I can't remember the last time I wore a suit and tie..... I don't own one either......:teehee:
Well, that was back in 1991. I think there are still some ties in my closet and sports jacket (several sizes too large), but not a suit. Can't even remember the last time I had to wear a suit (other than at GC), but I often wore one just because I liked it back in the '60s-'80s.

Wow, that's an incredible picture if it's not photoshopped......:giggle:
I don't even know if Photoshop existed back then. I remember my Canon was on a tripod and I held the shutter open (via cable) for several minutes at night. I took lots of T-storm pictures at the canyon, but this one turned out best.

I don't remember if that one ever made it in a magazine, but I have had a few published (and short stories and art, such as Dirt Bike magazine, etc.). Ah, the good old days.......

By the looks of the photo, you must have been right by the lodge......
I don't remember exactly where that one was taken... probably up near Powell Point (a mile or so west of the lodges). The lighting on the canyon rocks was provided by the lightning behind me. I don't know if they have spot lights on the canyon today, but they did not light up anything back then. I remember a tourist asking me once "At what time do they turn on the lights?" and I just laughed. This is a national park, not an amusement park. The average tourist had an IQ equal to the speed limit (25).

Anyway, the pictures looks like the camera was facing slightly northeast.

East northeast. I think the North Rim lodge is just out of the picture to the left. You can't really see the lodge itself without a telescope (and then only the roof), but in daytime you can pick out the general location. I think I have a few pics looking down on Phantom Ranch (about 4,500 feet below the camera). That was such an awesome place. During my nine months there, I spent nearly every day off wandering through the Anasazi ruins (and some Pueblo) all around NE Arizona. Tons more pictures...

Well, time to put my ancient butt to bed. Yak more tomorrow.

Not bad, actually. The sun showed its face for awhile and the thermometer went all the way up to 49 -- well, for a few minutes anyway. Most of the day was 40-45 but that wasn't too bad either. Winds from the west in the 5-8 mph category (light breeze). A good deal of the white shit melted.

Did you get up to GC today?

That's a good day, compared to others.

I didn't do much today, except fuck with paperwork, which I despise

And here it is, 10 PM and it is still 32 degrees. Maybe even the frozen cow shit will be soft again by morning. :)

Didn't go to the canyon....woke up with email from my account.

If American airlines doesn't charge and arm and a leg, I'm ready to leave.

AND, the GF called this afternoon, with a list of shit she needs but can't get delivered to EC without costing a leg and an arm, so I have to get it from Amazon and bring it with me. But I didn't get around to ordering it today

Gonna have express delivery so you can be sure to take possession before your rescheduled flight? So, once you're in the air, we won't hear from you again until January?

I have internet service in EC.
I be really corn fused now.... I thought you said before that you'd have to use your satellite phone, which was really expensive. But then, I guess I would be incommunicado simply because I am a cheap Scrooge.

It's not that expensive, compared to other things I blow money on.
