It should be in the constitution. If you sell pizza you must sell beer.
I got 1 slice of pizza for around $150....
and this one sold no beer. No alcohol sales on Sunday in KY.
Except at restaurants that get 75% of their income from food sales. In some counties. We still have dry counties here where NO alcohol is sold period.

I didn't think you cared for beer anyway.

We still have some dry places in GA too, though they finally got rid of the antiquated state law about no sales on Sundays. Means-diddly-shit to me, since I haven't had a drink in nearly 25 yrs, and very happy about that (usually!). :D

Happy Memorial Day, fuggers... the neighborhood pyros are at it already, around here.

yeah Ex DIL just getting by on money and has to have what must have been a $250 birthday party for a 9 yr old....
Priorities.
Of course the wife unit paid for most of it so NO vape budget for the next month or three.
and no new shoes for my poor old feet.
Dude that sucks! If you can't even get new shoes because of this I would separate my bank account from hers. Or at least stash some money aside. That's ridiculous

My County was dry up until about six years ago. Now they sell beer and wine.
Happy Memorial Day to all you Fugees.

Looking at the radar... it seems to be moving pretty quickly; it might be outta here by around 6-ish, so maybe it won't interfere with the steaks on the grill. :)

Cool, Juicy. Musta got off early today?

We did in fact enjoy a lovely steak grill-out last evening, and then I was so full of steak, baked spud, and salad, I really had little inclination to visit much around here -- I mostly just read, nice sedentary activity when you're stuffed to the eyebrows. :D

I got my flavors from BCF today, so tomorrow, or possibly later tonight, I can start mixing. I may go ahead and at least start tonight since tomorrow is payday, end of the month so gotta do two banks instead of one, and there are more online things to pay, rather than money-order pay as is mostly the case in the middle of the month, so I'll be rather busy most of the day tomorrow.

Discovered something very unpleasant when I went to the mailbox, though... I had noted a few ants in it in the past couple weeks... with the heavy rains of the last few days, that has now become a fucking infestation, so we gotta hit Home Depot and find something sufficiently noxious to KILL 'EM ALL!!!!! I know ants have their place... but my mailbox ain't it!

Afternoon fugee's. What a miserable day its been here in Hooterville today :(

Rained all day today. Some jackass loss control and left his truck in the ditch in front of my moms house. Been there all damn day. Had to run to town and get some prescriptions and it really sucked when I got home and I didnt have a wiggling dancing grinning lil boy here happy that I was home.

Will be glad when the weekend gets here and Rascal can come home :(

We bought some shit at Home Depot for the muthafuckin ants; I'll see tomorrow if they're dead. :)

Also... I took advantage of another memorial day sale -- 70% off appliances at Sears Outlet, I found a smooth-top stove for $410 -- instead of the $899 it is usually!!!!! I'll find out tomorrow if it's really still in stock. Got $400 in the savings acct, which I'll transfer and pay on the credit card, if we do actually get it.

The stove is in stock!!!! We'll be picking it up after work. Unfortunately, it's going to require some SERIOUS modifications in our kitchen, because it's 2 inches wider than the stove we have now, which JUST fits -- so we gotta de-caulk the countertop's back edge away from the ceramic backslash, cut 2 inches off the countertop that extends over about 2.5" of open space next to the fridge, and then figure out how to shove the entire cabinet over 2 inches. So it'll probably be a whole-weekend affair.

Andria

ETA: and the fucking ants are DEAD, but I nearly got into a fight with the fucking stupid mailman (NOT our good regular guy!), about him handing me the mail instead of putting it into the poison-and-dead-ant-encrusted mailbox. I had to yank it out of his hand as he's trying to insert it into that mess!

I know... and I told him this morning, before I got the email, that if it turned out that the stove wasn't actually still in stock, I wouldn't cry about it, because of that. But they do have it, and that is absolutely the BEST price on a glass smooth-topped stove I have EVEr seen, so he'll do what needs doing -- he bitches me at me constantly because I hate trying to keep a regular stove-top clean; you have to fucking DISASSEMBLE a regular electric stovetop to stay on top of the grease -- but from our last residence, we know that I don't have any problem keeping a smooth top clean, it just takes a special cleaning product to get rid of burnt on grease. So he's more than willing. :D Anything that will help a housework-slacker like ME to be less of a slacker, he's all over it. :giggle:

BTW, you dont need all that special cleaning crap for one of those glass top stoves. I been having mine since 2002 and I use to use that stuff, then wised up. Clean it with your dish rag, use some scotch brite if you need to and really burnt on gunk use a knife blade like the blades in a utility knife. My 15 year old stove has no scratches on the top, looks new still and that is how I clean it.

Well, the EXCELLENT news is that the online specs were WRONG -- it's 29 7/8" wide like any other standard size range. :)

I like using that product; it's not expensive, and does a fandamntastic job of getting rid of the burnt on crud, which I was never able to get off by any other means -- I wouldn't dream of taking a knife to it! Nice thing about that chalk-liquid: if you have stainless cookware that gets scorch marks, that shit will remove the black on those, too.

I like cooking with gas and baking with electric

Grew up cooking with gas and liked it. The GF family home burned down when she was a lil girl because of a gas stove and she never wanted us to cook with gas because of it.

I want to build a solar oven. It looks so damn cool to me.

I can't stand having gas appliances either; if it hadn't been for y'all making me see sense about the water heater, I'd have had it replaced with an electric one. But everything y'all said about how much it would cost to do that, plus the operating costs of electric vs. gas, talked me round, and I'm pretty happy with our gas water heater -- though I do catch a whiff of gas from time to time, when I'm in there starting laundry, and it always makes me paranoid.

Replacing our gas stove with an electric one back in 2013 was one of the smartest things we've ever done, and we were fortunate that along with the gas hookup behind it, there was also already a 240 electric plug, so it was only a matter of capping the gas line.

I doubt we'll get the new stove hooked up tonight, given how late it already is, and we have to get at least some milk and something quick for dinner tonight, but tomorrow night we may be able to get it all done. :)

Mornin' fuggers, how's all my favorite peeps?

I woke up early, thinking of my new stove. :giggle: And how I've got some cleaning to do, and getting everything out of the way so it doesn't get knocked off by the acrobatics of getting one stove out of there and another put in. And perusing the "Use and Care Guide"... RTFM is my motto! :giggle:

Perusing the "Use and Care Guide?" You mean we are actually supposed to read those instead of just throwing them in the trash?

I always do. :) But then... I used to spend HOURS printing out the docs to BBS software on a dot-matrix printer. Sounded like a machine gun in my house, most days. :giggle: And I would STILL rather read docs, in most cases, than watch some video. The only exception to that was with a new (to me) printer my husband just brought home from work, where his boss was getting rid of it -- it's a Canon multi-purpose (print, copy, scan) and is a lot more complicated than the Epson multi-purpose I currently have, so I watched the little video on how to insert/replace the ink cartridges -- and it was mercifully silent, no incomprehensible accent to try and decipher, no "uhh" every-other word... just an animated sequence of all the necessary steps -- most useful video I've ever watched. :)

With electric ovens you really need to keep it - I have mine in a ziplock in the pantry

Some of these newfangled appliances are too high tech to just plug and cook

Yep, indeed. My new one is "self-cleaning" (ohh, if ONLY!) so I need to know how all the settings work. Especially for the oven and broiler. The stovetop, it's pretty straightforward; the 2 front "eyes" have the double ring; the knobs on the back indicate to turn them one way for the inner ring, and the other way for the larger outer ring. One of the BEST features is that in the back row, between the 2 small eyes, there's a "warming zone", which is adjustable low to high -- that will be fucking PERFECT for the hot water I keep going all day, for my hot tea. I was beginning to wonder if I needed to invest in a samovar, but this warming zone makes that unnecessary. :giggle:
