ECC BANS ALL CLONES FROM BEING SOLD

Just got a text message from a bunch of people that ECC (The Electronic Cigarette Convention) has banned vendors from selling clones and replicas.

Pretty sad, considering replicas dominate the industry and make up the bulk of hardware sales.

Your feelings?

UPDATE 9/6: NO ONE IS LISTENING - CLONES ARE BEING SOLD

Despite the rule from The ECC gods - Vendors defy them.
Multiple reports of vendors selling clones all over the convention.
If I was a vendor that had not been made aware of the rule Id be forming my lawsuit against the ECC promoter for ALL my expenses for this trip

yea but it's not the same as "you have to go to court or go to jail" being served.
right?
A document of service can be a summons to court proceedings, or a civil suit being brought against you. It can also be a notice of summons to appear as a witness for or against.

CnD papers mean you have officially been warned, and you must stop your actions. The police were there to escort them off the property and to keep the service representative safe from getting his ass jumped lol.

this is true...why the original makers don't show some pics of their work stations like the chinese does? this is a real question I'm doing in this days...If I want to create a mod and sell it massively, I should call to China and make deal with them...period.
Unfortunately many of the mod makers are also working with China. Making money on both sides....
A lot of Authentics are made in china too.. how do you think they get cloned BEFORE they hit the market? Magic?

it is not a felony to destroy an order that is not issued by a recognised court. It does however provide future evidence in a civil suit.

What? A C&D is from one party tp another. It basically says 'Quit doing/using/saying 'whatever' as we own the right and will sue you if you dont'. Theres nothing 'official' about it other than you have been 'officially' notified by the party that claims to be hurt by your action. Thats it. There is no 'must' anything.

The funny thing is, IJOY is a company who is owned by the largest manufacturer of vape parts in the world...us manufactures of mods, will have no choice but to use DNA boards now, if china decides to stop selling the parts to mod makers here in the us. they will put limits on how many parts you can buy and raise their prices, and sell only the mods...dumb asses. That was a great David vs. Goliath moment, however this time, Goliath is wearing a riot gear full face masked helmet....lol

From my perspective, this plays well in the eyes of WIHI. For my part, I prefer their boards to Evolv anyway.

The plot is completely lost. Metal tube, spring or magnets, threaded pins......that's all a mod is at the end of the day. I can purchase a milling machine and lathe, and with some VERY basic instruction...make a mod and give it a posh name, then sell it for 20X my cost in material and time....for no other purpose than to extract unreasonable sums of money from egomaniacs that require the validation sought in a product! I am willing to wager that the self esteem challenged that are posting derisive comments about clone owners drive mass produced automobiles and have homes filled with mass produced, reasonably priced products. HONESTLY, how many of you own Miele coffee makers? How many own Aston Martins? How many have $1000.00 pieces of art upon their walls??? The three things I just mentioned do fuck all different than their ordinary consumer counterparts. Shakespeare said it succinctly when he wrote "A rose by any other name, would smell as sweet". Here is a novel idea....do what thou whilst, and leave others to do as they choose...and demonstrate your eloquence by remaining silent, lest you fail to improve the silence. Spirited debate in it's course to expand knowledge and offer objective opinion is nice and all...but when it is reduced to ad hominems is just immature and serves no purpose than to weaken the argument as a whole.
And don't forget all you have to tag on the mod is "THE WORLD FIRST COMPETITION MOD" ........LMAO:p:D:rolleyes:;)

Try going to B&M stores Joe... I've had several try to pass clones off to me as authentic with the authentic price tag. I'm not the only one either. Would it be right to sell a fake Rolex at the same price as the original Rolex? Even coping the second hand 1/1? Both tell time. Or a Burberry wallet? (200 USD for one of those) that just holds money? A Mont Blanc for 400-2K USD that merely writes? A pair of Johnson and Murphy shoes that you wear on your feet? Bobby Jones Golf Shirt 200-400 USD? The entire inventory of Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstroms? If expensive shit is so overpriced, why the HELL do they sell? Heck even middle income Dillards can be considered overpriced, just buy all your clothes from Goodwill and Salvation Army, at least then you know your paying what you would in materials. Better yet, make your own clothes!! All you need is a sewing machine!

It's amazing how many B&M's out there will try to stick you if they think they can , i have been told the ( why yes, these are authentic) bullshit from many B&M's that i have visited and they clearly are not .

This crap should never be tolerated and there is a lot of people out there that take a B&M's word for it which is just mind boggling to me .

I love clones (especially the ones that perform identically to the original (and the good ones clearly do). To be fair though the bad ones are bad and cannot compare .

There are tons of people who have tested and own both authentic and the top quality clones and the only difference is some don't mind paying triple the price for identical functionality and some do.

The key is to avoid the bad ones and many don't know how to do that unfortunately, the end result is usually a clone basher for life and it's usually based on very limited experience and often a single bad experience , hard to believe , yeah a little bit but thats no joke.

Don't expect them to ever admit that to you though lol , it was a bitch to get the ones who did admit it to me to reveal what their real story was , so good luck with that ( threatening physical violence can help).

What i'm saying is , it's OK to say to someone that they are about to be pounded into submission , but it's best not to follow through with it , after all "who gives a shit what someone else likes or doesn't like , i don't.

Sometimes it's just fun to argue with idiots , relieves stress and calms the soul lol.

These were good guys, I had a chat with the dudes at the iJoy booth. Didn't pass anything off as authentic, all he said was that they were 1:1's, nothing more. Saw many people buying from him and didn't charge off the wall prices. 26650 atty's were 20, and 18650 atty's were 15. It was flat rate pricing. Mods were also $35.

No way these guys were passing stuff off as authentic, and whoever said that literally is out of their mind.

I'm just going to leave this right about... here.

Questions on Cease and Desist Notice
An order or a letter of “cease and desist” served to an individual or organization aims to bring any unwanted activity to an end (cease) and prevent it from occurring again (desist) with legal consequences. Typically, a cease and desist order is issued by a court or a government authority to prevent an illegal activity as a temporary or permanent injunction.

***However, a letter of this nature may be drafted by anyone though it does not have the power of law.***

There was no class one felony here. Nice try though.

First off I'd like to say; Thanks Whiskey! I believe my sunglasses look best right where you have them!

I believe your more interested in your own set agenda and your response says that quite clearly! What you call thieves are in fact every bit as entrepreneurial as the majority of authentics who as we've seen in this thread have almost exclusively borrowed someone else's image and had it put on there tube! Were I to get a $100 bill tattooed on my d*** and two $20's (1 on each of my gonads) one could say they blew a $100 and almost got $40 back in change. Would that be counterfeit? clone? or just entrepreneurial on my part? (btw you went to sooooooooooooooooo much trouble to "find some bs about clone at ECC" and bring it here but offer no proof? Do ya drama much? )

You point out that you might successfully control so-called thieves at VapeSummit, but, in the end what is that really doing to help or mitigate the issue as you see it? All you're really telling the vaping masses is "Bring your money bitches! or stay home!" So glad I won't be at VapeSuckit! one more time it's money hungry bitches trying to rape the masses and forget what the real message is! I know you forgot what the real message is so lemme refresh your memory: "I'm off the cancer sticks!"

Sad isn't it? It's about money, but not the way you see it! We need to be fighting those that would hinder or destroy the very vaping community with all it's make's, box's, mods, accessories and juices that make vaping so awesome. Clone or authentic may not matter. Truth is Papaw you aren't seeing the forest for the trees! I'm all for authentics but to deem them worth $300. $400, $500 or more is about taking from the community not giving to it!

Doug, the tobacco industry was like that from the start. 500 USD for a nice wooden pipe. WOODEN! not even deeply engraved. Limited Edition with a nice little logo and authenticity paper. Club Humidor which I used to frequent back when I was not addicted was my "to go" place. a 100-300 for a mod isn't at all what I used to spend on a tobacco hobby. Humidors were/are also deeply expensive depending on what you want. Heck, hand rolled cigars is much like buying 5 pawns reserve and dripping it. (actually, sometimes double as expensive) Tobacco has its groupings as well.. from those who use Bugler and say "I smoke cheap" to those who buy Davidoffs or find a way to get Cuban made cigars/cigarettes. Due to vaping I have gone from hobby to addiction back to hobby! That should be a win-win for all of us regardless of income level. Now, where did I leave my pack of Nat Shermans. :/ j/k :D

Example of Pipe prices: http://www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/estate/united-states/index.cfm

Just found an almost 2K priced pipe made in the USA, grab it while its hot!!! : http://www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/estate/united-states/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=150368

I don't recommend glass pipes for tobacco, though, I didn't have a great experience with pipe tobacco in a glass pipe, wooden gives the best flavor. Although, the price for glass pipes exceeds the price for most wooden pipes. Yet, the stoners love em! There are some limited one-of-a-kind glass blown drip tips that reach 100+, but it still doesn't match up to the price and availability of glass/wooden pipes. Give it a few years, and you will see more of that kind of price range for tube/box mods.

As for the ijoy thing.. they make their own stuff, they are not like Cloupor which also sells clones alongside their T5s etc.. So I dunno if that was about clone selling or something else.

Not so sure their "trademarked logo" argument will hold much weight without serious litigation seeing as how the only one I could find was (a) on the "planet of the vapes" word logo and not the circular ape alongside the words, neither of which (I believe) are on the atomizer itself and (b) it's abandoned and listed in a "dead" status, meaning it's no longer protected, unless proven to be protected under common law trademark rights. It can be a really gray area that can lead to a "who can afford more lawyers" scenario. So unless the design itself is indeed patented (which I cannot find) then the argument will most likely rest with the packaging and use of the logo.

If ijoy is selling these under the pretense that they are something they are not (authentic), then it's a whole different can-of-worms.

Even more interesting, and provided that ijoy was selling them as counterfeits, if they choose to take the common law protection route, the ".454 Big Block" name is also listed as an abandoned trademark by Velocity Manufacturing Company, who appears to manufacture wiring harnesses.

It will be quite interesting to see how it plays out, honestly. I could not find any relevant patent, pending or otherwise, under "Planet of the Vapes" or "Kind Distribution", who is the Limited Liability Company that initially held the trademark on "Planet of the Vapes".

Unless Americans are willing to work at Chinese rates, dream on...

lol, that much is very true! That is like asking Apple to stop making iproducts in China. It's already pricey enough with those things, imagine if you had to factor in American labor costs! :D Much of our computer motherboards and chipsets are also produced in China. Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI, etc all made in China and sometimes they make duds like my Gigabyte UD-9 that is pinned to my wall as a reminder never to purchase a 600 USD motherboard again. :D I believe EVGA also produces out of China as well, and their products are heralded as some of the best in the computer industry next to Cosair PSUs/RAM.

It appears the time is ripe for a smart promoter to hold a nearby show at every ECC event called the "Clone Convention". Not only would it be interesting to see the paid attendance but what vendors would abandon the ECC for it.

This is not a hard concept, if you break the rules you get booted. Same as any FB group, movie theater, whatever.... They were asked several times to stop. You all were so happy they defied the rules. Now we are back to focusing on irrelevancy like who yelled louder. Follow the rules, no one gets yelled at.

I think thats good they banned clones they are counterfiet products and they are stealing money from hardworking mod makers. Plz dont say price and complaining that they cost too much because in fact mods are a luxury if you cant afford it just save up i hate the fact that people complain that they are too expensive save up or make better career choices. #TeamAuthentic4Life
hey dumb dumb...i make fairly nice money in my line of work....i am in the medical field and i have tons of paperwork behind me and a few letters behind my name so you know that when you mention that people should save for a $200 mod in order not to smoke cigs you are saying that only certain people can vape? am i correct on what i read? yeah i think so..as a matter of fact its almost like a slap to the entire vape community that you would say that.
now on another note you said "in fact mods are a luxury if you cant afford it just save up i hate the fact that people complain that they are too expensive save up or make better career choices. " i talk to inmates in a maximum security prison here in oklahoma about potential dangers they present to society and explain to them in very simple language that the choices they made landed them in prison for such amount of time......it would be a pleasure to watch these men violate every hole on your body for the comment you stated btw you my friend should have been swallowed by your mother.

Fucking funny, this looks real official. So these guys are the voice of the elitist. LMFAO!
So they were selling clones as real authentic at authentic prices?
So who were the bloated sacks of douche baggery that cannot figure out portrait vs. landscape?
Did the bloated proto humans have any right to disrupt sales?

Eleet vapors? Da fuq anything prior to that bloated proto sack of man baby flesh is now suspect as those rip off artist ass hats.

My brain is so full of fuck and my give a give meter is still pegged at zero.
If they were selling clones as a authentic and ripping people off then why did the bloated man babies with worldstar videography skills not post their fat asses near the booth warning other people about them ripping folks off until ecc staffers got to the problem or booted em from the show.

The filmers are a black eye on the vaping community as a whole. Very little professionalism, and just flat out crude. I was there yesterday and today, and am glad I missed this joke. There are far more effective methods to this than shouting 'fuck you' and making false criminal claims.

VapeBlast in San Antonio did not have that restriction at all. The vendors were honest, and knowledgeable. Vaporescence is a locally owned store in Texas and it has EVERYTHING labeled with a price. THAT is what I like to see in every B&M. Not someone going into the back and asking the owner "how much for this Tree of Life mod?" That kind of garbage doesn't fly with me. Thank god for Joes Vapor Blog, otherwise I would be spending way too much or not knowing the differences between mods. Not even the tobacco shops pull the kind of crap some B&M shops do. So long as there is a label and an appropriate price range, I'm fine with either clone or authentic. Also that video doesn't show if they have price labels on their products. Many at VapeBlast didn't have them either, which SHOULD be a requirement. I mean how many of you would like to go to a gas station and have to ask a price for a bag of Lays or a Coke, and a clerk runs in the back room to ask the manager?
