Going to post my tasting notes in here so everyone can see what the experience was on this end. I vaped all of each bottle.
1st test was in a Hadalay on a SMPL Mech built kind of mild @ .11 on NI80 triple core clapton
2nd test was another Hadalay clone on a Tesla III so I could play through the power band.
These are listed in the order they were vaped, not the order in which I liked them.
Chili Nights 88
The very first thing that I noticed when opening this bottle is that it smelled like sweet, wet, canned dog food. It was not an exciting aroma.
However that is where the bad ends. This is actually not a bad vape at all and is definitely interesting. It is very confusing and complex but it is absolutely vapeable.
I get an onslaught of a bunch of indiscernible flavors on the inhale but the dominant is pudding of some sort and there are spice notes that faintly say chili spices. Kind of like those cheap chili spice packs you get at the grocery store but its sweet.
On the exhale you get a little more of that sweetness and then it goes away almost immediately.
I wouldn’t buy it as a regular flavor but I am excited to have tried it. I also expected this to be a more dense vape but it is quite light and doesn’t completely smother your pallet.
Red Russian
This has a busy and very confusing flavor profile. The nose on this one is all pickle and bits of the chili spice which is kind of weird, but in the same breath actually kind of a pleasant aroma. This one reminds me of what a pickle would taste like with the Mexican candy chili powder stuff.
On the inhale I get a salty taste and the pickle. Towards the exhale I get some kind of fruit that gives way to the chili spice and more pickle. There are some bitter chocolate hints on the final exhale that pop out for a moment after the pickle dies down. The pickle throughout is actually mild and gives the vape a very unique taste.
I thought this one would make me gag but it doesn’t. Its actually very vapeable and frankly not bad at all. I would not seek this flavor or put it in rotation but I wouldn’t run away from it either if someone brought it up. This has a somewhat dry mouthfeel and is not a dense heavy vape at all.
Pickled Rice w/Wasabi Yum Sauce
This one scared me a little bit on the nose. It actually smells like the name. Pickles, cooked rice and wasabi. This is not a heavy vape and the flavor is rather pleasant as a whole. On the inhale I get notes of the sweet rice and chocolate. The pickle is very absent overall and lends only a salty element to the vape and at the end of the inhale you get a mild spice kick (which I assume is the wasabi) that gives way very quickly to chocolate and sweet rice.
Chocolate and sweet rice together is going to be something that I pursue further.
This is actually executed very well and is quite good. I wouldnt buy it or put it in any kind of rotation but if someone sent me a bottle I would actually vape it.
A Taste of the East
Straight away out of the bottle this one had a sweet nose of Mango. It is rather mild, is only a moderately complex flavor profile. On the inhale you get a rush of mangos and that’s it. Towards the end of the inhale you get a spice kick that gives way to cream and then is mango and spices throughout, then at the very end of the exhale you get a little kick again from the spices.
This is very well executed and is a very surprisingly fresh vape. I would not want to make this a regular thing but I would vape it if it were in front of me. After vaping this for a while, it gave me heartburn.
Also, none of these descriptions are meant as a knock on the work performed. Frankly I am amazed at what was cobbled up by all of you with what you were given. Everyone of you who participated in this has graduated to the next step of awesome as far as I am concerned. Had this been a bunch of unskilled mixers or people who lacked creativity, we would have been vaping used baby diapers and wet summer landfill. Hats off to all of you.
