Lynn with the CV cool do a very short button press then pull the top up and see if you can tell if it got hot in any particular place.
Also check the screw on the bottom of the switch. Maybe loose? Should be snug but do not overtighten as it screws into a plastic button.

*sighs* I need to save nickels again. I want another SS/Aluminum CuVape kit. Got one and one brass. Like the lighter SS/Aluminum more so for out and around, rough & tumble. Besides that the shiny little stock rda looks mighty keen on the matching silver mod & I think I'm falling in general affinity for that little stock rda. I cannot love things, no, things are used and people are loved. Always love the people and use the things. :)

You change your avatar more than I did in my first 3 months at ECF. :giggle: Isn't that guy the one from Dragnet... Joe Friday? "Just the facts, ma'am."

Anywho... hey fuggers. Hope everyone's bits are staying warm, nothing worse than trying to GFY with frozen bits. :giggle: I woke up to 33 degrees, and a cat who seems to be in need of Ritalin, maybe antipsychotics, or schizophrenia meds; she's chasing invisible shit again. :giggle:

And my new phone case is indeed Out For Delivery. Unless the sorter had a brainfart and put it on the wrong truck (it happened once), I will indeed get it today. Glad too; this phone is so much bigger, and without a case on it, I'm terrified of being my usual fumbly klutzy self and dropping it.

It's going to be in the 70's here tomorrow.

They say 60s here, but rain. Which doesn't bother ME, I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow, but the ol man has to drive up and get new filters for our water filtration system, about 20 miles. 2 of them cost $80, so he's as tight-fisted as I am, NOT going to pay $7 more to ship them, from 20 miles away. :D But now that I think about it... I actually might go; haven't yet gotten tired of riding in the new truck. :giggle:

For some reason, I can't get my new phone to bluetooth-pair with the truck, though my other phone did it instantly. Not sure why not. Any bluetooth gurus here? It never gives me the prompt on the phone with the pairing-pin code. Then it fails on the truck's side, since I never see anything on the phone to tell the truck's prompt yes or no. They can apparently see each other, but just won't pair.

I'm no guru but my first inclination would be to make sure both devices are using the same bluetooth firmware version. That could explain why they are seeing each other but failing to pair.

Good thought. Though both are 2016 editions, it would seem they SHOULD speak each other's language, but who knows, maybe not. I can't find out any info about what bluetooth version my phone is running -- any suggestions on an app that can "sniff" the software and let me know?

I've found an app on the playstore that is supposed to automate bluetooth pairing, so I thought I'd give that a shot, once the ol man is home with the truck. He gets off at 4:30 on Fridays. The reviews on the app are split about 50/50 between "doesn't work, total crap" and "this is the only app that works".

Hmm... that's nothing at all like the setup in our new truck; none of it is spoken or audible. There's a touch-screen, with a Bluetooth icon; I touch that, and it takes me to the Bluetooth menu; the top item shows the "name" of the vehicle, and the 4 digit PIN I setup for it; the next item is for "device management". I deleted the Galaxy Core Prime phone that I had previously paired. I tap "refresh," and it seems to find my ZTE phone, which is named simply its model number, Z981; it pops up a prompt asking me if I see this particular PIN code on the phone; on the phone, when I go into settings/bluetooth, it "sees" the vehicle, Chevy something-or-other, but when I tap that device name, it just spins, and never pops up a prompt with a PIN so I can tell the truck that yes, I see that code.

Is the phone in discovery mode or whatever it is? It's that stupid mylink, it may have an update that's needed.

Hmm... not sure about discovery mode. I have Bluetooth turned on, and when I go into settings/bluetooth, it says 'searching for available devices' with the lil spinning doohickey. When I'm in the truck, it does see the "Mychevy" whatever-it-is, and when I tap that, it seems to be trying to pair, but it just never does. the other phone, when I tapped the MyChevy name, it said "Pairing..." and then it would give me the prompt containing the number that the truck's screen is giving me and asking if i see this on my phone. So, I know the bluetooth pairing WILL work, it worked fine with the Samsung Galaxy phone.. just not this newer ZTE phone.

One thing I wondered about... yesterday when I was trying this, I had the phone plugged into the truck's USB port, for charging.
Could that have adversely affected the BT pairing?

Yes, that could especially if your phone has "fast charging" and it's enabled. I'd try pairing it without it being plugged in and see if that does the trick. You can also do the way I originally posted, there should be a talk button on the steering wheel(the one you press to answer the phone). It really shouldn't matter what BT version you're phones running as android is android and most phones tend to use the same chips. Unless of course your phones and older or newer Bluetooth that the truck doesn't support.

The phone doesn't have fast charging (I wish it did, it takes forever to charge a 3400mAh battery!)... however the phone makes a distinction between being plugged into USB for charging only, or as a data device, and since I normally have it set as a data device, so it can connect to my PC, that might have been the problem -- I just found this in the truck's user manual:

"A Bluetooth phone with MP3 capability cannot be paired to the vehicle as a phone and an MP3 player at the same time."

Since it did popup the Android Auto crap when I plugged it in, I think that probably was the problem. I'll try it later without the phone being plugged in.

PS: I just noticed -- HAPPY VAPERVERSARY!!!!!!!! :stars2:

If I decide to get the Denali ultimate this coming February and I have issues syncing my phones I'll drive it thru the dealerships front doors.

:giggle:

That seems... counterproductive. :giggle: All this geek stuff seems to require patience, a nearly infinite patience for ":try, try again." Which is maybe why I never got too bent out of shape with the vagaries of vaping; after PCs and the like, vaping was a piece o'cake. :giggle:

My current Nissan took all of 30 seconds to pair my phone to it, if I buy a $60k it better be as easy lol.

I think the difficulty must have been because of the phone being plugged in, and being set to MTP, rather than charge-only. I think it took a few tries tonight only because we were moving at the time, and my husband drives like a drunken Mario Andretti. It's hard to hit a touchscreen properly when your whole body is slopping around like a ship in a rough sea. And no, it doesn't do a single bit of good to complain about the way he drives -- he's a man, therefore convinced he is god's gift to the open road... or parking lots, as the case may be.
