You can not even expand on that statement because it lacks merit and substance. Stop being mad just because someone half your age put you in your place. Turn off your computer and open up your favorite issue of Highlights and grab the lubriderm.

Just got a text message from a bunch of people that ECC (The Electronic Cigarette Convention) has banned vendors from selling clones and replicas.

Pretty sad, considering replicas dominate the industry and make up the bulk of hardware sales.

Your feelings?
Well , I was going to attend , but I have no place in my life for elitist , exclusionary bullshit ! Is this "the American Way" ? Fucking vape Nazi's can KISS MY ASS !

Next year Joe should have the Electronic Cigarette Convention Clone (ECCC) right next door. :p

ECC honestly has the right to do what they want with their convention. I just hope they made these rules clear to those who paid to be there before they paid, or at least would give the money back to those who choose not to attend now.The rest of us can vote with our wallets and just not go. :)

so this statement means that because flashlights have a tube and mechs have a tube then mechs stole their tube idea from flashlights? Are you high? And no intellectual property? Again, high? The creator of the Akuma mod holds all artistic rights to the design on the mod. That means intellectual property.

The Akuma looks just like the many other Copper Mods to me. Even if he had originated the idea of a Copper Mod, he could not patent it, because YOU CANNOT COPYRIGHT IDEAS.
Perhaps you were referring to a small design engraved on the tube to distinguish it from all the other almost identical copper tubes? I would happily live without that particularly engraving for 1/10 the price, and have it substituted with some other engraved design (the possibilities are endless), or even a classy non-engraved tube.
At the end of the day, it is still just a tube almost identical to the others, and very similar to a flashlight tube. Everyone in America could spec their own little 'design' to be engraved on one of those tubes by a Chinese factory, or even have the tubes delivered and put them on their own engraving machine - and get a copyright on their design. It hardly adds 10x the value to a product in the real world, especially where adequate competition exists. One could find an already existing design somewhere and make minor changes to it, and that would work as well, but, again, little added value in the real world and I'd be insane to think the market would pay 10-20 times more for my engraving compared to the almost identical competition's tube.
The real problem the 'boutique' (read insanely overpriced) sector of the market faces is that the competition has caught up with them, and can produce the same product for many times less. Which design the competition engraves on their tubes is the least of the boutiquers worries. They will be buried regardless of the design or logo on the tube. They scream, whine, and complain about the engraved design, but the fact will remain they can no longer compete now that the market is maturing (relatively speaking).
The flashlight example was an analogy, just as the tube represents more than just mech mods, which are doomed, IMO, do to the rise of the regulated mods (soon to include temp).
BTW, Flashlights also used copper tubes first, as well.

IDK but some people will buy fake Gucci and front it as authentic, but on the flipside of that coin, there are some people that buy authentic Gucci and will make an effort to let everyone know its authentic. And on a completely different coin altogether, there are those who buy fake Gucci and proudly let everyone know its fake and how smart they are for not paying 10x more...

Unless Atmomixani or SvoëMesto had a presence at the convention, I suppose Nemesis and Kayfun clones would be fair game. As for the Manhattan... well, we all know that story.

I enjoyed shopping the clones and the originals at VapeMania. Fell in love with a Viper v2 that I'm tucking a bit of money away for here and there. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the hell out of my 6 >$25 Fasttech clones. As a discriminating consumer, I won't be attending any conventions that enforce restrictions against what I'm allowed to shop for. I'm the dude with the money. Any organizer that values any of his vendors over me can use his own fucking money to support them, and I'll just get my shit off the internet. No sweat. Enjoy your little convention.

VapeSlam, bring it!!!

ECC has every right to instruct vendors not to sell clones. After all, it's their convention. We as consumers do not have to attend. No big deal if I don't get to see the newest item coming out this weekend, I'll see it in a day or two on youtube and will be using a clone of it in the near future. Let these idiots try and control free market. It hasn't worked in the past and it won't work now.

Wow....now there is someone with dignity and intelligence! Not surprising given his designs have always had an appeal with me, simple, yet unique, excellent quality and most importantly, very easy to use with little to no problems on the products I've owned! I already regretted selling my Sidewinder and this just helped me make my decision I was on the fence about whether to sell or trade my ZNA30 lite set up!

I'll say this to BOTH sides, in most cases thus far, the side by side comparison of MODS, the authentic wins out in MOST areas, and the volt drop test, is NOT the only thing that makes a mod great! When it comes to RDA's though, in my experience, it becomes much less difficult to gauge higher quality, especially in 1:1 replicas, and without other factors I've almost been unable to tell with some of mine! On the flip side of that, I have a drawer full of authentic I've paid upwards of $200 that while they have a nicer "feel" to them, and "look nicer overall", and even function better WHEN they were functioning, they are choc full of issues and problems that should NOT be there in a "high end enthusiast piece"! As others have mentioned, they were rushed to market or made by the same folks that make clones.....and how can y'all who support "authentics" across the board, do so, knowing those modders and manufacturers have NO issues having their "genuine" mod made in the same factory by the same people who make the "clone"??

Authentics have better customer service.....yeah right, I'd say that's been about 50/50, and I've gotten pieces from Fasttech before I've heard back from certain "authentic" designers/manufacturers and am STILL waiting on others....

Those of y'all who say you couldn't or the majority couldn't quit smoking without clones......B.S! Wouldn't or couldn't?!

Let me make a few things clearer though.....I have both pieces, and up until recently I ONLY had authentics, but only purchased "used" or "secondhand". As a virtually single mother of 3 young children on a very limited income I can NOT afford all the mods I'd LIKE to have, especially given some of the quality issues I HAVE had with the authentics! Because of that though I don't jump on every mod that becomes all the rage and the new "mod of the hour", for reasons like someone mentioned with the 4nine! I remember when that's ALL you saw in the classys and groups, just like with the Plume veil recently....I do my research and I buy mods that are both well functioning as well as aesthetically pleasing to myself, the Lifestyle mod is such an example and probably going to be my first NEW purchase of a mod!

These newer manufactorers who are putting out excellent quality products at a more reasonable price point prove what we've all known all along but some of us couldn't admit due to cognitive dissonance.....MOST modders are charging ridiculous amounts for their products! You know what though, I think they should be able to charge whatever they want! I also think "generic" or "no logo" offerings should be made available as well for the masses who no matter what, won't buy the "real deal" if it cost more! The fact is, the vast majority who purchase clones were never going to purchase the authentic to begin with at the price points that have been out there until recently! "Taking or stealing" ,money from the manufactorer, that's hilarious because most of these mods that are being talked about are NOWHERE to be found, completely out of stock for weeks and months at a time, so how can you "steal" what's NOT available??

Then you have those of us who are grateful that the clones exists and is available to purchase "replacement" parts for our "high quality" authentics with the "excellent customer service" when they fall apart and we can't get in touch with the manufact. and/or they don't offer replacements.....

Take the damn logos off of them and the names, I 100% agree, as that helps dissuade the low-life dirtbag scammers in our "community" who have adapted and gotten more cunning to be able to scam and have scared many off from buying/selling/traded secondhand at a discount verses having to pay top dollar for pieces IF you can find them in stock!

VaporJoe, if I could I'd like your posts on this matter a zillion times! You are the only other person other than myself who has used the term "The good 'ol boy system" in reference to a growing and select group of vendors/manufacturers/suppliers etc. within the vaping industry! Coming from Texas, I've seen it at work in several facets of life and it's all around in the rural farming community I recently have had the displeasure of relocating to, so I know it very well when I see it at work!

You people who bemoan the "Crisis of the Clones" make me disgusted! There's so many other much noble and worthier causes to champion, but IMHO, this is a FIRST world problem, wah and I can say that on certain accords to both side! The bottom line is what someone else puts in their mouth, TRULY is their business, as where and what they put their money on is as well! If you have such an issue about it, go to the damn sources, but remember to include your "authentic" manufacturers you put on a pedastool that are actually working WITH the "Chinese cloners" and quit "clone shaming" the vapers in the community, as most of them just want to get off of cigarettes!

Thanks to our government we're just about "The United States of Chinamurica" or Americhina anyways!!

It's astonishing the number of people who made an account for this thread...
Don't be astonished! It stems deeper than to do with clones. They also have clones. And not just with vaping but with 100 household items they bought cheap ;) Pinch of salt. For every comment anyone posts, e.g. about clones help the poor households in the current economic climate afford vape gear and electronic cigarettes on eBay.com Fasttech.com Amazon or wtr, vapingunderground.com grows, google indexes the words and brings it to the top, ... etc etc, you know the rest. We've already won just by anyone choosing to type words on 'this' vu platform ..

I'm my own club :) I also don't cry and people copy my deals and put them on their sites, and I welcome anyone to put my logo on a mod. :)

I dont really give a flying fuck what these mod snobs posting in here think...not even a little bit...I'll buy clones if I see ones I like and not feel bad about it at all.....I dont care to spend hundreds on pretty flashlight tubes...when purchasing vape gear my only allegiance is to my wallet...the wallets of "authentic" mod makers are of little concern to me...end of story....

I think the best way to resolve the dilemma between buying a cheap clone that rips off a US inventor, or buying the original overpriced item, is to not buy clones, but not buy American either: simply buy original Chinese stuff! There are many mods and atomizers out of China that are fairly unique, innovative, and not copies of anything.

Clone.........is a living organism
When are you fucking idiots going to learn and change or even drop the word.
Who gives a shit if they don't allow clones. A CLONE IS A LIVING FUCKING ORGANISM!!! Look it up.
NOBODY in the vaping community has the fucking knowledge to create a clone as the word is defined.
But I do love your humor....;)

You do realize "fucking" means something other than what you mean it to be, right? Oh the irony...

Look, English is a living language. That means the meaning of many words shift over time, or words take on new meaning. "Gay" and "cool" don't only mean what they used to mean in the fifties, and "clone" has come to mean "copy". Get over it already, and stop being a grammar nazi...

wow, this surprised me. I was there last night and didn't get that impression. It was sooo crowded in a heavy fog overcast room...and it was so cool! LOL Saw quite a few 'f*uck clones' tshirts though.

This all brings to mind the saying "opinions are like assholes" Yes mine included, and yes I am an american and last I checked my choices are my own. That said, I have authentic and clones, but to debate and side with one or the other is something I have no interest in as both have Pro's and con's. Loose sleep over this? no, not gonna happen. Carry on~

i can buy a louis vitton handbag for $800 and be a douche bag snob, or buy a perfectly fine handbag at TJ Maxx for $40 and still be ok. there will always be those elitist types willing to overpay for snob appeal items. i am proud to not be one of them. :)

$800 at LV is only gonna get you a wallet, not one of their handbags. ;)

PS don't hate me, I love expensive purses.

I think thats good they banned clones they are counterfiet products and they are stealing money from hardworking mod makers. Plz dont say price and complaining that they cost too much because in fact mods are a luxury if you cant afford it just save up i hate the fact that people complain that they are too expensive save up or make better career choices. #TeamAuthentic4Life

While I am all for good ol ingenuity and hard work, Most "authentics" aren't made in the U.S. and to see (and know) some authentic makers have one hand in authentics and both feet over in the clone making side, I, for one, have zero problem with getting my money's worth! We can't stop certain countries from "cloning" which is why alot of those outsourcing the manufacture of their authentics are also making sure they get the first clones out! (as has been mentioned; BEFORE the authentics are even out!) Clones aren't a bad thing! Imitation being a form of flattery! So far, as I've seen authentics can even be an improvement!

Gotta hand it to some elitists that think all clone buyers made "bad career choices". If My "American Dream" doesn't include authentics in every part of my life, then I've made a bad career choice? I've got a damn nice tv that is off brand and cost about half the brand name one! ( funny part is the "off brand" name is the same company that makes the brand name! ) so, is it a knockoff? a clone? ???

It would be where it was before Vaporjoes.com -- $150.00 for an ego kit.

Enough said! Exactly! I began vaping early on when there were few choices of only cig-a-likes. My wallet still hurts from those days.
