Since @SirRichardRear is buying us all watches I want an Omega Constellation with lapis blue dial. My Dad had that watch and I always wanted it but grudgingly helped him sell it, want to kick myself for not buying it myself. I did wind up buying his Piaget though, very nice watch with a custom band that I wear maybe once a year. Like paratech I don't wear watches often but own 3 or 4.

I'm not a big watch person myself. I just have 1 kinda nice one and a couple decent ones. I wear watches everyday though. Habits lol. My wife isn't really either. She's more on a Pandora kick which doesn't seem expensive but it adds up quick.

You see, our vape hobby is way cheaper than other hobbies!
True that. Let's not even get into the thousands she spent on candle making. I do spend a bit on golf and gaming too though.

Unfortunately I have never been able to find a cheap hobby.
Maybe I should start collecting used toothpicks.
Hobbies aren't mean to be cheap.

Yikes. Between her taste and ej's wife's taste, y'all could buy vacation homes in Hawaii or Fiji.
actually thought about buying one at parker. they are super cheap and only a 6 hour drive away. Me and my friends have been talking about going in on it. it would only be like 200 a month each for a big house on the river. River season is fun

I'm an IT manager/Financial Analysts. weird combo l know lol. Kinda a jack of all trades. My wife is a supervisor at a medical supply company. We both do ok for California but if living was less expensive here we'd be pretty well off lol. My friend lives in Michigan and just brought a huge house for 100k as a waiter, a similar house here would be well over a million. mine is decent sized and is worth about 550k. fucking California man lol

thanks for the linky
yeah I know homes are much bigger and cheaper outside of beautiful Commiefornia! I have lived in a few Midwest states and know what's up.
I'm from Cali, it gets hard moving to other states especially those without the ocean! I've been considering southern Texas but it's a pipe dream

A friend of mine, here, sent me a link to a house for sale on her street, we joked about becoming neighbors. It would have fit in my house, was more than twice the price of mine.

I knew Cali was more expensive than KY, but I had no idea it was that much more. I'm nowhere near well off, my home is not huge, by anyone's definition and my job is not a high paying one. I'd be homeless there, LOL. Tanned, though.

I do some work in real estate and rentals and the rent out here in S. Cal is crazy. I SMH when I put up an ad for a rental thinking, dayum, that's some high rent and still I get a lot if interest and they rent quick. This isn't in the real high rent areas like San Diego or LA either, they probably average 2500 to 3k a month rent, my average is about 2100 a month.

Lived all my life in CA but dayum it is tempting to move, frikin weather and family being all good and keeping me here.

they just build some apartments near me and they are renting them for 2300 a month. my neighbor rents the house from the owner and she pays 2600 a month for a 3 bedroom thats smaller then mine. it's crazy

to put it in terms 2300 a month is 27,600 a year. If you make 50k a year (which is a pretty decent salary) less 30% for taxes, insurance, 401k SS etc. that means you bring home around 35k a year. minus rent that leaves you about 7400 a year divided by 12 months you have a left over of about 620 bucks a month after rent only. that doesn't include car payment, car insurance, gas, food, electric, internet, tv etc. it's not even livable. even the shittiest apartments in bad areas here cost over 1k a month for rent.

yeah man I have found the worst of the worst apartments for rent and a studio will cost about $1200 its really sick. I don't understand why it's so expensive. there is something really deeply wrong with California. a lot of people here are strange too. I really miss living in Moose Lake, Minnesota.

Seattle used to be affordable, but the last 6 or so years shit has gotten insane. In my neighborhood a new building went up with Studio Apt's, under 400 square feet, somewhere around 360 sq ft., rent there starts at over $1700. 1 Bedroom's in the City are averaging $2500 on up, insane.

I'm planning on retiring early, tentative goal is fall of 2018 and I'm heading down to S. America below the Equator.

Yep, it's nuts.

Just finished paying my property taxes, always makes me want to move right after doing that...sigh. I am happy that my house is paid off but have to pay rent to the county every year or they will take it away. Works out to around 500 a month and that is only because I bought when the market was down, if I bought today it would be a lot more for the rest of my life. I guess I own the building but will always pay rent on the land, that just sucks.

I live way out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing and trees.
Prices are fair for the area but not enough available IF you want to live near work.
Since the base is 20 - 25 miles from the rest of the planet, if you don't want to deive through BFE to get to work, you best pay attention to anything that becomes available immediately.

On a positive note, got my replacement 7ml black supreme in today.

Also but the 20ml tank for the Modfather.
Along with a handful of other items.
I'm STILL opening packages from the sales and have no idea where to put it all.
Might need a room addition or start hanging shit from the ceiling.

Jeez, as frustrated as I get where I am, I think I'll just stay here. Cost of living is low in comparison to what I'm reading in here. Some online article had us listed as 13th most affordable city, based on some poll, doing some research, on some website probably posted off someone's FB feed.

Anyway, I kinda like it here. Grass is always greener and such. @mjag, I totally feel everything you're saying, and I call some bullshit on that stuff. We'll owe someone something til the day we die, then our relatives will get the bill. Mine won't likely pay it, though.

By the way, it is 21° here.
For those of you that like it cold.......trade me places.
I dislike hot, I dislike cold.
I should be on a tropical island that DOESN'T have hurricanes or volcanos.
But not one of the HOT ones, just 65° on the coldest day and 85° in the sun on the hottest day.
I'll still bitch about both of those days but not as much.
haha

So close, so close! I'll take 59 and cloudy on most days. 85 in the sun is just way too much. 67 in the sun would do just fine. it's 24 out right now, wasn't much warmer while I was out running errands. BUT weather like this is where it's at, because I love my flannel jams, my flannel sheets and big old comfy sweatshirts. The worst part about it all, is sleeping in flannel pants, then trying to turn to your side while laying in a bed with flannel sheets. Kinda like velcro, you're just kinda stuck, mid turn. Weird, huh?

hahahaha, I'd never sleep.
Can't wear all that clothing stuff while sleeping let alone have to fight with the blankets.
Oh I'd much rather just have it about 73 year round but figured we'd have to have a least a few cool and warm days.
If those were the temps I'd be inside with AC on the hot days but those cooler temps would still allow for yardwork without dying.

I've been meaning to ask you, Spirit, Aero, or VTX, if VTX 13 or 18?

Use to have a CBR, sold it when I got married. But wouldn't mind and actually have been eyeing a VTX 18, I love them and the wife said I can get another bike as long as it's not a rocket. You?

The thing is I don't mind paying reasonable taxes on an asset or profit. My Dad always says if I have to pay a lot in taxes it is usually because I made a lot of money so it washes out in the end.

What does bother me is paying taxes on a liability and that is exactly what the home you live in is. Unless you living in a multi family property or something that provides you with income then you home is a liability and costs you every year. People like to say that your home is your greatest asset but that is not true while your living in it. Assets provide a return on investment but that is not the case when your living it in, it actually costs you money becoming a liability. Sure there is appreciation when the value of your property goes up but you don't see those gains until you sell.

Owning income property is one of the great wealth producers. Most of the truly well off people I know got that way through income property. I have no problem paying taxes on income property. The real problem is that we never own the land our owm home sits on in most of the country. That land belongs to our local governments that we basically just lease. I guess that's why they call it home ownership and not land ownership, the later is just a lie.
