It was intense for me partly because I was in a similar location in Africa, going back and forth for a while.I've hear about "The Machine Gun Preacher" from some of my other friends and seeing it mentioned here , will probably lead to me watching it later. I hope it is as good or even better than "Blood Diamond"
Just wrapped up Mockingjay. We liked it. Not sure why I heard so many bad things about it. Liked it better than the 2nd of the series, myself.
Well, on screen we loved it, I can tell ya that much. That's so cool dork, (she says lightly). You're really not a dork, I almost hate to call ya that. So you didn't like the 2nd one?I built a few of those sets. Haven't seen it on screen yet.
Also did the 2nd one. Marginally unimpressed.
It was okay. I expected more. I read the books and expected the screenwriting to be better. It seemed choppy to me. And, if I'm honest, I worked really hard on a lot of things that didn't get much play. Maybe I should watch it again.Well, on screen we loved it, I can tell ya that much. No worries. You're a great part of this thread. Feel free to participate as much as you like.It was okay. I expected more. I read the books and expected the screenwriting to be better. And I really don't want to hijack this thread because I work in the business. I just have a side view of some of these shows that most don't get to see.
About to watch Focus. Not a huge fan of Will Smith (actually kind of hate his acting) but willing to give this a chance. We'll see.
I only ended up seeing about half of it. It wasn't bad if you like con men movies, a bit implausible but it's paced well enough to suspend the disbelief. It was interesting enough that I definitely want to see how it ends. I wouldn't say it's "anything special" but it's not a waste of time either, I doubt you'll be bored with it.So what did you think of 'focus', my wife really wants to see it, but from the trailers, it doesn't look anything special to me.

He's pretty awesome. I don't know if it's regional, or not, but he's on insurance commercials here. Each and every one of them cracks me up.
I liked it. The science behind it is mind blowing and hard to wrap your head around though. Really makes you think.I got Interstellar last night, not watched it yet, nearly a 3 hour movie, so going to be a weekend movie to watch it, anyone see it yet, is it worth 3 hours of my life?
...is it worth 3 hours of my life?
I'd actually love to hear which films you've worked on and what to look for when I watch them, so I can say, "Hey, I kinda know the very cool dork who did THAT, right there," to anyone watching the movies with me.
I liked the Three Stooges. Endless Love, not so much. You can see my work in practically every shot of Prisoners, Flight, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, the Three Stooges (unwatchable), and I even made my own appearance in the remake of Endless Love(terrible) . Many others, but my stuff made the screen most in those few. I have been on screen myself in a few of those, but most is just my work. I make things look more realistic. I have worked many, including several popular tv shows. It may seem cool, but it is just a job to me now. I've met some great artists. Hugh Jackman is among the nicest I've met. Denzel Washington, not so much.
I have worked very hard for the privilege of doing stupid things, very cool stupid things. No, it's not about seem - building movie sets is an objectively cool job to have. That's not 'cause of meeting some movie stars (not that I'm too "cool" to admit it'd be fun to meet some of my favorite actors), but 'cause it's one of those jobs where I bet little boy dork would be psyched to find out he'd be doing that down the line, traveling around building worlds for the big screen, still regularly calling upon imagination. Plus, movies are exciting, making movies is exciting. Again, I think those who'd claim otherwise are just feigning "cool".
I'm totally adding some dork-built movies to the Netflix queue!
Thanks for the tip, will check it out.I am going to watch Robot Overlords: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2145829/
Looks pretty entertaining, I'll report back unless they come and get me.
You're welcome! Thanks for the tip, will check it out.
Can't believe I never heard of this before, with Gillian Anderson and Ben Kingsley no less. Probably will check it out tomorrow. You're welcome!

I watched, Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow. It is supposed to be animated, but it is staring Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie. The animation is really good considering that the movie is supposed to be a mix of tropes from the 30es and 50es. With the dashing, famous mercenary (Jude Law) the hot reporter always looking for a scoop (Gwyneth Paltrow) and the mad scientist who is bent over destroying the world.
All in all it wasn't bad, it sure was entertaining and bit of a whiff of fresh air. If you are for something a bit different, but don't want your mind to be blown this is the flick for you.
