It does say the size... but you have to look at a chart and convert :)

# 008-70D
O RING 3/16 X 5/16 X 1/16

Yeah, I've seen that now..hadn't ever gone to the main store so I didn't see it.
IDK why they don't have the dimensions on all of their stock listings..some do, some don't.

Fixed the links above^. I have the PC windowed Orchid v4. I feel that it is more painful to fill than it should be cause i get an airlock forming at the top of the chimney base every time it makes it a very long and tedious process with both a needles syringe and my needle nose fill bottle. i can fill without it leaking but it is a pain, gotta stuff a q tip in the chimney and slowly and i mean slowly fill with the needle nose. and i still only get it about 2/3s full. Sometimes it even looks full till i turn it right side up and realize i only filled around the chimney base. Top filling is only successful for me 2 out of 10 times also. I use some pretty fluffy wicks (organic cotton) trimmed at an angle with the tails just ever so slightly in the channel barely a MM. I was looking at that kayfun extension and thought it would be pretty nifty with a top fill cap much cheaper than buying an m-tank. also would either of these chimney bases be compatible with that ebay extension kit and my orchid base Or better yet you can just inform me about chimney bases in general orchid vs kayfun?

Could be the wicking...do you have any wick in the channels? Ya don't want that...

Never had any of the earlier Orchids, but this one don't leak. If it did, it wouldn't be on a wood mod. ;-)
wish that was the reason, i changed wick and everything, im wicking them exactly as they are supposed to be, it just dosent make any sense, maybe there is something slightly off with the machining or something

Kayfun chimney threads do not fit Orchid. Orchid is bigger. That Kayfun chimney extension on eBay does not fit Orchid. (Unless you get creative machining an adapter.)

As I said in the earlier post, Kayfun bell caps are nano size, which is shorter than your Orchid V4 and V6. To use a bell cap you need a shorter V1-3 chimney.

Chimney: http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10009751/1855602-replacement-chimney-for-orchid-rebuildable-tank

Kayfun bell caps: http://www.fasttech.com/search?kayfun bell cap

Here's an Orchid with Kayfun bell cap. The V1-3 chimney here looks a little different than stock because it has been shortened 4mm from the bottom to increase juice capacity.

For Kayfun top filling technique, search Google for a video. Works with Orchid too. I was bad at it at first, but now I can top fill (cap off) losing only a drop or two. Good luck. :)

A couple of pocketable Orchids.

Left: Caravela, Ignition base, Orchid with Taifun GT tank and top cap. 6 ml capacity.

Right: Gripper (modified), Orchid with Kayfun bell cap and reduced chamber size. 3 ml capacity.

p1222212-edit-jpg.12997

Now that I've got the Ignition base fit with a Fatdaddy spring loaded core on the atty side, and fixed up the electrical connections, that rig is working great. Heavier than the Gripper, but shorter (90 mm) and holds twice the juice (6 ml). :)

That silverplay must need a different top cap right? The tall stock top cap is kind of what's holding me back from purchasing the aty.
I think FT is the best bet for parts and I'm sure its just a couple months away. I don't think they ever released any spare parts for the authentic orchid.
Two things that are drastically different. 1- it has an o-ring outer seal, like on a billow or orchid V6. 2- the chimney screws into the top cap to secure it, and that's a big opening. The inside diameter of the SP chimney is 6mm.
I need to get an Orchid V6, pretty sure the SP chimney with the SP top cap and stock V6 glass would work well together. And probably gain some mls of capacity as well.

Got it, that makes sense. That is a nice design, I may have to grab one because I'm not holding my breath for them to put parts out. I would like to see a little less height on the top cap, if they sell enough of them maybe they will put out option caps. Or maybe break out the cutting disk and lop the fins off if it would still have enough depth for the DT. Always hard to start hacking at a new topper that's not $15 though

i always think the same thing too, but once i get into it...its totally worth it, ive been know to take a couple of toppers and make one out of them....i should not be allowed to have a workshop

Well I just got my orchid v4 and I must say it hits hard, flavor is ok. Not sure if I'm getting harsh hits due to to my wicking. I barley put some cotton in the channels.

New on FT. Orchid "Mini" with small tank but bigger chimney. Clone shmone. These guys have their eyes on the competition. Today's target: SilverPlay.

Screenshot 2015-01-23 at 10.39.41 AM.png

Scaling from the photo, the chimney ID measures 7 mm vs. 6 mm for SilverPlay. The DT connection ID is going to be the choke point using this stock top cap.

The chimney height is specified 26.5 mm, which means it will come up around 1 mm short for a Taifun GT Nano tank, which would give you ~1.5 ml more juice. One way to make it work would be to insert the chimney into the top cap first and then assemble on the base so there's a 1 mm gap where the chamber would meet the base.

Of course, they might get more creative before we do. Will Orchid "Maxi" be on its way?

cool thanks, i see that mad vapes is selling grippers for under 8 bucks, may be worth it to just have something to play around with

I kinda can't believe that I am still using the Gripper, but it is what it is. Simply feels great in the hand IMO. :)

I have the new mini in my wish list. with a better drip tip and drill out the base, I'm sure you will be blowing clouds. I want to buy one just for novelty. I'm sure it will drink juice faster than the other orchids. I'll just call it a "harder to drip, dripper."

Just ordered one to try it out with a Taifun GT nano tank. I'm just curious whether it is indeed closer to dripper flavor. We'll see.

wonder if we'll see the new chimney in a 2 piece variant in the next week or two.. haha

now if only there was a kayfun styled poly cap instead of the metal one, i don't mind the diminished capacity. i really enjoy the kayfun nano tank on my orchid w/the 2 piece chimney from 88vape (or wherever it came from), i can only imagine it would be that much better w/the increased diameter on the chimney.

i'll play w/the erl mini clone that's on it's way from ft in the meantime & see if i can try to be patient and abstain from placing another order. i've got too much in my wishlist already, hahaha

Ha ha! I was thinking a month to clone the silverplay. Oh man the clones are hard at work. That one just went in the basket! That's the height i wanted out of the silverplay... this one does need to get drilled out though and no 2 piece chimney but i would think that is on its way. I'll swap that out once it's available.

For a build that low I would suggest drilling out the air holes. Best blend of cloud and flavor has been 0.4 build drilled out base. You can go 0.3 and not get the hot vape like you are with the drilled out base but flavor lacks to me when you are that low in the orchid.

There is one on fasttech.com with a full size pmma tank and chimney for kayfun. Its like $5. I'd link it for you but my phones messed up and I'm not near a computer

Yep, it is a very well machined part. A plus is that it is machined to take kayfun pipes that most of us have laying around so you can run a tall or short pipe depending on what height tank you want to use.

For the price though, the FT 2 piece is the way to go. Get 2 and chop some of the pipe off of one to have a tall and short option and still be $10 ahead. Both have a domed ceiling which I think was missing in the orchid chimney design.

Both may be going into retirement once the new v2 (silverplay clone... kind of) shows up in my mail box though :D
That v2 chimney has one hell of a dome to it too!

I'm all about it right now. There is some many 3rd party kayfun pieces that requires the barrels that 8-9 bucks is pocket change. Should be compatible with my v4 no problem right? Beside maybe an oring?

Yeah, I don't regret the $2 part coming out a couple weeks later (lol). It is a superior quality to the FT part as expected and as paid for so if a large percentage increase but really only a 12 pack worth of dough doesn't bother you, get it.

appreciate the suggestion, in fact i've already got one or two of those kits off FT. they will not accommodate the new chimney w/the larger diameter though.

Idk if anyone has seen this but i thought it was pretty cool. www.avidvaper.com/orchid-two-piece-chimney/
scratch my previous post about the one from 88vape, can't recall what i ordered from them, but that's the 2-piece chimney i've got also. great piece aside from the price tag

Just a thought but looking at it (I got one) couldn't you just drill it accommodate a new proper sized o-rings and chimney? The design on it is just a recess in the top cap just for the o-ring to sit in, nothing really special.

OMG that goblin has everything good airflow with easy adjustment, deep channels, a taper of the tank, two piece top threaded chimney , only things i can think of to change is to slightly raise the airholes, add a top fill cap and increase the juices capacity cause it definitely looks like a juice guzzler. I don't even think it would have much of the normal problems for bottom filling since there is some clearance inbetween the glass walls and the chimney barrel and the chimney has a taper

more than likely. They are suppose to be coming out with a 5ml idk why they just don't bump it up to 8 or something with 3mm air holes and those huge juice channels it is kinda needed. at this point it is almost a rda

That silverplay tho I love the how the top of the juice channels have a step down to them. i would like to see a build deck that has steps from the air holes down to the juice channels like 3 or 4 atleast i bet that would make it so even a shitty wicking job wouldn't flood as badly. The fact that it is cross compatible with kayfun parts is such a major with in my book. If i had the equipment i would totally just make parts for kayfuns to market out like Chimney extensions. there is so much that should be standardized and stuff like the silverplay is at least working toward that goal imo.

I'm loving my SP, those step outs on the channels was an act of genius. I'm considering attempting to mill something similar on my orchids. I can lay the SP on it's side for an extended time and not one drop leaks out. I cut my wicks to go into the step out, putting the chimney barrel on locks them in place. Wicks outstandingly, can chain vaoe an entire tank of high VG, never a dry hit.

Makes good sense and not a difficult mod. The recesses look to be about 2.5mm radius by 2mm deep. Sound about right to you?

Yup sounds about right. I just grabbed a new carbide cutting bit for my dremel. I've drilled out one of my orchid bases with a 1/8 bit, going to see if I can widen the holes cyclops style. With my shakey hands this night get ugly real quick.

Lols yeah in the next couple weeks iwanna drill my airholes out to 2.5mm and raise the decks airholes with a 10g needle. Then I might widen my juice channels and gice them a couple steps or at least give them a conical shap at the top. Wish I still had my laptop i'd make a cad drafts of the anticipated results

If you look for stainless steel capillary tubing on eBay or amazon, that's what I attempted to use, it was just too tight a draw. I used 3mm o.d. and 2mm I.d. , so just suggestion. 10awg needle might work better lol
