I hear what you are saying Phil, did that all my life going on 67 now and retired Thank God
64 here and retired 2 years.
Phil: Just so you know who you are playing with, we three are the start-up crew for this club. I'm 69 and not retired - instead I have been totally disabled for the last 18 years (OK, forceably retired) and still work the farm everyday.

Well, there is no income in this "hobby farm." I know steel is heavy and the work is no doubt very hot, but when you have a broken back like I do, lifting a 60# sack of wheat or a bale of hay can feel like a steel I-beam. And, as Crom just pointed out, I have not had a day off since we first acquired cows (and horses and chickens and...)

I know what you mean about a broken back because Sarah's Bak is messed up too

As much as Phillip complains about his shoulder, and there being no other type of work around here, I ain't sure how long he can keep at it.

Yeah, even though you weren't on here yet, Sarah and I have already compared notes on that issue. Our big commonality is that we are both too damn stubborn to let the pains stop us from getting our work done - even if it seems to others that what we are doing might be illogical given our physical problems. You live with her, but you probably understand me because of it.

Well, shoulders hurt as much as backs sometimes. I have had my left rotator cuff screwed for a couple years now, but do not want to let the knife-happy surgeons have their way with me, so I do exercises and every time I think I have it licked, I screw it up again. So, Phil, we have another thing in common.

How you feeling today, Jimi?

Get any needed rain?

Was decent here today, low 90's....low humidity.....fantastic day.

Heading to EC next week for a few days....hope the weather is good, we have a load of bananas to plant.

Yup. Life on the farm... (well, in SD anyway)
Got the rest of this place mowed today and moved a bunch of junk from shop to storage (carriage room) and back the other way.

So far, it is the best one I've ever had, and I had a CubCadet before (uh, about 7 years ago?). I liked it too, but this one outperforms the previous one by a large margin.
Great, think I'll grab one.

the price they're selling for. In SA their twice that price.
This model is the XT1 and went for $1599 at Runnings (plus tax, about $1700). Tractor Supply is advertising them for $100 off, but their bottom line is still $1800 (plus tax). So shop around a bit.

I'll ask the GF later tonight to look at prices tomorrow, I'd bet my life they cost twice as much there

Just another random thought... check a riding mower that has a PTO (generally they are called Garden Tractors) and that way you can get a tiller attachment and get twice the use out of one machine.
John deer has one of those it has a drive on mower deck to

Don't need a PTO, just a lil tractor to mow grass and pull a small trailer.
