It is a shame because both my Merlins were fine for a couple of months

Thats the problem with pressfit...all merlins are going to seep just from regular use its the nature of the beast, the base will eventually separate. Your going to have to tap the merlins base back together to hopefully stop the seeping buts its a double edged sword cause once you've either taken it apart or tapped it back together your disturbing the factory pressfitting and it could temporarily fix the seep or its going to seep worse. My old kanger airflow adapters were pressfit and they came apart after regular use, nothing fixed them from always coming apart no matter how hard I pounded them back together.

Well, my original two from the very first release do not seep or weep. Nor do the other four I've got in rotation as daily drivers. I have seven others that have not ever been built, but I keep meaning to, just to see for myself.

But six 0 liquid outside the tank Merlins running for several months here

For the seeping you guys are mentioning try this. Screw the atty onto something all the way and keep turning it past when the air flow completely closes. Something in mine gets tighter if I do this. Makes the airflow control ring tighter too.

Is finally here!
Today I received my long awaited vape-mail;
could not wait and builded fast a SS 26g nine wraps on 4 mm (0,7 ohm) wicked with cotton as per videos,
vaping in TC mode, WOW ... I'm in love
thanks again @CorallineAlgae and everybody here for the precious suggestions, I could build and wick properly.

Here's the baby next to my monitor, vape and music, I'm so happy !

That why I won't give up on it even though on my 3 I have seeping issues.

This is why I get angry at people in the vaping community. Even though a product is defective, people still stand by it. Would you standard by a sub-standard automobile? No.

I dealt with the Merlin seeping and it got worse over a 2 week span. I gave up. It now sits collecting dust until I decide to chuck in the trash.

The same for the eLeaf iStick. People were having auto-firing issues. I didn't. But what I did have was the iStick having massive ohm-jumping issues. I shit canned it after I contacted eLeaf. They basically told me that unless I could get a replacement from where I bought it that I was out of luck.

Can't stand by your products? No more business from me at all.

A good case of this is my Digiflavor GTA single coil. One of the grub screw holes stripped. I contacted them. They had me take a picture of it, give them the verification number and a new one is on the way.

I've got 5 Merlins on the go and all of them slightly seep a small amount of juice.
I make sure that I take each one of at least once a day and give the mod and the atty a good wipe.

I have in my 3 and a half years of vaping brought a number of different RTA's but for flavour wise the Merlins for me beats them all.
Yes it would have been nice if Augvape could have redesigned the Merlin so it didn't seep.

Some of the RTA's I have brought have been a hell of lot expensive than the Merlin, but none these have not been perfect either.
And so I see it this way, for the small price that the Merlins have cost me and for the pleasure they give me I just can't really complain. :)

I don't necessarily stand by it but I already spent the money on it & I like the vape. For some strange reason when I rewick (rayon) it will be seep free for a number of days, then it'll seep but it's not a lot.

Exactly, give it an occasional wipe, enjoy the vape and move along...

I've spent much more on other RTAs that just sit in a box and don't get used anymore.

Ok, I know, coming from a Ego AIO I was used to vape a 4ml tank in a day,
but ... is it only my Merlin that drinks like a beast or am I doing something wrong ?
A 4ml tank has gone with the wind only this morning ...

That's the way they are in my experience, the AIO I believe is a mouth to lung & they do consume less juice. When I started with a Aspire Natilus it also used a lot less juice.

The 2 mls are good to keep around for trying new juices. But if you want to set a mod/tank next to you on a juice you're already settled with, I prefer something that will last a good part of the day. If you're used to sucking on something like a Boreas a 2 ml tank won't get you through an episode of Vikings.

I've got an idea to fix seepage in Merlin, what about getting a Merlin mini and swap the base ? Will that work ?

@RedheadedBStarD can you please try to swap the base when your mini will arrive and let me know if it fits ? Thanks

Hoping the mini will not seep lol

I took mine apart and put it back together….now the knurled ring that sits just above the afc ring comes loose just like that….this atty may have good flavour but it has given me nothing but problems.

I hear ya, but I'm torn!

Love useful things in miniature and definitely love the Merlin, but don't love 2 mls at all

Hi, I need help with pressing the base back together. This is as far as it will go:

SfxTxJb.jpg

I don't think there should be a gap between these two parts. When I assemble it there is a slight play of the AFC ring and the 510 screw doesn't reach far enough to thread. It just spins freely. It is not stripped because I can screw it in when I remove the insulator, it just doesn't reach it because of the gap.

Could you offer some tips on how to press it back together? Would keeping it in a freezer and lubing the parts with VG help?

I spent hours looking for some tips, and I am sure there were some and I've missed them. So I apologize.

The only thing I've read is to place two sockets one on top &a another on the bottom, then gently tap with a small hammer.

That Merlin is such a fucking POS. I say that as the owner of 4. They were great out of the gate but not much for stamina. So far every damn one of mine seep. I mentioned it on Mike Vapes review of the Merlin Mini. Roxy chimes in on the comments that it's my wicking. When they first started seeping I messaged her on here. No answer. I sent Augvape 3 emails. No answer. Now because I comment on it on a popular vape show I get an answer but all of the sudden after months of wicking all 4 correctly it's my wicking. Give me a fucking break. So dissapointed in Augvape and Roxy. They should do the right thing and replace the bases. It really is shame because it's my favorite tank but because of the seeping it's been rendered useless. What balls Augvape has to release a Merlin Mini after they screwed so many people on the Merlin. I have 4 Boreas, no issues. I have 4 Allerias, no issues. I have 4 Merlin and after a couple of months of use all 4 of them seep. I'd say Augvape has a problem. Definitely not buying the Merlin Mini.

I wholeheartedly agree with you here. I bought my wife 3 of these, they all worked great for a couple months now they all seep. I know damn well its not a matter of wicking it incorrectly as they had zero problems before just recently.

On a side note I hate the pressfit base bullshit. Seems like a lazy design to do this. Ive had nothing but problems with every tank with these type bases, Billow 3, Crius3, now these Merlins. Junk, junk, and junk.

I agree. I own 4 also 1 v1 and 3 v2. They all seep between the AFC ring and the base. Wicking has absolutely nothing to do with this. I also emailed Augvape and also no answer. I also emailed Subtank Supply offering to buy updated bases if necessary and also no reply. As a result I will never buy anything from either Augvape or Subtank Supply. I can't support a designer or manufacturer who instead of fixing a problem chooses to pretend it doesn't exist and blames the customer.

I got my merlin used and have been using it for over a month now with no seeping, not to say it wont start keeping my fingers crossed cause I really like this tank. After following the threads it seems that there is a flaw or manufacturing issue that they cant pinpoint or are willing to admit too. I think these companies put out these devices way to fast without doing enough testing. They use us as the testers we buy it find the flaws, complain then they come out with the V2, V3 etc and hope we keep buying them.

Totally agree, but to not answer 3 emails is just inexcusable. Their silence is basically a big fuck you.

Its perfect on a Boreas! I keep coming back to those, Ive got 5 and am considering more for how cheap them things are these days!
ditto, love the merlin tip on my boreas. my merlin and griffin and serpent minis are all getting washed and stashed due to their finicky wicking, weeping, small capacity, etc.

I've gotta try on my Boreas

You will like it. It is my fave 25mm RTA so far but I have only tried a few of my 25's that I bought this summer. I have 2 boreas (1 in black and 1 in ss) and plan to order a few more in ss for the stash.

What do u think of the Aromamizer Supreme rdta limited edition? It comes with the postless deck & on Steamcrave's FB someone made a single coil mounted slightly slanted & he says it's awesome he has a vid on YouTube of the build. He also noted that he prefers the single to dual coil on it.

I feel you, I'm in the same boat as you. I still use mine because it's a nice RTA but it seeps quite a lot and that is a major put off because each time I refill the tank I have to remove the tank and wipe the Base and then repeat everyday. It's a major screw up on Augvape's part and I do believe they should've handled this better and offered a replacement base to the users instead of releasing a new tank. I feel many companies do this and take advantage of us vapers but I do see how this will affect them in the long run because nowadays we have a lot of options and aren't restricted to one brand only. If you're fan on the merlin, give the serpent mini 25 a try, IMO it's as good. I loved the merlin because of the restive lung hit but now the serpent mini 25 is slowly growing on me due to its ease of use.

I have only tried the v1 aromamizer and am not a fan as the airflow is too restrictive for me. I may end up giving a supreme a try some day but there are so many other atty's I want to try and/or add more of ones I already know I like to my stash so I am not sure if/when I might get one.

Came across this post, got my Merlin this last Friday, I am smoking a 60VG/ 40PG mix with single 30 diameter clapton SS, about 7/8 wraps at 20w with 0.53 res.

I rushed my build together and it leaked awful, I swapped back to my OBS till tonight when I had chance to strip it down and start again, what I noticed was the bottom glass O ring was missing, on checking pictures online I realised they should be one and this must have been missing all along from the factory, thankfully you get some spares and on rebuilding with the missing O ring it is no longer leaking.

I would just suggest to anyone with issues, make sure it has all the O rings in place as I dont think the QC process works at Augvape.

I have two Merlins. One is still perfect, the other one leaks and seeps when I first fill it. How do you take the base apart @placebo81 (or anyone else)?

I posted many posts about my Merlin experiences in the other forum to no avail to be able to solve the seeping problem. Here's a short vid I made on how to break the Merlin base apart.
Thanks for posting the vid! So many have posted on how to take the base apart but nothing beats seeing how it's done. Now that's it's apart have you been successful in finding out how to stop the seeping?

No. I've gone as far as putting 2 orings into the AFC ring and still seeps. My only bullchit solution is to have the Merlin on a mech with a solid pin so there is a space between the hitter and atty but it seeps enough to drip off the Merlin base onto the holder I use and make the mech slimy.
