My theory is that it is based on the medical care system that each country has.
the UK has a socialist govt provided system. The healthier the patients are the less the government has to pay for their care.
The USA has a profit based private system (mostly) andthe sicker people are the more taxes and such the government takes in. thru medical device taxes, drug taxes, and just plain income tax on the industry and the workers. And the HC industry makes more profits from more sick people.
Another difference is that in the UK no HC industry rep is allowed to directly contact ANY health care provider they must work thru the govt health agency. So no free drug samples, no kickbacks for prescribing, etc.
The AMA And most US HC industry groups coming out and wanting to ban vaping supports my theory...
