Picked up one of these a few days ago.
It's quite the beast, centered 31mm 510.
Display and controls take a bit to get used to.
Hits a lot harder than power setting suggests due to curve.

Works great on my 24mm subzero RDA with 5 wraps Kanthal 18ga @4mm ID. 0.085Ω!

If only it were teal you'd know it inside and out by now. Lmao.

I like the carbon fiber but wouldn't mind the light in the back being teal LMAO

That would be cool if you could change the color of that light and have the ability to turn it off. Yihi needs to really step up their game in the app/software department. Especially at their prices.

with all the options on the chip, it's surprising that changing the LED color isn't one of them. especially since smok did it years ago and now sig is doing it

Not sure how i missed it but damn I wish other vendors would use that centered 31mm 510 on their mods. This proves it can be done.
the mods just need to be a little taller usually for a centered 510 pin and it uses a little extra wire but it's easily doable in any mod

Say it ain't so  better than the Hohn Wrecker?
I love my HT mods and the performance I get from them but they are getting a little long in the tooth. Still my favorite board but the Yihi is really close board wise. Looks and aesthetics wise the G Class is far and away the winner. In an overall scoring situation I'd have to give it to my G Class. Sorry. To be fair though the G Class costs almost 4x as much as I paid for my G2.

Just ordered the VisciousAnt Knight. What's the thought of getting this one too?

This would definetly be on my wishlist if it could work with Android. Is yihi going to build a chipset compatible with android? Id love having the bluetooth control with my phone.

I have an android phone also so I put the software on my ipad. Not really that impressed with the bluetooth control. I don't think it should be a deal breaker. As Jack said, just a great chip. Very close to the Hohm and DNA chips. My only complaint is that the Yihis seem to be much harder on batteries than the DNA or Hohm mods in general. I hadn't used my Q class in awhile and tried to fire it up and nothing. Took the batteries out to charge and they were totally drained, I mean totally, didn't even register on the charger. Never had that happen before on any other mod.

You are spot on with the battery life on the YiHi boards, they do tend to munch the battery faster.

Did anybody think to ask them about it? ;)

I wrote Yihi/SXMini yesterday as I had seen they mentioned to write them if interested in the Android Beta on their Facebook page. So I did.. :deadhorse:?

I'm happy to report that they have made it available for download today (no announcement / news yet). You can get the beta Android SXi-Q app here: http://yihisxmini.com/support/000003.html :stars2:

They said any feedback is greatly appreciated so please let them ([email protected]) know your experiences for the betterment of all.

Enjoy!

Great review Anthony!

I just ordered the black carbon fiber from Varitube and can hardly wait to get this in my hands. Not sure how I missed it but just noticed it's USB type C which is added bonus. :)
Thanks! I seriously love this mod. I'm sad I have to use other mods to review lmao.

Black and Brown are in stock here ($219 - the going rate):
https://www.availvapor.com/devices/...=Affiliate&utm_source=ebay&utm_campaign=21181

The only discount I have found (sorta) was here on the Carbon Fiber
https://ecig-city.com/collections/y...ber-sxmini-g-class-bundle?variant=21888570883
$229 and you get a Smok TFV8 BBB and 2 25Rs

The 25Rs alone make of the price dif.and I liked the CF so I ordered the deal. Got my tracking the next day, shows up Monday!

Just finished my review on it :)

Nice, quantitative and qualitative review. I don't have mine yet but about what I expected to see/hear. I was torn about the joystick too, I'm sure it'll take a little getting used to. I think it's a better interface than a touch screen so that quick changes can be done by feel alone. I expect the software will improve over time and they'll add some arrows or text entry into SXi-Q along with the sliders. email and tell them!

Only thing I would change is that you say the Android app promised but not yet delivered.but the open beta actually started yesterday. Perhaps add a quick note at the end that it at least exists now.

Kudos!

On the app, press the number value you want to change. It'll open a typing area so you can directly type the value. No more sliders!
This works for sure on the iPhone app, I don't have an Android to test.

Is anyone else noticing that for bluetooth to connect to the G class, location access has to be granted to the SXi mobile app? I tried many times(without success) to get the app to connect to my device. Every time I installed the app, it requested location access and I denied it. However, after much frustration, uninstalling, reinstalling, I let the app have location access then it finally connected.

Who knows, maybe I’m doing something wrong but if the above is true, I’m not a fan of providing that type of access to a mobile app just for controlling my mod.

I did notice that permission but just figured it's mostly for language selection or perhaps to collect weather info for the compensate temp. Not terribly worried about Yihi tracking my vaping movements or dispatching the vape police... However, they should share with us what they are doing with that data (if anything yet) and better yet, allow us to disable features if we choose not to provide it. You could, if paranoid, use a network firewall app to block the app's network access. I would suggest you write their CS with your concerns. I will also include this the next time I write them with feedback after some more tinkering.

I agree it might be handy / useful but should not a requirement to function. Thanks for the acknowledgement that I’m not the only one noticing this and I'll send something to their CS.

Could be just lazy/sloppy programming.
Instead of asking for needed permission, just ask for all.

This is for the Android version, correct?

Android, yes. The only permission it requests is location. Problem is, if denied, the app will not connect to the mod. :cuss2:

Powerful+ hits BIGTIME! Have a subzero atty, two coils @4mm 5 wraps 18gauge A1. Comes in just under .1OHMs. 75W in powerful+ mode feels a lot more. 155W just flat out flies with flavor and density. Great stuff. I wish the LOGO LED could be turned off. Also had my 30mm centurion on it, handles that no problem. Only thing that's going to hangover on this thing is super ridiculous stuff like 40mm+ Alliance, etc.

Yeah, this is for Android. Anybody know about the iOS version what's the story there?

They do appear to be asking for only needed permissions. It's not necessarily unreasonable to ask for location info. Nothing sloppy per se. We just don't know what they are doing with the data. It's still only a beta so hope to see some release notes with more details.

...I wish the LOGO LED could be turned off..

Yeah, me too. It's a hazard driving at night!

I wrote to them with some early feedback last weekend. Main issues I've found
  • It should not be possible to re-read/reset resistance while the unit is locked . The joystick gets too easily triggered in a pocket and should be disabled when the unit is locked.
  • The Logo-LED cannot be dimmed/disabled. It should scale brightness with the display setting (if hw supports) or have it's own timeout setting including off.
  • Clock timeout is too long (30 sec), exacerbated by accidental joystick pressing. Please allow 5 sec timeout (2 better).
  • Much of the display information/menus is extremely difficult to read. Need better contrast in choices of fonts/colors. Fonts are tiny!
  • Android: BT is disconnected by the unit when its display times out. The SXi app should prevent this.
  • Android: The sliders in the interface do not provide enough precision to make accurate settings changes. Add some arrows for fine changes alongside the sliders or a direct entry means.

My next list will include:
  • What are the Android location permissions used for? This raises a privacy concern. Ideally features using location should be disabled if the permission is not granted rather than the app failing to operate.
  • Android: Some setting do not appear to be loading from the unit to the app - still tinkering - may just be my BT timeout - may have to set a really high display timeout for now. TBD...
  • Anything else I find fiddling or anything else I come across here.
I encourage any/everybody to write them as well with issues/annoyances (in full concise sentences). Hey, it can't hurt and the more they hear it the more they will be inclined to change things Thus far, they have been very responsive. We'll see how that holds up...

Despite these things this is far and away the best device I have used and it is totally unrivaled for it's combination of size, style, and capability. I would just suggest that far-sighted truck drivers wait for some updated firmware!

One 'problem' I've had is to take a hit, find no vapor and see the mod is showing the lock screen.

Seems random and it's not been out of my hand when this happens.

I haven't had any issue with the unit locking on its own. How often does it happen? Does it happen when the display timeouts? /every time?

Trying to narrow things down:

Are you on the latest firmware?
Are you using the "ring" wallpaper (I'm not)
Do you leave BT enabled? (I leave mine off - until the app evolves some)
What is your Standby Time set to? (I use 30 sec min)

Anybody else with anything like this?

Yes, latest firmware.
Yes, to the ring wallpaper. (Just changed to a different one)
No, I turn it on or off as needed.
Standby is 45 sec.

I'm wondering if it's a bug in the ring wallpaper. Let us know what happens. Perhaps I'll try my ring wallpaper to see if I can reproduce the issue - guess I'll have to bust out my reading glasses!

Except for the Standard, Powerful and Powerful+ being cut off, I like the other screen better anyway.
The circle one does look cooler, but hard to see all the info.
