The thinner it becomes the more springy it is and more liable it is to break when coiling...Stop when you see everything becoming flat but not too thin and try to make it as even as you can!

I just saw a tutorial for that over on the other site by a really good builder. Twist the ribbon so each twist is slightly smaller than your core then wrap it. Should space well. I'd post a screen shot of the tutorial, but it's probably bad taste to do so.

So how are you guys using the spool tamers? I heard the beadlon ones are suppose to make staggering much easier, but I just gave it a go and it didnt work at all. The wire would get all caught up in little notches and such in the spool and end up breaking, or the spool would twist and go off balance, or the tamer would move ever so slightly and throw the spacing all off. It was a mess. I had much much more success with going free hand. Really the only thing I see the spool tamers being good for is just holding the spool so it doesnt unwind (which I guess is its intended purpose), but doing it that way I gotta stop and pull out a couple feet at a time to feed the drill. I dunno. Seems like everything vape related is just falling apart for me right now lmao.

I put it on the spool, KEEP IT SEMI LOOSE on the spool or it snags and breaks. You need to turn the spool to find which direction for it to be spaced, You may have to give slack and retry every time but once you have it then the wire will cut into the feeder and you will know from there on out which way to have it. Then just keep the spool from twisting and spinning around and follow it down the wire, you can hook up a paper clip to the loop at the bottom of the tamer and pout weights on it but too much weight is not what you want as it will bind and break.

So I decided to give the alien wire another shot and I finally got the feel of it down now. Given I only got a 3 inch peice that came out right but well worth it. Now I'm confident I can successfully make em. Thanks everyone for the tips tricks and udder jealousy of your wire.
If you only get a few inches before it gets sketchy chances are you need to stretch out the decore just a bit more. When the stretch is ballpark right it will wrap naturally unless you pull it too tightly and triangle the cores.

This has got to be the least porn-worthy pic I've posted in quite a while. But the flavor off of this thing in a single 18650 tube mod (brass Nemesis clone) is simply amazing. It's a 2x28SS316L/38SS316L Sandvik fused Clapton in a brass Derringer V2 clone. Registers at 0.18Ω. I think I'll have to try a 3x30/40 all SS316L alien in it next. The V2 Derringer is only around $7.00 from Fasttech and very well worth it if you're into flavor builds.
You should try a Stubby Clone Chef, you'd love it!

Oh and also if I may add. Your site isn't very mobile friendly. The white rectangle box that gives the specs for the coils cuts off on the right side. But it seriously is a very cool site and piques my interest a bit

The next time I build for the Derringer, I'll need to use a Scottish wick. The juice well is almost nonexistent in this thing. I'm constantly dripping into it. But the SS is pretty malleable, so I'm not sure if a SS coil can handle it.
You must have annealed SS
Worked fine for my Noisy Cricket last night, 2X30g FCs. They do move a bit easier than Kanthal, but it wasn't too bad.
Check it out on youtube, basically in the end you have a tight roll of stretched out cotton fit snugly into the coils. It holds more juice.

Hmm, the SS I have is stiff and springy. But I didn't mean you should anneal, that does make it soft. Tempering would be the ticket.
I was getting pretty aggravated this morning after 3 different builds with Ribbon either folded or warped....I finally made something that didnt screw up. Now this isnt what I was working on but I knew I could pull it off and that it would feel better then another lot of wasted wire and time...

I'm starting to regret not getting into tubes earlier, they're a pain in the ass to build on but such a pleasant vape, although your SS seems a hell of a lot nicer to use than n80 with keeping resistance down.

Here's one of the Failed Builds from the Morning...
It was supposed to be thicker in the middle and then thin out until it reached the Staggered Edges but when wrapping it the Thicker Ribbon in the Center seemed to over power the Thinner Ribbon and it all lopsided.
Specs: 6 x .6R/3 x .5R/2 x .4R/2 x .3R/26N80/34N80/38N80

But here's something I just finished up...I dont think Ill even use it as its really that nice...Its a build that I duplicated from Obi_Vape_Kenobi. I love the look of the staggered Framed Staples and I love how thin and wide this coil is....Its just magical looking!!

I was thinking if u use n80 ribbon and a1 ribbon and and mix them together in the stack and make a staggered framed staple will the n80 ribbon color? I think that would look so awesome especially against the a1 the color of the n80 would really pop. Yes it does color and if cleaned before it can really look very nice. KA1 doesnt really color, it does but its much fainter, N80 Ribbon colors like the wire.

No macro and now my Goon just fell the other night and I can't get the top cap back in the sleeve because it bent too much.. None of my other RDAs can fit enough wire and my TM won't fire two coils for some reason.. Is this a sign from the vape gods? Lol

Think I might just order a new one and have a spare deck for multiple build runs. My TM for whatever reason will only heat up the first wrap or two on one side when I try a dual in it. I can't see how anyone can build on the indestructible... I can't get the stupid ass side with the Phillips screw to grab my wire it just pushes it out of the slot and backs my screw out. This has to be the worst RDA to date and I have no idea what Jaybo was thinking.. I really regret spending a dollar on it. Thought about selling it to someone, but didn't want to curse them with such apiece of shit so I tossed it.

Try SS 316L. Colors even better. I'm going to stock all gauges and shapes of stainless from now on.
Yeah it's a pain in the ass. The only builds I can get in it easily are fused claptons or framed staples and I still have to use a screw driver to hold the leads in. If the negatives where straight it would be a great rda and wicking it sucks too I have the cotton pushed out against the barrel cause of the negative leads. I would like to know if jay bo actually built o. It before it was released.
