ok ... well this is going to be grossly underwhelming following that display of craftsmanship up there. But we all do what we do.

No that we're all calmed down from that; (lmao) here is a Fralien I put in the Tobhino a minute ago. 2x26 ka1 frames, 9x.5 N80 cores, 36 SS316L wrap. 22g decore for the swooshy swooshy.

Just don't say you didn't even use any magnification to help staggering that 50

Once you get a feel for tension, angle and if your paraclap has no errors, it pretty easy to fuse something quickly. If you have any errors while fusing they tend to stand out, even with 50g ;)

This is something I am just learning. It is extremely hard for me to not try and force every fuse into every stag individually. But I'm starting to get into wire that I can't see well enough to do that. Even with 4x mag the 42 is hard to see, for me. Anything smaller and I might as well not be wearing them anyways. The hardest part for me is- I don't have steady hands at all. So I might just be stuck in the 40-42 range for anything more than just plain old fusing.

I tend to rest my hand on my lap when I'm doing staggers, with a good distance I could even sneeze and hand wiggles won't matter

I dont do any skipping though, not yet, hurts my head and I hate taking breaks when I'm on a build

Yep Like @Pegleg Meg is sayin, the further away your hand is from the wire, the less your hand movement will change the fuse angle.

@Pegleg Meg @chrisakasparky - Yah I always clap/fuse at least a foot or more from my wire. Unless im doing a non standard fuse pattern , then I'm all up close and personal with it. I rest my wrist on my slide out keyboard drawer and slide down the edge of it. But even then my hands tend to shake a bit, and I have yet to figure out how to EXACTLY center the wire where there is no wobble during the spin. I don't tend to have problems with stag/fuse 38. I probably just need more practice with the superfine (40g+). I'm sure i'll get it eventually.

clamps help with that ...the chuck in my drill doesn’tmeet flush at the end so it’s a pain to get stuff centre in it ..a clamp like raymos one or hand vice really helps

Well I popped a fuse installing the coil in the KTX....
When I put the coil in and tightened one screw down I put in the coiling jig and for whatever reason I let go thinking the mod would hold it up, it fell off my bench and hit the floor...Mod, RDA, and Jig. The coil was horribly bent out of shape and I did my best to fix it back up, in doing so I popped a fuse.

Yah I've been meaning to grab a clamp from @raymo2u . Just never seem to have the funds while they are in stock :(
Use a bent paperclip loop like I do!
Tried the paper clip route. Can't figure out how to get wider builds on it without bending the shit out of either the stick or the clip. I have some 18g steal wire I've been playing with a lot lately trying to find different ways to make a consistent center point to work from. I have one, that I bent to look just like a cotter pin, in the tool box that is my go to for almost everything up to 1.5 mm wide or so. And I seem to be finding pockets of success with other bending variations on wider builds. Just haven't quite nailed it down yet.

and omg .... that ssfc is B-E-A-UTIFULL!! (please tell me someone gets the reference)

@KingPin! I used a few, no one was home :D:D When it hit the ground I just starred at it...then picked it up expecting a black hole and then tried to fix it, when that fuse lifted when I finished fixing the coil is when I couldnt help but laugh nervously, cry, and swear...

@chrisakasparky Yes, its from the TM24 Pro

@WPMac You can always get a HandVise from Ebay ($12)
Its what made me design the clamps, I used it before the clamps. Make sure you have a 1/2" drill chuck for it to fit though.
Reference was from Pet Detective right?

That was just for frames or multiple round cores - I let that method go recently, though, and just use the chuck for frames

And a raymo clamp for wide alll-aribbon builds yep

Got a little wild in the middle. I always feel like it's going so slow,so I speed up then trash the coil. After the 7 minute hedgehog I feel like this should go faster.

I was going to sit down and build this morning and I had a thought. So I started looking back on my builds. I didn't start documenting them until I decided to delve deeper than 2 core claps and basic twists, just a few short months ago.

The point of this post ---> Don't ever let anyone tell you you can't do something. Anything is possible when you put your mind to it. Keep building!!!!

Come on a journey with me for a few of my (successful) firsts!!

I try to build at least 4-5 days a week. Even if it's just a 10 minute session to throw something simple together. As a builder, you know this is such a practiced skill. If I take more than a day or two off I can always tell the next time I sit down behind the drill. And, as a musician, I learned a looong time ago that a practice regiment is key to unlocking potential!

I have this problem near the end of almost all of my builds. I get impatient during that last inch or so. I always have to tell myself to slow down and get it right ... otherwise I end up having wasted the time I have already invest, not to mention the wire ;)

I have to do the same. Slow it down. Lol I need to build more. 3 nights for band practice slows it down sometimes.

You're kidding me, another musician? I'm pretty sure now that 90% of coil builders are either recovering addicts, or musicians. Or both. Lmao xD

A Number of pics are missing. Can only upload 10 pics into a single post :(

Download Gyazo, then right click any picture and you will see "Send to Gyazo" and select that option. It screen captures the shot and automatically opens the page in your browser for the screen shot. Then right click the screen capture and "copy image address", come to the forum post and click the Picture button next to the Smile Button and paste in the address.

Its alot faster and easier then it sounds and it allows you to add 20 more pictures per post on top of the 10 you can upload normally. This is how Ive been adding pics here. Gyazo allows you to screen capture and screen record by selecting what to capture with a rectangle crop by just clicking the Gyazo button the the desktop too.

@Wtmke1 - Killer! My Kit is a 5 pc pearl export from the mid 90's. Still play's like the day I got it. I'm a cymbal fanatic myself.
@Pegleg Meg - yup that seems to be the trend :D
@raymo2u - Sweet!! thanks man!

So My Kids are cleaning the living room they destroyed ... and I'm sitting here being the foreman. I'm not much for TV. So, while I play warden and continue to motivate the inmates with threats of the trash can and toys ... I pick up this fat naked stick I have laying around, and the leftover 38g decore and start hand wrapping. 5 minutes later we have this -->
