For a few years I just about lived off buying, cherry picking & reselling medium huge (200-1200 LP) lots off Craigslist.
I bought 1000 LP lots for $100 sometimes, cherry picked 50-100, shitcanned the total junk and resold the lot for at least what I paid and sometimes 2-3x as much.
My 1500 or so LP collection is probably within a couple of hundred $$ of breaking even.
I had no LPs 12 years ago, just CDs & cassettes.
Time to spare is probably the biggest factor doing it that way.

The 80's were pretty fucked up.
Thanks to bands like Metallica, Scorpions, Megadeth & Sacred Reich for keeping it real.
My Navajo roommates were into anything Metal esp violence/battle related like Raven, LB & Manowar.
I'm glad big hair, makeup & spendex went away.

Went to the Megaforce Records 5th anniversary show. After a couple songs in Testaments set all the rental equipment started shitting the bed on them. Chuck Billy went fucking mental on all the amps & shit. It was pretty crazy lol
I believe it. And he's about our size so I'm sure it was crazy to see him beat shit up.
