You might want to make a post asking about the PG content of the FA. I know with TFA, unless it states that it is VG or alcohol, it is PG.
Most, but not all. Some are alcohol based.

Those flavors shouldn't be harsh when you subohm - but your nic level may be too high for that, perhaps?
You may be right. I will find out as soon as I remake the juice with a lower nic and flavor content.

Have you tried the same juice in your Atlantis? If so, how is that?

I am honestly thinking you might have a hot spot.
Cap off wet the wicks and press the button and blow on the coils length of time for your drags, you might see a hot spot flare up.

Well, I did check that, after I read this and no hot spot. It's glowing from the inside out like it should. I picked up some 28ga Kanthal today and built a 1.95ohm coil and it seems to have helped. Not harsh now, but the flavor will most likely have to steep. It doesn't taste like it smells at all. It's the "Signature" brand Banana Cream. Any experience with that flavor?

Yes, and it was harsh, but the Atlantis is .51ohm though. I built a 1.95ohm coil today with the 28ga Kanthal I picked up, and it seems to have stopped the harshness.

Glad to hear that you are making some progress, but it makes me realize that we have only been attacking this from one perspective... So how about a couple of basic questions that may help determine what kind of vaper you are ;)

How long have you been vaping?
What mod are you using?
What flavors have you used in the past that you like other than DIY pinapple? For retail flavors note the brand.
What did you smoke before you started vaping?

Answers to those questions should help us start to help you zero in on your needs/goals now that the most significant problem is minimized (even if not eliminated yet).

I was going on the bigger/more wire, the higher the resistance. So smaller wire will get me above 1 ohm?
I hate using the hair size wire myself but yes that is what it takes to get it up above 1 ohm. Bro we are getting pushed into sub ohming to be satisfied I'm afraid.

Vaping for over 2 months. I use a 18650 Stingray Clone Mech Mod with either a Stllare dripper, or the Atlantis. LorAnne Watermelon, LorAnne Raspberry and TFA Pineapple. I smoked Pall Mall Blue 100's.

Ok that helps. Sounds like you have effectively been vaping at to high a wattage to start with. I started at 7-9 watts, then 12.5 - 15 and now find myself bouncing around between 12.5 - 25 depending on the juice since as you have realized they have different sweet spots ;)

You can use the Ohm's Law calculator to see the effective wattage of a coil based on battery voltage. Plug in:

1.95 Ohm coil
4.2 volts for the battery

And you you will see you are hitting about 9 watts off of a battery fresh from the charge assuming very little voltage drop from your mod and atomizer.

Now, decrease the volts to say 3.7 for a depleated battery and you'll see the watts drop down to around 7.

Now go through a couple of batteries and pay attention to what you like best, the fresh battery? depleated battery? midway? and you'll know what wattage you currently like and can start to target your builds based on the ohms required to get the wattage you like.

After a short while you will learn to recognize when your battery is getting low by the change in the vapor and flavor.

Odds are that over time you will also find that you want to start increasing the watts thus lowering the ohms of your builds.

I use the ohms law app on my phone for all my builds. What I need is a VV/VW MOD. It would make life so much easier. I totally get what you are saying, but it's too much trouble to keep building coil after coil after coil, just to find a sweet spot, along with working the battery like you are talking about. I just can't afford a VV/VW Mod just yet though. I'm looking to get the Clouper Mini, but I think I will get one that hits at least 50 watts for my sub ohm builds.

A Sigelei isn't much more.

You can get a 150 watt model for under a 100 bucks.

If you are talking about the mini, it will run a Clearo fine. You won't want to run an RDA with it.

That's all I build is sub ohm. I have been building those since I started vaping. That's all I have ever vaped was sub ohm builds.

Besides, 150 watts is something I would probably never use. I like clouds, but that's a little too extreme for me.

A .3 ohm build on a 20 amp battery is 120 watts. IF you are used to a unregulated mech, you will be VERY unhappy with a unit less than 50 watts for running a RDA.

IMO, you want at least a 100 watt mod if you plan to keep running a dripper. And a dual battery mod at that.

I guess that is what has been eating at the back of my mind for a bit... you mentioned that anything under 1 ohm seems harsh, and now have figured out that 1.95 ohms seems to be a good spot for you...

So the question is, do you really want to continue doing sub ohm builds? And if so, why?

According to my ohm calc, a .3 ohm coil pulls 14 amps at 58 watts with a voltage of 4.2. How do you get 120 watts? I put my Atlantis on a vapor shark at 30 watts and it put out WAAAAY more vape than my mech ever did. My dripper is only for tasting mixes anyways.

Anything under 1 ohm for the banana cream was harsh. that's why I wanted to build above ohm.

@freemind... you must be having a slow night... a 20 amp battery doesn't put out 20 amps all the time, it's output is dependent on the draw.

.45 ohms is the minimum supported ohm limit for the Cloupor Mini. You won't be able to go lower than that.

I know this and im not having a slow night! The ohm calculator has a .3ohm coil at 14a, 58w, 4.2v....3ohm, 12a, 45watts, 3.7v...What am I missing about what you are saying about 120w?

I normally don't build lower. .45ohm is the lowest so far, I believe. If I do, I will use my mechanical mod :) Anyways, the Clouper mini worked just fine for me, but I do want something a little more than 30w. The Atlantis vapes good at 45w, so maybe a 50w will be enough. 150w just seems like that would be way more than I will ever need :) Besides, I don't cloud chase all the time!

Freemind's a good guy, just having an off night.

Know what will make you happy vs what you can get is a big part of life. Given all the 50w mini's hitting the market I think it makes sense to wait a wee bit longer for them to get over the initial street prices when they first hit, but agree that 150w is probably not worthwhile.

I have a ZNA 30 clone and have tried it at 30w and didn't care for it all. I just won a Clouper T8 in one of Cigabuys recent contests run by @pearlzeng and I'm looking forward to using it, but don't ever expect to get up to even half it's capacity.

Check out the contests forum here. Pearl runs contests from Cigabuy constantly. Vapor Watch gives juice away pretty frequently in his thread. It is random, so you just need to participate which makes it a bit of a hangout. Good atmosphere. Spend most of my time bouncing between there and the Alternate Universe thread which is pretty much a free for all.
Oh and definitely sign up for vapers.tv before 8pm Saturday and tune into VULive at 8. It's the second anniversary of the show and they are going to be giving away a ton of stuff all night.
Just don't try to keep up with the live chat, it simply goes by to fast!
I typically listen while I'm building coils or doing some DIY.

Ok, I made some juice with 3% FA Vanilla Classic, 2% FA Caramel and 2% TFA Banana Cream. Just some flavors I picked that sounded good, so don't judge, Lol. Vaping at 1.97ohms on my mechanical with the dripper, I ended up cutting down the airflow dramatically, vaping mouth to lung instead of straight to lung, and it's better. Not harsh like before, until I increase airflow. Flavor still not there the way I want it yet, but I believe I am on the right track.

I still think something is weird about the harshness you are experiencing. The OHMs shouldn't make any difference, unless you were vaping something BLAZING hot.

And back to your cloupor mini. Do you think 30 watts will be enough? If you are vaping at nearly 60 watts now, I dunno man. All my drippers run off unregulated mods or 100 watt or larger mods. And to be honest, I nearly always run a dripper off my unregulated boxes.

Again, my dripper is just for tasting. I don't use it all the time. I use my atlantis regularly and the wattage changes as I use the mechanical mod. It drops more the weaker the battery gets. If I can get 30-45 watts continuously, I will be good to go :)

Actually that sounds like a pretty good mix, although it probably wouldn't have a strong enough flavor for me.

@freemind we all definitely get one wrong every now and again, we just hope that it isn't when something critical or life threatening is on the line right?

Was trying to keep in mind that somewhere @Tank63 says he ran into someone(s) who treated him poorly and wanted to make sure he knew that you are not typically one of those people, although unfortunately I too am starting to see more and more of them popping up. One of the prices of fame I guess...

I think that planning to hit the max of a regulated mod regularly would be the the main driving factor for waiting a wee bit till you can get something in the 50 watt range.

Typically in the computer world we want to see computer servers running in the 30-50 % capacity range with occaisional spikes up to their capacity. I think that a similar approach is a good idea with mods too.

The 50W is what I'm getting, as soon as my rich uncle gets out of the poor house, lol! I have always heard that it's not good to run them at max capacity all the time. I will run it most likely between the 30-45W range anyways. Maybe 25W at times, just depends.
