Well, I have most of 500 feet of the stuff left after about a year and a half and if you're interested in trying it I would be happy to mail some to you in exchange for postage. I am in Canada so it might be a buck or two more than if I were in the States, but I suspect I could fit some into a letter envelope and it would be pretty inexpensive.

PM me if you're interested and I'll figure it out and let you know.

Hahaha, I actually broke down and bought some last night

Thanks for the offer, really is appreciated :)

It takes me longer than most to get things right, but I'm a stubborn S.O.B. and just keep at it. It took me about 10 months to get Rayon down when others only took a few days or a week to get it. I think I was OVER thinking it too much, or I'm just "Special". ;)
I started rayon pretty recently. I'm loving it, not having to rewick as often as cotton. It is a learning curve so I appreciate your post on tips & your experience! Thanks!

I finally got a Merlin :) came a few days ago from STS. I got the black one, I love the blacked out look, with the black glass & all black innards.
I built it with a single coil. I like every thing about it, build quality, easy to build deck & wicking. I read a lot of reviews about the tight draw & was a little worried
But it's not too tight, it's good for direct lung hit :) Good Purchase :)

I'm new to RTA's and I won a Merlin in the contest. I'm finally getting around to using it. And I'm wondering if it's ok to leave the holes inside tank open? Or will it over saturate and begin dripping out of the air vents?

I got my Rayon (500 feet also) over a year ago, and really worked with it Hard for about a solid month, with No luck at getting the right amount in at all, either too much or too little, so I just put it away and went back to KGD. I revisited Rayon about 3 weeks ago and for some strange reason, it just worked. That was my First choice to go into my Merlin and now that I have it broke in it vapes real nice. It took me about a ml to get it to vape like I know Rayon can just because I put a little too much in the coil and had to vape thru that ml of juice to get it all calmed down and running good. The Merlin vapes Great with Rayon and my 3mm 7-8 wrap Twisted 30g Kanthal coil.

I'm liking rayon in mine now too. Seems to move more juice quicker than KGD and it's giving me the saturated vape I like. It's so wet I've had to up the power a bit.

I stuff about as much slightly wet rayon into the coil as I can and not destroy a 27 gauge Kanthal coil. I've found if I use less after a few tanks it gets smaller inside the coil and I lose performance really early. Any clean coil will vape different for a while until it's a bit broken in. What I try to do is set things up so the majority of the time I like what it's doing. Most times I set the watts a bit lower to start with then once things break in increase it to the norm. Once I feel like increasing it again after a while I know the coil is getting gunked and I need to clean it soon.

I put dual twisted 31g K at 0.7 ohms in the Boreas last night and it's working well. Used rayon in that too since I had it out and it also needs a bit more power than I thought it would. Guess I'll have to start taking wick material into account when designing coils.

I know I have the right thread but unsure if I have the right forum.
When it's mentioned that someone says "the rayon initially tasted funny" my usual comment is it was what was on your fingers. Just an opinion though.

Juice, skin and the remains of a ham sandwich were on mine

Yeah, I hear that I do. The younger folks EXPECT Plug and Play though as they have been conditioned that way all their life. I have been into vaping since 8/24/14 and LOVE it to death. I have always looked to modify my vape gear if it doesn't work to my liking, and that goes for my builds also. I think it is fun and interesting, but the younger folks look at it as a Hassle and move on. Too bad, as they are missing out on a lot of fun. Even today, Vaping is more like Plug and Pray, but not as much as it was in 2010 from what I have been able to read, that was like Cave Man Vaping back then, you know, writing on cave walls with a colored dirt clod or making wicks out of fish tank filters.

Fully agree with that. Anytime I've seen someone complain, it's the first thing I mention.

There seems to be more and more of uscoming over here.
The day I joined here was my last post there. I'd say a majority of the members here were there at one time, or still go. I go for an occasional pm.
Has anyone heard if STS got their delivery of bases in this week
I talked to them Thurs and he said they were looking to get them in on Friday
Keep in touch with them about it. I emailed him twice. Not slamming them, I think they got overwhelmed.

That Funny taste that some get from Rayon can be from dirty fingers, YES, since it wicks like Crazy, but, if too much is put into the coil then you get a "Woody or Earthy" flavor for a bit, then just goes away after it breaks in. I learned that right off the bat (after I scratched my butt then did a re-wick ;) JK)

I did notice that things over there seemed to slow down a bit lately (though not sure when that all started). I noticed it because I stay up just about till the sun rises and am online for most of it. I'm a Night Owl of sorts.

Hey Ryedan, now that you said that, I have been noticing that I don't have the moist vape that I used to, in any of my RTA's. Could my coil be too high above the air slot ??

My Merlin is kind of a dry vape also. I used to get a Very moist vape (with the same build) in any RTA I used, but not so much now.

I asked to have my account cancelled and the spiteful idiots over there actually blocked me. We were talking about politics and vaping. Lets just say I wasn't feeling the Bern and I was warned by a mod to stop or I would be banned. I cancelled my account and never looked back. I refuse to be part of any forum that provides safe spaces and does not encourage free speech and the expression of ideas and differing opinions.

Damn. The more I see and hear, the more confused I get about what they are trying to get accomplished over there. I find myself asking "Why" an awful lot of the time.

My opinion is that the board is run by a bunch of little fools eating hot pockets in their parents basement. The kind of people that were brought up with participation medals and 8th place trophies. These people are foreign to me and did not grow up in the America I grew up in.

I went to a few of my Grand-Son's High School Awards Ceremonies and noticed that there were more (a lot more) Participation Awards given out than there were actual First, Second, AND Third place awards given. So Point Taken.

IMO it's because there is not enough juice on the coil for the power used. If it gets a bit worse you'll start to hear a bit of a sizzle after you let off the button. Before I got my first Aromamizer RDTA last year I had been vaping dripers for a couple of years and that never happened unless I let one get too dry. Took me a while to get the AR right, but it became a very dependable vape once I got it and that was with KGD. I tried rayon with dripers first, but they didn't seem to benefit from it and I find cotton a little easier to work with.

I was having occasional problems with the Merlin until I tried rayon yesterday ... problem solved so far. Rayon isn't perfect but it does seem to move juice faster. It could also be that I'm so used to the easy wicking of RDAs and I don't yet have good enough feel for doing tanks.

I really don't think coil position has anything to do with this.

Well the higher the coil the farther the juice has to travel to get to it.
Edit: I might as well add my next post here, I'm just itching to do some modifying on my Merlin.
What I have in mind is elongating the juice holes like on the newer model and cutting or drilling through the cups which holds the wick tails against the holes. I'll leave enough there that the tails will want to stay put.
The problem is though I have zero complaints with it's performance.
So I don't have any way of judging my work (that part isn't exactly true)......DUH

Rayon is usually less densely packed than cotton, so I feel like the juice can move more freely on rtas. There are some rtas where cotton is the best choice, but for most, for me, rayon is the way to go. Obviously for an rda this matters far less since juice movement isn't as big of a factor

For several years now my opinion of the general public has not been very favorable...I have a hard time dealing with ignorant people. If I was a bit younger and had more resources I'd have already taken off for exotic lands...(love asian women anyway) in SE Asia......

The sea change in the general populations common sense and critical thinking skills have fallen from 75% to nearly zero from my younger days. Nowaday's it appears to me that we are living in a mental ward and the inmates are in charge........................

Yeah. Society is sooooo removed from current issues that it's appalling to me. Here in central Minnesota, all people care about (and talk about) is fishing and hunting. These same people are then aghast when things come down the pike (rights taken away or strict regulations). Then they wonder how this stuff came to be. :headbang:

Its not really ignorance the people in the great U.S.A are looking for a utopia that doesn't exist
They look for a place that no one can fail and all food and necessities are suppled
Where they dont have worries about anything but what they personally want or need
Kids in school now dont fail they get consolation grades so why should they work hard or care if they get something right
Thats the premise of no child left behind keep other kids back so the one not willing to work hard can pass

Keep in mind 2+2 does not equal 5 now

This wont last long as time is counted socialism or communism do not last because it is based on govt that supply all needs and the weight of society in itself will cause a crash
Read up on the Roman,Greek and other democratic socialist societies they all came to an abrupt end

I've got my Merlin totally dialed in. 4.75mm ID on this N80 braid twisted with 24g ss316l. Running it in temp control at 200 Celsius (welcome to Canada ;-) ) and 40 watts on a RX200. Air flow half open is the densest and most flavorful vape if my life.

I got a e-mail notice in my inbox at 7:50 P.M. stating that the new bases were in and once a comparison was done to see if the new bases were better (tighter air flow) than the older bases then they would notify me.

Edit: on my base with the airflow completely closed off, I get what feels like a 3-3.5mm air draw. I've done a sort of fix with sliding a vape band down over the air slot to tighten it up some.
