That's so sweet, Deb! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving too! I got real busy for the 2 weeks before Thanksgiving, then totally goofed off the whole 4 day holiday, THEN the weather got nice here and my scooters called to me.. :)

You're pretty much stuck with me till spring now, though.

That is true, but what SHE remembers is seldom ever what HE remembers and chances are neither of them actually remembers what really happened.
Prezackly!! I'd probably make a pretty good wife now.......I forget everything!

End to a long day. I'm TOTALLY enjoying my night vape. Sleep well all, and don't dream of zombies!
sweet dreams hun!

We achieved an understanding years ago. I am the boss of me. She gets everything else. She loves the arrangement.
Sounds good to me too obviously.........how do you feel about it? lol

Actually we talk about henpecked men........but I don't like that. I used to get frustrated with my son's dad, cuz I really wanted his opinion when I'd ask.......and he'd never really tell me.

I'm about Miss you too
If I didn't miss ya so much I'd a whacked ya for that photo. hehehe At least it didn't have mistletoe on it!

Too funny Deb. I love it! !
my son came up with that from somewhere long time ago.

Ohhhhhhhh kewl.............It's national "post a random photo and make folks wonder what you're thinking about" Day
add a few more swirlies, and this is kinda what the inside of my brain look like most of the time

That phrase henpecked is so funny.
My husband was never around enough for me to ask him anything. He was always bar hopping. Even at Christmas time. I was able to ask what he wanted for dinner, but he'd always answer Steak and Lobster so I gave up. I was a really good wife. Just picked the wrong man.

No way to catch up with everything right now, on the train back to NY. Everything went well I'm just tired as hell. My daughter has her end of semester presentation and it went exceptionally well, so she's thrilled, and I'll get to see her in a week and a half.

I am so tired of using my leaning tower of Pisa tank. Can't wait to get my hands on a decent vape again. It got me through the week so I can't complain. Check in with everyone over the weekend.

I love it. The darling Queen is.. how do I put this delicately.. fond of running things. I'm a grown man that has owned and run two good sized companies, at the same time. Obviously, I do a lot of.. running things, as well. She is Tennessee old fashioned traditional, stay at home Mom except for running her own non-profit drama company that taught kids acting. With THOSE responsibilities, she started to get a little less... traditional. I think it was professional carryover. Wasn't going to work for me being told what to do. I know what needs getting done, and I will get to that on my terms, and do them how I want them done. That took some wrangling to get to.

She gets a generous monthly budget and only has to buy groceries and hers and the kids clothes from it. I don't care what she does with the rest. I buy my own (that used to drive her nuts too). I am lucky to make a good living. She knows I'm an extreme saver, so when I show up in the drive with a new Ducati or whatever, she is happy for me. She knows I'd never strain the finances.

When she bothers to ask my opinion, I give it honestly but ultimately I am happy to leave most things domestic to her discretion. We no longer have almost anything that we can possibly bump heads over.

Now, on my plus side of all this, I come and go as I please. Short notice often. The bills are paid, I keep up with the Man Stuff (repairs, heavy lifting, garbage, you know...) AND I help with dishes and such. I even do a lot of my own laundry, as I am often at the house in Iowa, and it would be rude to bring home 3 weeks of dirty clothes, IMHO, when I have a washer and dryer there. I go visit Dad in Vegas when I please, or friends in other cities. She has the same liberties. She is a grown ass woman who has raised 4 kids, and doesn't need ME to tell her when she should come or go.

Whats pretty cool, is for instance, this summer. Told her I was going to visit my Dad on my Motorcycle, be gone about 3 weeks with travel. Decided to see America. lol. I was gone a month and a half, including going back to Sturgis for Bike Week 2 days after I got back from The Tour. I woulda loved to have her with me, but the Queen doesn't do little tent and sleeping bag, or the back of a scoot for 6 weeks. She's a Four Seasons kinda gal, which is great when she saves enough for that kind of thing. But she would be welcome anytime to come with me, and that makes all the difference.

Ummmm, what I was thinking was...it sure is quiet here. Get it? Tumbleweeds, desert, etc?
ahhhhhh aren't you the clever one! I on the other hand........obviously didn't get it :D

I was a really good wife. Just picked the wrong man.
Jup! I can't say I was great, but I wasn't bad, that's for sure. But this is why I say my picker is broke........I picked poorly more than once.

Oh that's fantastic about yur daughter!!! So happy for her and you that y'all will get to see each other soon. Hope you find your vape stuff quickly when you get home. Kinda surprised you didn't use this as an opportunity to splurge on a wish list item, unless ya just weren't in one place long enough.

We no longer have almost anything that we can possibly bump heads over.
Your whole post was such a joy to read, but this part really warmed my heart. Looking back I reckin that sounded pretty nosy for me to ask, but I didn't realize that at the time. My apologies. I didn't mean to pry into your business, but since I did..... your answer just thrilled me. It's so nice to see folks who have been together for so long and can treat each other with so much respect. It what most of us want, and unfortunately, so few actually get. It makes me so happy hearing stories like yours, seeing Rich and Lannie and their relationship, etc.

Then you were only 75 miles from our house. Shoulda stopped in for a vape break.

Heck, I prolly passed BY your house. Unless you are N.E. of Sturgis, I spent over 2 of the 6 weeks in just the Badlands/Black Hills/Hulette areas. ABSOLUTELY Gorgeous. Farthest I got NE was Newell on the Spearfish Canyon/Devils Tower loop. Passed through that area going to the west coast, and I loved it so much, I came BACK through it after riding all the way from the bottom of Colorado up into Wyoming., THEN I went back to Sturgis 2 days after going home to catch up on bills and mail... lol.

I told the Mrs., who wants to eventually live off the grid, that WY or western SD would suit me JUST fine. So easy on the eyes. You wouldn't happen to know the ranchers that own the old Stone House Saloon, would ya?

NE of Sturgis is exactly where we are. If you made it to Newell, then you were only 48 miles from us (east of Newell on Highway 212).

Nope. I pass through Sturgis on my way to do monthly shopping one day per month in Rapid City, but other than occasional use of the large animal vet for cows, the dentist for wifey, and Ft. Meade V.A. hospital for me, I never hang out anywhere in that town. We are so far into "the boonies" that we have pretty much just stopped doing "city stuff" all together. Lannie and I are ruined now by the quiet of the country (three cars went by close to each other last week and we called it a traffic jam), the dark skies, the clear air... We both grew up near Portland, Orygun, but neither of us would EVER go back to that life.

brrrrrrrrrrrrr way too cold up there for me.

I do a lot of jobs up in MN, SD... Always lived in Michigan or Canada, so I guess I'm used to it. I actually love winter, except it cuts into my motorcycling. ;) Good thing I snowboard too.

NO problem on the question, darlin. This is a "family" thread, and I see my fam over on the Kawfee/Shenanigans thread have adopted you, too. Family gets to probe.

NO KIDDING on the traffic! Several times I would be riding in SD or across WY and think to myself "I haven't seen another vehicle in over an HOUR!" During bike week, the police were doing what they had to,to keep the body count low. But the first ride through, I passed a trooper in WY while I was going about 95. I thought for SURE i was busted, but he never even slowed down. Probably didn't have anywhere to put down as the location on the ticket anyway. We were NOWHERE. Hahaha.....

The speed limit on back roads in SD is 65mph (55 if it is gravel), which is where I normally set the cruise, but last month when a neighboring rancher was taking me to the ER at Ft. Meade, he did it at 90 mph most of the way. He says he's never gotten a ticket. We see a county mountie or a state trooper on this road (U.S. Highway 212) only about one day a month. When we first moved here, I walked out and stood on the centerline for 10 minutes and nothing came from either direction, so I wandered off out of boredom.... went to talk to the horses because that was at least something.

18K miles total, and not a mile would have been expressway, except I missed a turn coming down hwy 95 in Oregon, and ended up in Nevada. So I had to drop down to I-80 to Reno. There is just NO sane way to get across northern Nevada except that dreaded road. Otherwise, the whole trip was all mostly roads like 212. I also avoided Rapid City like the PLAGUE.

Reno I had to go through, and Vegas was to see my Dad. Now THAT was kind of a dangerous ride. I WAS going to cut through Death Valley from Yosemite. Had the evaporation vest and camelbak, but I don't think the scoot would have survived it. A local in Benton Springs CA tipped me off to the Westgard Pass that cuts over the White Mountains just north of Death Valley. GREAT ride, and I even checked out the Ancient Bristlecone Pine forest. Oldest tree in the WORLD is there. Over 5000 years old! Not sure if I saw it or not, they keep it a secret which one it is, so vandals can't damage it. Death Valley Road ends on this pass, and my oil pressure was ZERO, like water, and here is a pic of my air temp gauge. Not sure how hot the road REALLY was, the pin stops the gauge at 120F..

Love the residents of SD too. Not extroverts by any stretch, more a reserved and quiet strength. Wouldn't want to show them disrespect though. This guy was All Cattle, No Hat. I was PRAYING he didn't decide to cross that road. This was one of those loner Alpha's, and he was MASSIVE, even by Tatonka standards.

Jup love the thread! A few other porchers have found their way there as well.

that is soooooo kewl! Either that or they just made that up about the tree hehehe j/k. I'm sure that's been verified.

Loved the Tatanka!

Lol... I've seen the migration of the Dual Citizens. NO, the tree thing is real. Methuselah was thought to be the oldest at like, 4800 years or so, and that is a secret too, but I dunno, 10 years ago? They found one even older. I saw a few obviously very old ones, now that I know what those look like from google images. They looked like shit. 5000 years though... I'd look like shit too. I didn't know that forest was there, I tripped across it via that Westgard Pass.

I didn't mean to get that close to that monster Buffalo. He was 100 yards or so away when I stopped and shut off the bike. It used to be annoying before I put 110" jugs on it and took out the cat and baffles. Now it's despicable. Even annoying, it would rage. It just kept COMING. I only travel with protection, but I think a 9mm would just piss him off. Prayer seemed to work fine. The rangers came to drive him back up into the hills, long whips that they cracked for the noise. Just made him mad, and he started to run towards them. They DOVE in that truck. That's when I REALLY realized how dumb it was to get that close. Not like I had many options though, and he WAS so very cool. The herds somehow, even when they crossed the roads (always rangers with the herds) were far less intimidating than this fella. I have a short video of him I should post to youtube and link here. It was spine tingling, and man, we really FUCKED the natives.

I'm sorry if that offends anyone, but out there in the vast country, I really felt that way.

Hey, Buffalo! If you're ever in Deadwood, try the Buffalo bone-in Ribeye at the historic Silverado Franklin Hotel. It was good enough for Robert Kennedy. YUM!
