So I bought my wife one of these... We have a clone Hadaly on the slow boat making it's way over. The stock RDA is crap IMO.

20170710_183132.jpg

I feel like, it's not putting out like it should. At 80 watts it hits super weak. I put her RDA on my device and it tasted like burnt cotton (woops she forgot to squonk it before letting me do that LOL). Second try post squonking, I popped it back on my device and it hit like a truck. My tank and device, vapes well at 80w. My tank on the Wraith, well, hardly produced any vapor at all. Now, the batteries we are using are fairly old. Like 4 or 5 years old but they haven't seen much use as most that time they were in a drawer and we were on the stinkies. I swapped out the battery and granted it did hit harder, but no where near to what I perceive 80w to be. I use both of those batteries in my mod on a daily basis and they seem to perform fine, as in consistant with what my new 20700's perform like in my mod.

Also, her whole device seems to be very warm. Is that normal?? She pretty much chain vaping it. On mine the tank gets hot sure, but my Goon doesn't get nearly as hot as hers and my Captain PD270 def never heats up.

Could I have purchased a dud?? Could my mod be putting out more than 80w or hers under? Is there a way to easily test that? Tomorrow we are going to purchase new 18650's from our local B&M and see if they are indeed the culprit. Any ideas, suggestions? Have you used one of these mods with any success/failure?

No real answer, but are you in plain old watt mode? The menu is a bit hinky...
There's a soft or medium or fast mode to choose too, or something like that - that ramps you up to preference - that does make a difference, though it wouldn't explain all your trouble.
Also, I agree that atty is crap, and you'll want to find a good "reference" rda maybe til you get this figured out!

I have one of them, use it in TC with SS wire, it is fine. I know it doesn't really answer your question, but let's see if @shawn.hoefer will pop in with any ideas. What @Train mentioned about the pre-sets as well as the soft, standard and power, it is a crazy way of allowing you to squeeze a bit more power from a wattage setting. Makes as much sense as tits on a bull, but there you have it. Nice mastiff, btw.

A battery that is 4 to 5 years old wouldn't be anymore than 10A, I'd get it changed first. The efficiency of the Wraith is very poor, it eats batteries quickly and does warm up quite a bit with chain vaping. If you are planning to run it at 80W, I can see maybe 45 minutes of vape time.

You can test the output by measuring the voltage on the coil posts with a meter. Convert the measured voltage to watts with V²

Thanks folks appreciate the replies. I have armed my wife with Mooch's list of approved batteries and she is heading to the B&M tomorrow lol. Even if what they carry isn't on the list we will get what they have as temp solution and order safer batteries online.

@BrewBear Thanks! I love my Mastiffs to pieces. They are the best dogs I've ever owned and couldn't imagine life without them.

I'll drag it out tomorrow and play with it some. It's been a week or so since I've touched it...

Do the supersoft 8.5 ml bottles fit in a wraith or vt inbox? I know I've asked a similar question before but I found some for sale and can't find the previous question.

Doesnt the Wraith have a nipple top bottle. I dont think it can take supersoft bottles because they use the tube but the wraith has a bottle where the nipple at the top slides into the top housing in the mod. I sold mine but i think i remember that being the case. Maybe someone else can give some insight.

Definitely not inbox and I don't think wraith I sold mine also but if my old mind remembered I don't think so. But you can get cheap oem replacement on gearbest for vt

Both of you are correct, the Wraith bottles have a pesky nipple type. On top of that, you need the bottle to be a bit on the stiff side since the pressute from the lid keeps it in place and creates the "seal" with the underside on the 510.

Bird got Toasted!
It's Hank's...
I've never used the goon in single mode before. I upgraded the contacts and decided to see how it would be in single coil mode.
So I built, a parallel single coil. Gotta say, I'm impressed.

As promised :)

In the provided atty, on the Wraith, I have installed a dual, spaced, 3 mm, 26 AWG SS316L, 7 wrap... reads in at 0.27 Ohms. In TC mod, it's just fine... 50 watts, SS mode, 440F, and I'm able to vape until the cotton is bone dry with no burnt hits.

I switched the mod over to power, and bumpednit up to 80 watts, and the vape is significantly warmer, and I did get a dry hit *cough cough* The board claims to be putting out roughly 4.7 V, and when I checked it with a multimeter, it jumped to 4.6, so, pretty darn close.

The issue is that many mods measure the output at the board and do no consider voltage lost in the wiring/510. All things considered though, I'd say it's fine.

Is your cell fresh? A dying cell will not be capable of putting out enough oomph.

Thanks for all the help! Can confirm old cells were shit. Put new fully charged batteries we got at our B&M today and it's vaping as it should.

Menu is wonky as hell imo. Maybe that's just me thinking it doesn't work the way I think it should lol. Personally I don't like the way it feels in my hand. It's to long, as in front to back. That's really important to me. How it feels. Pretty much the only thing I like about it is its got VW and TC. Also I like that it squonks from the natural gripping position i.e. not a hole in the side panel like I see on OH so many bf mods. I will def not be getting one of my own. This one is for my wife.

I'm def open to suggestions.

It doesn't have to have TC as I've only dabbled with that and am happy with wattage mode. I wouldn't mind 2x 18650 as long as it's not ungodly huge, unless it's huge AND comfortable to hold/squonk (from a natural grip position, one handed). 80w or better is a must. Can't vape on something that doesn't do at least 80w. I doubt i would need more than 100w though. Right in there is my sweet spot. 24mm RDA with no hangover as goon is my fav RDA and I most likely won't be dabbling to much in that department. Around $200 unless it meets ALL of my criteria. If you need more info to offer suggestions just ask. I'm on a mission to find a squonker I like.

Hmmm. More than 80 watts, 24 mm... Welp, the Movkin Disguiser with the squonk conversion would work, and they're dirt cheap now... $30 at Element Vape...

https://www.elementvape.com/movkin-disguiser-150w-tc-box-mod

But, it's not small. And, there's no USB port so no charging, and no firmware.

The Drone would work. Far better board, onboard charging, more power, and a lot more $$$... it's around $130

https://www.elementvape.com/movkin-disguiser-150w-tc-box-mod

For that money, you also get a way wonky bottle and tube system...

There's also the Lost Vape Halcyon, but you'll have a hard time finding it much under $200 in my experience.

There's also the Geekvape S100. I do not know if it'll handle a 24 mm, and, for 100 watts, it'sa bit on the chunky side. But, it's cheap enough... between $50 and $7p IF you can find one in stock.

Perhaps what you want is a 20700 mechanical squonker. I know I do...

https://www.skullkandyvapor.com/mods

I've not squonked with a 20700, but I've been running a .17 Ohm build in my Kennedy 25 on my Admiral, and it ROCKS! On a fresh cell - excluding voltage drop - you're gonna see around 100 Watts on a build like that. And, it would handle 24 mm, and be relatively small compared to dual 18650 or lipo mods.

One other suggestion... give TC a chance. With a good TC build on a good TC mod, you can make 50 watts feel like 100, and avoid dry hits.

I'm with you on that! Dual cell squonkers.....very slim pickin's Kanger DB160, Not bad for the money but not one I'd break into a sweat looking for, Geekvape S100 is discontinued but they're supposedly going to offer something else soon (I'm taking that with a grain, well, OK, a fist full of salt) and the Drone ( bit on the pricey side and a side-ish squonk to boot). The Disguiser is dirt cheap but good luck finding the squonk kit for it. I recently acquired a Therion BF and I must say I really like it. It isn't easy to find one but it can be found and the DNA 75 chip makes it worth the time looking for one. I guess time will tell...or we can try to talk @Mikhail Naumov into making a batch for the bonkers gang! The bottom line is the duall cell or LiPo driven regulated squonks are very few and far in between. Many of the regulated single cell are side panel squonks and not something I'm crazy about but I did order a YFTK SVA wannabe with a DNA 75 from FT.

I'll make squonk mods anytime anyone wants one, just keep in mind a squonk bottle + two batteries + a board = a big enclosure, so if you don't want a huge mod it'd likely have to be a 75C, 75 or 60. Or flat unregulated or an OKR-T10 10A DC-DC regulator. Point is, single battery, I suppose. But it's no problem at all if anyone is in the market.

Nope got 2 of em and they are made for up to maybe 23mm attys. Any larger and they hang over.

And as was said by another squonk Kits for them seem to have pretty much all been sold.
And good luck on finding replacement bottles for the squonk kit.
I have never found any.
I won one of my Disguisers and paid $22 for the other one. Did get squonk kits for both though. $16 for one and $10 for the other kit.

G'morning Squonkos,
A little feedback on the Apocalypse Gen 2 in bf mode, picked up the atty & pin and a couple top caps last week, just had some time to rig er up, popped a couple of basic claptons in there with airflow wide open and wowwww. Flavor is great and clouds are massive. Not for the Hadaly style crowd but if you are a Goon fan this is 300x better in my opinion. The logo is a little garish but I'm an old punk so I kinda dig it.
Only drawback is the alloy gets hot as fcuk, but I quick fixed it with a gasket from the Melo 3 mini and it's perfect.
Suuuper cloudy!! Fun for me cause I've been rocking the Hadaly for the past couple weeks. Happy I picked it up.
The deal is still going on the Armageddon site, 20% off everything with code 'MFGMOD20'.. they have all the Half Moon Mods tips on there too.

My bad not awake yet.
I grabbed a DB160 and looked at the top. The DB160's are for 22 mm.
However all the other stuff I said is correct.
Squonk kit availability and replacement squonk bottle availability are issues.
Plus they are huge compared to the DB160.
