I've been very curious about nic salts too. I have a few questions.
@David Wolf , thank you for the great insight. So you typically still MTL 24mg? I'm 18mg from 24mg. I had 2 shop owners tell me I'm a beast for vaping 18mg. I hope to drop to 12mg by Christmas when I use up my 18mg.
1. Are nic salts available in crystals as well as premixed?
2. Why such a huge difference in nic levels in salts vs. 100% base?
3. If I have some low mg pre-made ejuice, would adding salt mute the flavor if I want to bump it up?
4. Is there a standard for salts vs. base? (i.e. 18mg of 100% base = ?? of salts?
Hey sorry for the slow response, I don't get on as often these days Trixy. Yeah, the current Trend is high powered vaping low nic concentration, consuming 10 to 30 ml a day ejuice. If someone is vaping 10 ml a day of 6 mg nic, that about equals my daily intake of nicotine, at 2 to 2 1/2 ml a day, 24 mg in one SXK Doggystyle tank, 36 mg in a stealthy ego one 1.8 ml tank (about like a pod mod the way I use it). Fols

Not that I am aware of, however there's a thread on VU somewhere I"ve been to, where people are experimenting diy nic salts using acids such as Benzoic Acid. Yyou best know what you're doing if you get into this, make sure you have lab grade, know math and a bit of chemistry, lol. I'm not there yet on making my own, easier for me to buy nic salts base from Nude Nicotine.
2. Why such a huge difference in nic levels in salts vs. 100% base?
I'm not sure what you are asking? Do you mean differences in ejuice nic salts from nic salts base? If so, well its the same reason you have big differences in regular nic base from ejuice, the concentrated base is for diy, adding PG, VG, and flavors. I know you know this, so I am likely misunderstanding your question haha. If you mean why are nic salts juices so much higher than regular nic juices (typically, but you can get lower as some have posted above), the answer is that the Juul started this craze of nic salts, manufactures started making pod mods kind of like the juul, and juice manufacturers started making high nic nic salts juices. Since these devices hold very little juice typically, they make it stronger. If I vape on a pod mod at say 36 to 45 mg nic salts, with only 6 or so hits and I've got my nic fix the same as if i still smoked a cigarette. Thats why pod mods are quite popular.
3. If I have some low mg pre-made ejuice, would adding salt mute the flavor if I want to bump it up? I haven't really judged that nic salts mutes flavor, but it does have a smell (benzoic acid typiically) and a bit of its own taste which compliments some flavors like Peppermint and other mints, and slightly degrades others (like naturally extracted tobacco). This is my subjective opinion though.
4. Is there a standard for salts vs. base? (i.e. 18mg of 100% base = ?? of salts?
Well my opinion is that 18 mg nic salts is equal to 18 mg regular nicotine as far as nicotine buzz goes. However from a throat hit perspective, that 18 g nic salts will be far smoother than the 18 mg/ml nic base.
So I treat them the same, if i want 18 mg nic I use that, regardless of whether its salts or base, since I need nic, lol.
