti in, i ordered 30ft of spider silk 26g, and 10ft of sweet spot vapors ti-wire .5mm(24g), i'll let you know what i find, lol

Similar in comparison to nickel as far as resistance, so much lower then nichrome and kanthal, the only dangers i know of right now in my limited research and knowledge is when the wire oxidizes from dry firing or dry hits and you inhale it, as long as you do not dry fire it and keep your coils juiced up(which is much easier with temp control) your good to go, and titanium is gonna be the alternative for those who are allergic or having reactions to nickel

Here is a set i threw together last night. Someone named them Poseidon coils. Not sure why. Twisted 28gKa1 and 38Ni80 (claptons) and 24g Ni80 parallel. Heats up like staged heating coil. Dual was .10

Multi-core framed fused clapton.
30 strands of 40g KA1 framed in 24g N80. Fused up in 40g KA1. 6 wraps .14 ohms.
Took a slightly different approach to the core. I wrapped it in a single strand of 40g in an attempt not to have to twist it so much to hold it together. No noticeable difference in vape quality-but construction was a bit easier since the core was more smooth & even. I have really been loving these coils a LOT. Vapor is pretty dense, and flavor is totally on point. I also find these just plain fun to build. So there's that

I just got a boat load of wire in. Even gauges of kanthal and ni80 from 20-40. Been making a bunch of coils for VU folks and having fun. Yeah, my wife thinks I am a bit weird.

Tonight I knocked out some alien wire and staged heated using some pretty tiny wire. Gosh I wish my eyesight was better.

I hesitate to post a sloppy-ish build BUT humility is good for the soul. And Alien coils are good for my face!!!
28/38g Aliens alongside 28/38g fused claptons. First shot is for scale, these mf'ers are tiny. Someone hooked me up with a really nice swivel, so this was my first successful 28/38 alien attempt. I also changed the way i prep the wire which helps immensely! Anyways, onto the specs.....
Triple 28g N80/38g N80 Aliens
Dual 28g/38g N80 fused claptons
5 wraps/4 wraps respectively
2.4mm inner diameter clocks in at .09 ohms
Freaking heavenly vape. Every aspect is totally on point. Gonna try one extra wrap each next time, bring it up to about a .13 which is right where i like it. Nice balance of heat/flavor/vapor/battery life. Cheers!

Been having some fun with jumbo size fused claptons. They're an interesting vape, and i find them highly enjoyable.
22/36g fused claptons on the Anarchist Phenotype-L.

6 wraps around a 5mm bit comes in at .10 ohms. Good times!!

DickyT, I can relate to your challenges. Short story for you. About a year and a half ago i was in a bad accident. I lost 8 1/2 pints of blood and spent three weeks in a coma. The doctors said they doubted i would ever be the same as i had diminished brain activity and when they would try to wake me up i would go into grand mal seizures. Two days after Christmas a miracle happened. I woke up. I had to learn how to talk and walk again. After months of rehab today i am back to most of my activities of regular life (although still unable to go back to previous profession). SO.... i can honestly say that perseverance does pay off. (This sept i will do a 5K... fast walk, not run.)

Last night i just wasn't in the zone to build. It happens. Several failed attempts and plenty of wasted wire. Today i was challenged to give it another shot. I did a dual Staggered Stapled Fused Clapton with 5 strands of .5 Kanthal ribbon wire stacked inside, then staggered clapton with 26g Kanthal (with 36K loose wrap) running on the outside and finally tied together with 32g Kanthal A1. It took me about 2 hours and three attempts. It runs at .12 ohms on my ipv4 in my twisted messes rda and vapes at 90-100w amazing!

All I can say to those who want to learn... don't let anything hold you back from discovering the perfect vape. It is worth it.

I suppose i'll offer a little feedback since nobody else has haha! You're well on your way! I would definitely get my hands on some 36g or 38g for making claptons, the difference in flavor is absolutely astounding. Until then, try and wrap the two clapton wires absolutely as close together as possible-that way when you remove one wire you're left with perfectly even spaces to fuse them together. But for a first go with 32g thats not bad at all! There is a method for making these that is difficult to explain, when someone finally makes a youtube video for it i will certainly post it. But for now twistedmesses video remains the best video for these. In case you haven't seen it:
