Hi folks, been busy with work this morning, it's late to just now be checking in. Hope you're all well.

Nothing different here. Son is starting his new job for real today (had orientation yesterday) but has made other arrangements for child care, at least for now. That is a relief to me.

I guess we're in here for the foreseeable duration.

Had my first little slip of the lip yesterday, basically bit hubbs' head off and he went to his cave and stayed in there quiet for a while. It wasn't nice, I didn't mean to do it, and I think he understands that. Just stress getting to me.

My friend closed on selling her house yesterday, so that's a done deal. I still cannot believe she managed to sell it so easily with all this other hoo-hah going on. She called to tell me it was all done, and I gave her a big verbal high-five. She's had the house since 1997, raised her daughter in it, and daughter has now graduated from med school and is working on the front lines in Boston (I've told y'all about her, I think), so time for my friend to have things a little easier. Now she won't be expending so much energy and money for the upkeep of a house that's too big for her.

Hopefully getting a Dvarw DL clone from China today. Haven't checked to see if the mail has come yet. Better do that.

Everybody stay well and be careful!

ETA: No tank for me today. It sat in Greensboro until nearly noon today. Bastiges!!!

Im here, and doing well. Got another phone call from the director of the unemployment agency this morning. She reassured me that benefits are in place, and they are now processing applications from self employed people like me and I should be hearing something and receiving an approval for benefits late this week or early next week. Fingers crossed.

Im a firm believer that if you keep a positive outlook, then positive things will happen. Seems to be holding true.

This is the temporary job my wife has for the state of WV, processing unemployment applications. She has been trying to get on with DHR as an economics consultant/case worker. She has been interviewed three times. Gets the "we'll call you." She's also listed for the job pool for the state but this is something they're doing via Man Power. I figure a lot of temp agencies will make a bit during these times.

Can recall working for one temp service that got $2 off hourly wage of $9, so we got paid $7 hourly. Of course, I got a week of work from them and then nothing for two weeks. I had located something full time in the meanwhile. Guy calls up saying he has work for me. I apologized and said I had work for me too. Last year tried reaching out to them again. They still had my basic info but it needed updated via their site. I did that and then was told, "we'll call, email." Gee, still waiting. And no I'm not going to wait around, just that's what it is.

Well still fair to middlin' here. Wife has to do 4 pm to midnight tomorrow. She says that'll let her know if she is going to hang with it. She's always been a banker's hours worker, I've always been a zombie crew or graveyard shift worker. Then too, military trained me up to go for 20 hour days. I've not had any "regular" sleep schedule in years. *chuckles* If lucky I find maybe four to six hours per day. Need the C-pap now too, which helps I know but it's aggravating. T'is life though, reckon we all do that aging bit. Swore I was going to be the rooster.

Mmm....think biting can be understandably excused right now. Though I will be honest that many are using that excuse knowingly thinking and claiming false immunity. But like you, and others here that are under actual social personal pressure, it is 100% excusable. So no need for excuses, apologies or anything. :)
The others, ......no comment.

Another day in lockdown. Wife and I have only snapped at each other a couple times, no major incidents here. I think we're coming through this quite strong as a couple. We're both healthy. Still have a roof over our heads and food in the fridge.

Got an email this morning confirming that unemployment applications are now being processed. They are doing everything they can to keep me updated and keep me off the phone.

Was waiting on the mailman yesterday, but he seemed to have gotten lost on his way to my house. Informed delivery notified me that I have a package coming from VA, was scheduled to arrive yesterday but now they don't have a delivery date... I'm just curious what it is. My wife didn't order anything and neither did I other than flavors from DIYflavorshack and those are coming Saturday from LV.

The IRS released a schedule of when stimulus checks will be mailed. Im getting a paper check because they don't have bank info for me, I never get tax refunds so they never needed it. According to their schedule, the wife and I will receive paper checks in early June.... sigh.... tried the get my payment tool on their website that's supposed to allow you to enter direct deposit info but I'm one of millions of people that for some reason, that tool doesn't work.

Im still here, and I'm smiling. I have good friends, food, my wife and our 2 dogs. And most of my sanity.

All good here. Had a happy moment late today. I got a letter from our Police that my application for my shooters licence was finally approved. Had one years ago but let it go as I was living on the coast and didnt care at the time letting it go. Years now back in the bush have thought "yeah, id like to hunt again" so applied and did all the ticks and checks, been waiting since the end of January doing all I had to do, bit of a wait but was really happy to get the thumbs up from them to get the all systems go with a full licence.
Went and got my photo taken today. All good. Walked in, touched nothing, showed the form of approval, click, told all good and walked out. :)
Cool, just a wait till I can get a firearm purchase approval, they are on hold until notice here because of covid, and then I can buy my rifle. :) Used to love hunting and am looking forward to doing it again no matter how long it takes till I get the go ahead from the Police here. The hardest part is over, got my licence back. :stars2:

Should be an SSDD day. No plans and no place to go other than my backyard.

Our county is at 92 cases and holding steady with 3 deaths. My wife and I are still healthy and the cat still thinks 3AM is a good time to eat.

Stay safe VU!

Amazon Pantry. Jeezus.

Placed a $35 order week before last. Now it starts to dribble in.

Two boxes in the mailbox yesterday from Amazon. One box contained nothing but two cans of Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup. The other box, a bag of coffee pods, a container of Mio, a package of Fig Newtons, and two cans of Spam. The big envelope we got the day before contained one box of Maxwell House Suisse Mocha International coffee.

I paid zero shipping on this order. Amazon is passing these packages to the postal service for delivery. Somebody has to be losing their shirt on this deal, and somehow I don't think it's Amazon.

If I personally had to pay to ship these packages, I'd have been out for at least $15 by now, and half of the order still isn't here. There are two more packages yet to come, on Friday and Saturday. The package on Friday will have one can of pasta sauce, a box of crackers, and another can of Spam. Saturday will be two boxes of Slim Jims meat sticks. That's another $12 at least for two more packages. $27 shipping on a $35 grocery order.

So ask yourself. Who is paying for this? Answer? WE ARE, in the rates we pay for USPS shipping. Plus things like this have to be driving the postal service right into the ground.

Am I wrong? This is Amazon's "efficiency"? A shining example of the way it has made its owner one of the richest guys in the world?

Please, if you can, explain this to me.

I have an order from Walmart of TP that was supposed to be here by the 17th which has been delayed. No shipping email and I found it is in transit coming from Ca by Friday. I ordered a Nespresso Virtuo Stainless POD and that originally said the 24th but got it last Friday. Shippers are inundated with orders so shit is out of control.

Still nothing new at my house. I need to clean some tanks today, and some drip tips. That will take up about 10 minutes, lol. Kitty has some fresh catnip so she's racing up and down the hall. Hubby thought he had arthritis in his hands, doctor said nope, it's gout! Started the meds and all is better in 2 days, wow. Spring is here, I can here lawnmowers, weed whackers, tree trimmers and a chain saw.
Stay safe and healthy please

Much the same as Wal-mart can save costs by letting the government pay for employee insurance. So efficient and corporately stunning a strategy.

Kind of explains the rabid fight against the proposal to raise the minimum wage, doesn't it? The wage itself isn't the problem. It's all the shit that comes running downhill after that!

Kind of explains the rabid fight against the proposal to raise the minimum wage, doesn't it? The wage itself isn't the problem. It's all the shit that comes running downhill after that!

Well the argument at the time with raising the minimum wage is automation. Why pay $15 hrly plus another $15 hrly in benefits for humans when Capital can get electric, or automation systems to do the same job 24/7/366 for not even $0.20 hrly? There's no hassle with automation either. Once it's up and running, good to go. sure you might need a few scattered "minders" to ensure it stays the course but you can hire/fire part timing high school kids to do that. Capital still wins even paying these few "minders".

And consider we got robotics preforming surgeries on a regular basis now. Overall there's no difference from a robot doing it or a human, in fact the robot might be more accurate, more sterile and provide a better surgery experience. They got algorithms that write books, articles too. I know at least twenty years ago there was GPS in tractor trailers and that's only improved, the dispatch can override the truck and keep it on the GPS course if required. Automation fits into more now than people care to think. It's effective, efficient and keeps emerging innovation. Capital for sure loves lower costs.

The real kicker being artificial intelligence. Google has what it calls AML (Automated Machine Learning). This allows machines to look at a problem, program themselves to handle the problem, if any further problems arise it can re-progam itself. A video on Youtube exists showing a demonstration of a robot with this AML loaded into. The title Robots to Replace Soldiers. It very scarily made the case they could.

It will not be technology killing people. No, technology is a tool like a gun. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Any tool can only do as instructed by human intention. If there's a fault in the technology it comes from us that originate it. It's our fault.

No, I'm not suggesting some doomsday foresight in writing this. I am just seeing the writing on the wall in front of us. And I see it for what it is. Consider too how we have suspended the Posse Comitatus Act recently in order to handle this disease. We have National Guard offering aid to states. Sure up front it seems innocent enough, the Federal government is helping the citizens. On the other hand the military has control of the medical industry at the moment. a lot easier to roll out mandatory vaccines, sterilizations when having force or threat of it administering medicine.

One could argue the National Guard is for the states themselves. Fine but it also takes Federal funding and supplies. Want to wager how quickly it will follow "party line" over state's rights? But then as I said I'm not looking to convey doomsday. I'm sure everything will be "fine, just peachy fine". I'm probably over thinking it all anyway, I do that.

You mean the citizens...

Or possibly serfs, yeah.

Good morning VU!

Wife is heading in for a 12hr floor shift... she is not acclimated to that many hours on her feet anymore, feel for her.

Packed a large lunch for her, told her if it’s not enough to text me and I’ll do a drive by food delivery for her and the icu... many restaurants here will also door dash for free to medical professionals...

Family is well, I am doing well.

Be safe everyone!

She is so drama...

She is shadowing, so she had to let the scheduled RN do all the work.

The part that is cut off says that.

I texted her to tell her to hydrate and I get that response

Well, another day, working on a massive spreadsheet at home. Tired. Of. It.

Staying here all day, both of us, nothing is forcing us to leave the house, except to pick up the mail this afternoon (from the mailbox that's 1/4 mile down this farm road we live on).

Hoping the Governor will be on TV this afternoon. I've come to rely on his little talks three times a week, but he wasn't on yesterday because the state Legislature reconvened. We're up over 9,000 cases in Virginia now, 12 in my county. We're still accelerating, so not time to take foot off the brake yet.

No news from my kids, I guess everyone is ok. I'd hear otherwise.

Hope you are all doing well, having patience with each other, keeping busy and out of trouble.

Futzed around with the Raspberry Pi yesterday. Got font sizing figured out. I created a user for myself and for my wife rather than using the pi UID. I gave myself sudo access. For CLI stuff I login with SSH so I have a full sized keyboard.

Our county has 94 cases and holding steady at 3 deaths. My wife and I are fine. And yes, the cat is still alive, but still likes early morning feeding.

Stay safe!

I've been ordering all kind of things I'm not used to working with along with what I want.

Every time I cook lately turns into an episode of "chopped" my.thoight process is that so long as I have a protein, and pantry staples I can come up with something.

I have fantastic news!

My unemployment has finally been processed! I just went thru everything online in my account, and did all the certifications for the weeks they are back paying. 6 weeks of back pay from them coming my way. Qualified for 39 weeks total. Looks like my wife and I will be able to make our mortgage payment!

"every little thing is gonna be alright, ..."

Not that anyone here is crying save maybe for my tears of joy for Spearhead. :) Figured we all needed some loving spread round. If your interested, may want to check out the inspiration for this song. Steve fucking rocks! :)

Dish soap, liquid has been hard to get in our town for I think 6 weeks now. Aldi has had none at all in that whole time. Their brand is the best to in my opinion. TP no worries now but washing lquid still scarce.

Same day here Iike a scratched record playing the same verse over and over.
But if thats my only complaint I am doing very well compared to so many others elsewhere.
Something nice to look at.
Here's some Corellas enjoying some rain in a tree out back of our place. They love hanging upside down when it does, you can see a couple doing it.

Having some matcha before hitting it again

We are doing well - been clearing brush over some rotten pallets that were obstructing a path to a stand of overgrown sugar cane - preparing to build a real chicken coop

Beautiful day, may as well appreciate it for what it is

Good morning VU!

Wife survived her 12 hr shift LOL

I drew a bath for her, set up candles and had her relaxing music playing when she got home at 8pm. She passed out pretty much immediately after. It's funny, can be in bed watching TV and I hear a thunk lol... the ipad falls onto her face...

She has a short day today, 6-10a to finish her 40

Outside of that, SSDD

Be safe everyone!
