... It worketh. It Squonketh. ...

Watch yourself. Depending on the juice, the coil, the mod you might get about 6-10 good hits off of 1 squonk. I'm sure you'll have a 'taste' for when the juice is running out on the wick soon enough. :) I'm averaging about 8-12 good hits but I'm also finagling with coils, different wire types, different airflow, using 80-95% VG. Not really seeing a lot of gunking up as much as I see toated coils. *grin* Yep, I know that's gunk too. I pull the wick, fidgit the coil a little, dry pulse a bit and it cleans up. Rewick, squonk on. :)

Glad you're up and running too. Hope you decide to not go back to tanks. Welcome to the Dark Side(tm), check with @Train about the cookies. I last saw the trolley go by him but not sure where they got to.

:coffee2: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: For all what need, there's some Irish up on the bar as well.

Got to wash laundry today. I was giving thought to go up to the sauna to split wood today. Banish that thought. It's rather human out. that's me saying it's muggy like a beast, humid. You're in it and will sweat out another human. The logs I have in now are indeed oak, massive enough to require me playing big bear with them. I darn sure aren't going to go up and play roulette with a stroke/heart attack. That would be real stupid.

The big problem with both the Santa Rosa and the Anaheim fires is not the lack of water. The problem is the gusts of wind that change direction, the Santa Ana winds that drop the humidity in the teens. We had a lot of vegetation growth with the spring rains. All that stuff is tinder dry now. Add to that the fact that most homes are very near to each other and the wind gusts blow the embers all over.

No way to set up portable wind breaks? I'm thinking something like a sail clothe strung up between two masts standing parallel to one another, maybe have them on caster blocks. Then folks could twist, turn them ... move them elsewhere per need. It would not need to be sail clothe per say but something akin to such a notion, then redirect the wind away from the fires. Douse the fires as quick as can. Use the sail cloths then as condensation water collectors by stuffing the ground end into some safe food grade plastic totes.

Ok, FELLOW squonkers, I am finally squonking. :)

I believe she has been dripping before squonking so probably has a good handle on it. Personally, I can get 15-2- hits off a good squonk, depending on the atty.

Man... I am just a trashcan then compared to you all on how many rips you all can get from a squonk...

I get maybe 5 at best, and honestly I do tiny squonks before I take a rip. Think its old habit from dripping on my Tubes...drip...3-4 rips...drip.

How many you get depends on how willing to flood your coil you are lol. I love a sloppy wet vape with spitback, so I drown my coil when I squonk and can get quiet a few hits in, though I usually reapply early to add to the wetness!

Depends on the atty and wattage. I get around 5-6 from my Wasp nano.

Idk how many I get. Certainly more than when we all used 1.5mm ID microcoils. Could get more by increasing ID, but 2.5mm is my sweet spot

Depends on the atty, the coil and the cotton for me. With my Pulse 24, I have dual exotic coils and Drago cotton and I get about 10ish hits on my Therion 75C. With my Wasp Nano, I've got one basic single wire 9 wrap with Drago cotton on my Pico Squeeze and I'm getting 15+ hits. With my Druga, I have dual exotic coils with Cotton Bacon on my Inbox and I'm getting about 7-8.

Also depends on how big of a pull you take on it. I can't pull longer than 2 seconds, so my pulls aren't nearly as big as the ones I've seen on videos.

I do tend to take longer pulls.
And my Wasp has a 8 wrap parallel 25ga 3mm SS316l coil. slightly spaced and fits perfectly.
Usually vape around 25 watts or so.

My Inbox is at 62w, Therion is at 75w and the Pico Squeeze is at 50w, of course. I did a new coil for the Wasp in the middle of the night last night while on Ambien, so I'm amazed that it works. :giggle: It's 26ga 3mm SS316L. I remember trying to use my coil jig thingie and it kept screwing up for some reason, the wire kept wrapping over on itself, so I ended up just wrapping it around the 3mm stick thing by itself. I usually space my coils but this one isn't.

When I take Ambien, it's like sleepwalking - I'm conscious but not conscious at the same time. I do weird things while under the influence sometimes. I've ordered shit from Amazon and didn't know until it showed up. I've gotten up and cooked meals in the middle of the night. My husband had to hide the car keys at one point. :teehee:

I haven't liked tanks for 2 yrs -- but it will take a lot to make me abandon my Achilles RDAs.... I mean something really drastic, like, their total destruction. :D Squonking is merely a way for me to not be limited SOLELY to my Achilles, since I only have 2 and can't get more. Unless I happen across one someone on a forum is selling. :)

I usually squonk before every hit -- I'm used to super-long wicks dangling in 2.5ml of juice. Because I'm using a Magma as a squonker, I really don't need to worry about over-squonking, unless I just go bananas; the well holds about a ml or a bit more, so it would take a LOT of squonking to over-fill.

I also find it amusing to take a hit and then squonk it again, to watch the residual vapor shoot out the airholes. :giggle:

Squonk mods happen to be pretty handy for out and about use. Don't be surprised if it makes its way into regular use. :)

I've really never had a problem with taking my Achilles everywhere I go, and usually don't even take extra ejuice with me, unless I KNOW I'm going to be away for substantially more than an hour. 2.5ml goes a LONG way, at 9.5w. :) And since Achilles never leak, and titanium doesn't break if you drop it... they're a sweet piece of cake to take everywhere. They're really the most perfect MtL atomizer ever created, which is why I'm so absolutely puzzled and infuriated at them no longer being available.

I really doubt I'll be taking the DB160 out and about; it's huge and heavy, and since it's the only squonker I have that can be adjusted in increments smaller than 1w, I wouldn't want to risk dropping it -- I had a Kanger subox mini at one point -- dropped it VERY SOFTLY inside my purse, and it was completely dead... after just 3 months of use. When I go out and about, I most often take my original Coolfire4 -- I already know that thing can be dropped with great force and velocity on concrete and never miss a lick, still in perfect condition. Ditto the Achilles! (and I put a metal driptip on it, rather than my preferred acrylics -- because they don't break!)

Here's a weird question about squonk mods, though -- can a squonk mod be used as a regular mod, if it's got a regular atomizer on it? I do like that the DB160 is dual-battery, that really could be very handy if I'm going to be away from a charger for a while. I just dunno if it would work with a regular atomizer.

Innokin really does make some under appreciated devices. I've been recommending the CoolFire Pebble and the Oceanus repeatedly recently even though they're not what I need.

I was thinking of the admonition don't drip and drive, but if a dripping lasts you that long, probably not a problem for you.

There are much more portable setups like that Inbox, but the marriage of compact, affordable, and durable is still waiting to be found I think.

Hey all... I can't keep up with this thread, but I figured I'd drop in since there were definitely polarizing opinions on the appearance of the Athena Kits... They have changed the retail version, and the design is there, but they all match the device. So "Athena" is now subtle and black on the Black one, etc... We just have silver, I just figured since, along with the location of the squonk bottle, the design was seemingly gaudy. There are some good videos up now... It's a solid seeming device and nice atty. I'm thinking and hoping that they did well here, and initially it seems so. The atty is very similar to the Dead Rabbit, and the mod will sit 25mm attys.

Cliff Notes... People seemed to dislike all the contrasting colors for the design... they match and are subtle now. Also both panels come off, and I'm thinking we will have options coming in the future. It seems to be the word. This is looking like a great kit to get started with. Happy squonking all! I'm pumped for the VAMPS! I also have some new pics up, but make sure if you watch a video you watch one that mentions they have the retail version...

I replaced the exotics in my Druga with dual single strand SS316L 26ga 9 wrap coils and I have to say that I think I like them much better than the exotics. Go figure. I thought the flavor would be better with exotics but it doesn't seem like it. They're coming it at a combined 35 ohms, which I'm happy with.

Still having trouble with my coil jig thingie though, no idea why. I used it fine before but now the wire just seems to wrap over on itself. I think my brain is dying. :teehee: But just winding it with my hands around the coil jig pole thingie works just fine.

Pushing back towards the handle with the winder will cause stacked wraps. Light touch is the key. I wrap parallels with my coilmaster v3.
I tried fancy staggering gargoyle hoof coils and rapidly came back to round wire builds.
Parallels are nice though in single coil attys.

I tried varying the amount of pressure I used. Dunno why I could do it before without any trouble but am having trouble today, although last night was the first time I did it with SS. Was using Kanthal before this. Maybe that's why.

A squonk mod will always be at least as big as a compact dual 18650 mod due to the juice bottle being inside it.
Absolutely, I'm not looking for a fountain atomizer on a regulated tube for sure. And the Inbox is not bad on size or even price at all, but there are much smaller chips than Evolv, and there's much smaller forms than a box, and there's definitely more durable gear for sure.

I'm looking for a new camping mod that I can abuse really. :)

Yeah, I'm not feeling the mech life anymore.

If you're a cheaplitist, I'm a Laz-litist. And I know from years working with the kinds of electricity that won't just bite ya, but bite and hold, lazy and complacent have no business around unprotected circuits.

I think I'm at the point where I'll need to become the change I want to see.

When I get down to it, I'm hoping to keep materials under $100. The sticking point in design is Sugru is both a little ugly and a lot over priced for what it is, but durability is high on the priority list.

Might have to research that same Silicone kit I recommended for making air hole plugs to see if there's a way to bond it to a surface permanently.

Of my 3 original vv3's, all over 3 yrs old, 2 of them are still in perfect working order --the 3rd has fallen victim to that same 510 problem, getting pushed too far down, and when I tried to "pop" it back up, I think I damaged it; it was reading resistance all over the place, so I think that one is FUBAR. But yeah, those original CF4's with their full-metal bodies, are tough as tenpenny nails.

Absolutely not a problem! I only have to refill it about 3 times a day, and only that often because of my gunk problem; there's usually a bit of browned waste juice at the bottom of the well so I dump it and refill. It's the same quantity as the Kanger T3S's I started out with; really kind of a cross between an RDA and a small tank -- but with none of the annoyances of tanks like the vacuum, or having to remove it to fill it. Or leaking. :D

Cool thought, but with the way that the DB160 is made, I dunno if that would work; the little plastic thingie fits inside the mouth of the squonk bottle, so the capped bottle would have to be even smaller than a 7ml bottle, to fit. Not really all that workable.

Never a tank, though... an Achilles RDA!

I've told every Innokin rep I've been able to pin down for 30 seconds that is a thing that needs to happen.

I've gotten them to admit it's something they've at least thought about and done some research on.

That's the thing about Innokin, they will absolutely not release until they are sure they got it right.

I guess that pays off for them, with most of their releases. Maybe they learned from their earlier hardware, some of which had a wide assortment of issues -- like the fire btn on the original SVD. I considered that one when I wanted to move up from the vv3's, but after reading about all the problems with it, I went with a Sigelei Zmax flat-top instead -- some of those had fire btn issues too, but apparently I got lucky, or maybe just treat my mods more carefully; never had a single issue with those Zmax's. If Innokin had come out with a box mod with the button in a convenient place sooner (sooner than the MVP v3!), that might have been my first box mod... but having the button in the middle of the wide face seemed completely un-ergonomic to me, so I got an Eleaf, one of the 30w ones, as my first box mod.
