As per the title - auto squonker just wondered if anyone has been following it, or is planning to get one?

I’m curious. I have that little ess guy, and like the auto feature. But not sure if it really justifies the price tag of the x class.
For 250$, I can think of a few other kids I would want first.

I guess I can see the appeal for some folks, but. for me personally, "auto" squonking is kind of a solution in search of a problem. I'm fine squonking myself.

There's 2 other things that give me pause.

The mechanism is another major potential point of failure.

Also, a mechanical operation like pumping fairly thick e-liquid is a not altogether trivial power requirement Think about how you have to squeeze that bottle. YIHI has probably figured that into the processor and software to ensure accurate output to the coils, but how can that not significantly effect battery life?

For $250, let me see. If I let you have 4 kids, that's $62.50 per each kid. All my granddads tell me I can sell a kid for no less than $50, ergo I can get you 4 kids for $250. I hope you got good pastures for them. :)

I know it's a baaaahhhd joke. Butt, at least I'm not kidding.:)

Now to divide $62.50 five ways, hm, $12.50 for each of us. Each of my granddads like $12.50 today, I do too, might go buy 3 small bottles of flavoring at $2.50 + shipping each from Bull City. No, wait I could only get 2, damn shipping costs are always the pain in the inappropriate place.

Regarding the original topic of discussion, I concur with @gsmit1 's assessment of it. It seems like another point of failure to risk having automated squonking. Then, guess as a resident Luddite that's expected of me.

Don't get me wrong, it looks nice, but I have stabwood mods I've paid less for. $250 for this is a bit much, I feel. I'd pay $150 ish, maybe...

There is a mod called the Revo which has the auto Squonk feature which should be a more affordable version of the X-class. I think it’s a dual cell mod like the X but it’s made by Pioneer4you. There is also an SX little auto squonker called the SX Auto which is a more expensive version of the IPV V3 mini that is gonna have rebuildable ada on it. I can’t find any info on either one of these devices though. It says they are supposed to come out in August so anytime now.
I have the IPV v3 mini and I love it. It has the advantage of always having the optimal amount of juice on the coil and no contamination of your juice from a dirty coil like can happen with the suck back of a normal squonker. They did a good job of getting this auto squonker worked out because it just works man. No messing around, once you get it setup right it just works perfectly. It’s so tiny and light and doesn’t leak so I love it’s portability. Battery life is really good on this thing also, I have it turned up all the way and it goes about a day and a half between charges. It hits hard also which some of these smaller pod systems can’t do. This gives lots of flavor and vapor, it’s just a really good device and worth every penny. Now the X-class isn’t something I’d get though I don’t think. It’s just hard to lay down that kinda scratch when the vape cannot be improved that much better than these cheaper devices. I do want to try the SX Auto though because a little vape monster like this IPV but with rebuildable atty is just what the doctor ordered. As long as the price isn’t crazy which I’m sure it won’t be.

Saw one listed for $200 which put it in the same ballpark as the G-Class which as we all know was popular at the time.

Agree with gsmit does seem to fulfil a need that doesn’t need filling albeit the pumper mod I used, I did really love the accuracy each time, not worrying about backwash contamination and not worrying about heavy handiness which Rooster mentiones as a big pro in my book so there is that...not sure on battery but yeah must have an impact for sure

I don’t know if you could manually override the squonk action if it fails? Is this a feature I don’t know much about it at the moment, if not could be an expensive failure

Was really hoping someone on the forum was gonna have some hands on experience rather trust your judgments :)

You’re right @gsmit1, I hadn’t thought of it in that light.
I’ve never complained about squeezing the bottle, so why would I need a pump, that could eventually lead to the mod being a dual batt box, the size of a triple batt box?

It’s still cool, and really slick looking. Additionally though, I’m not a huge fan of the touchscreen mods. I’m an old dog and prefer pressing buttons.

I may get that revo when it drops from ipv just to explore the full size ess feature and put the money towards something else.

Well, I was in the squonker game for a good while and had all the good ones. I agree with the statement that it's a solution looking for a problem. Not to mention; has anyone else noticed that Yihi SX Mini is always a day late and a dollar short? One of the top board manufacturers in the world, but with hardware releases, they are always behind the power curve. A couple years ago, squonkers went BOOM! Everyone had a squonk rig. Where was SX Mini? Now, the fad is over, and people have found the squonkers they want, or gave up on squonking for something else. In rolls SX Mini to the squonk party as the music has died down, the lights are on, and last call has sounded...great timing guys! Same with pods, though not as bad of timing. A year ago; BOOM! PODS!!!!! SX Mini? *crickets chirping* Finally they come to the table with a pod that's meh, at best. Get it together SX Mini. I get it...quality over quantity and timing. But the T Class with a fidget spinner 6 months after fidget spinners were in landfills all over the world? Fire your market analysts...

They were afraid squeezing the bottle would activate the “self destruct” feature too early

They can't even make a regular mod worth a damn. Why tempt fate with a squonker?

Uh yeah, back to the topic at hand...

I'm going to wait this out for a while. Auto squonking is a neat feature but completely unnecessary. Still I am intrigued.

But yes, back on topic. The feature itself is intriguing, but necessary? I don't honestly know...I'd like to put my grubby little mitts on one and test drive it before I dropped that much coin on what may be a really expensive novelty.

I'm still only a year and a half into all this, but I have read ALOT of old threads at various places and watched alot of old videos.

Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong about this, but it seems in days of yore, the performance difference between subohm tanks and rba/rtas was huge, and the difference between rba/rtas and rdas was another big jump up from there.

It appears that those gaps have narrowed greatly in the last couple years. There's still that upward progression, but the differences aren't nearly what they once were Especially between really good rtas and rdas.

In the days when rdas were THAT much better than rtas, had squonking been as big then, this might have made a lot more sense. Now, if somebody wants stellar performance without dripping or fiddling with squonking, a good rta will nudge them almost into rda territory.

What's the point of auto-squonking? To get consistent constant hands free juiceflow along with great performance. Unlike in the past, we already have that with good rtas. Which, this makes me wonder why rdtas kinda largely fizzled out.

I think the rdta fizzled out for several reasons. I know I’ve tried several;and, had issues with all of them, from filling, leaking and awkward airflow. But mostly I thought they looked dumb. (Purely my opinion). additionally I don’t use rtas much because I’m rough on gear and always break the glass in a few days.

squonking has Always been there. It just wasn’t mainstream until this past year or so. Before that it had a really high entry level price tag and was mostly the mtl crowd.

The “what is better” question is as subjective as my opinion on the aesthetics of rdta’s. out of every rta I’ve owned I still use 2- the peacemaker from squid and the og kayfun. So what is really better? I have a ton of rdas that get used from the og tugboat to the axial, citadel and reload s.
but that 7 year old kayfun still gets used daily.

I think much of vaping is based in current fads that are pushed by vendors as much as users. I see auto squonking as both a fad and a sad replacement for true technological advancement. We’ve hit a serious lul in the tech. You can’t push 18650s to provide any more power safely. So we’re left with glitzy screens, touch screen interface and now a bilge pump to transport juice.

As a hobbyist who has dabbled in virtually every facet of the vaping game (Ego pens, pods, mechs, tube mechs, hybrids, RDAs, RTAs, Subohm tanks, RDTAs, coil building, DIY juice, DTL, MTL, and every wattage setting from 3 watts to over 500 watts), all I can say is that recent times to me, as a flavor chaser primarily, but also a vaper that doesn't want to have my hands always full of mod, juice, etc, RTAs have in many ways continued a slow, steady climb to the top of the flavor vaping ladder. Sure, you can still find the occasional "holy crap" RDA, but there is only so much engineering innovation that can be applied to a build deck with a barrel, top cap and drip tip. Fancy coil retention systems and pleasing aesthetics do very little in the way of a quality vape experience. With an RTA, the sky is the limit for engineering design and innovation. I have RTAs currently that will gobble up most RDAs even on the high end of the spectrum. I don't have to tote a juice bottle. I don't get RDA slobber all over me. I don't oversquonk. So on and so forth. I have learned though, throughout my years of building and juice making, that the secret for me is a few things.

    1. the right coils for the RTA in use. Just because you can build an 11 core Framed Staple Alien coil doesn't mean it will shine in every RTA.
    2. have a true, passionate relationship with the juice you're vaping. If you don't feel that euphoria with every draw, all hardware seems substandard and meh.
    3. coil placement within the build space. Biggie! Play with the builds. Longer leads. Shorter leads. Close to the airflow ports. Further away. High. Low. Every RTA is different and coil placement has a profound effect on the vaping experience. Place them where YOU get the best vape; NOT where YouTube tells you they must go. I have multiple identical RTAs with identical builds, but different coil placement. It's like having 2 completely different pieces of hardware.
    4. wicking. Say it with me: wicking. This is not an afterthought just because it's near the end of setup. Wicking is the single most important step of the building process in an RTA, and the most underrated, unappreciated, unloved, and the most ignored and taken for granted. Spend the time. Experiment. Find how you want it to wick. A little wet. A little dry and airy. Whatever you like, and do that. Every. Single. Time. Wicking an RTA has nothing to do with what YouTube tells you it's about. It's about patience, care, time, trial and error, and sustainable perfection once you figure it out for your vaping style.

Over years I have read/watched folks whine that this or that RTA leaks or dry hits, or floods, or mutes flavors, or doesn't produce the desired vape. Every time I investigate deeper, one of these points above have been neglected, usually. I always hear this type of stuff and say to myself "I have 3 of those and mine are fine! What's their problem?" There are exceptions. Isn't there Vaperz Cloud? *cough OG VCMT cough* But hey, nobody's perfect.

I apologize to the OP for the long post that might be construed as off topic.

    BUMP.

Here lies a bunch of truth. I kind of expressed similar in saying a person could easily use a thimble on top of a sardine can. The thimble being your rda and can the mod.

I don't think there's any real way to forwardly innovate vaping. All that is left is fads, trends. Once a vaper finds a kit they find suitably fits what they need, sardine can and thimble it becomes.

Knew I liked squonking the first time I tried my now discarded mod from the Terminator kit sold on FastTech. Still have the old Mr. Owl RDA that gets used once in a blue moon, and it still does quite well. I needed a more durable mod than some cheap toy grade plastic, and it needed to not have wires.

Liked the idea of Reos, didn't like the price of them though. FastTech again helped, $25 Reo Grand clones. Still have one here that gets used like the Mr. Owl, like it, it still does fine. Then there was this dull roaring whisper, "got to try the Coppervapes."

I think a Coppervape & a Gorge have become my go to kit. Gee, looks a lot like a thimble & sardine can. As a bit of "fashion" I've added a wonderful glow-in-the-dark resin drip tip. How can that be "improved" further? For myself, I'm finding that a tough question to answer. Every time I think on maybe getting a regulated squonker my wife reminds me, "toasters don't need clocks or MP3 players."

so I did watch SMMs vid yesterday on features and you can adjust volume juice pumped in (or sucked back out) ...he noticed battery performance with it and pump is fairly noisy

still wanna see what hands on experience is like in the field rather than out the box reviews

Have any of you dug out any of your older atties and realised the same? In terms of not as good as you remember it being compared to what we have now ...all those small tweaks and mini steps have paid dividends it seems

although some are still every bit as good as they always were hadaly springs to mind

Don't forget the mod wismec put out that plays your music too! :giggle:

While I am in the market for a new squonk mod I don't think I'm ready to cough up almost $250 for the X class. Can think of a few other mods I'd like to get first. Hell, I'd like to make my own.

Will do! Get paid next Tuesday so I'll be ordering the mod kit as well as an air brush kit. Then let the madness begin, lol!

Should I post the thread in the DIY forums?

I can say, the ipv mini 3 with the same ess system for pumping up the jam, isn’t loud Persè, but noticeable at first. The vibration is also noticeable but it’s like an old pager on vibrate. It’s not even as loud or as harsh a vibration as a cell phone.
You also stop noticing it after a few hours of use.

I still say the tugboat v2, goon 22 and OG goon are as good or better than newer attys. Also the aqua v2 and og kayfun are both timeless in my opinion as flavor rtas

Love my goon 22! Had to stop using it because the little twat leaks through the 510. Plus, I'd rather squonk than drip.

If I were to run out and buy a new squonk box today, I wouldn’t buy this.
If I were to drop 250$, I would look at the boxer 21700 or Rebel mods.
Otherwise I’ve heard a Tom of good things about the topsides and the new Wotofo dyadic looks interesting.

Mine runs well as a squonk atty.

Agreed. I have three topsides myself. Although one is fucked. Fires at about 25% of the wattage setting. Tried numerous attys and the damn thing fires so weak. Gonna turn it into a project and take it apart to mess with it.

Funny you mention rebel mods. I have a single 21700 Yihi 486J in ally black coming...I think tomorrow. It just cleared Chicago customs yesterday so should get out to the local post office sometime today and out for delivery tomorrow! Really excited about this mod!!! If I like it it I'm going to get the squonk version as well.

    Forgot to add...

Where can I get a squonk pin for the goon 22? Would love to put it on top of my carbon topside!

I haven't watched this video, but I saw this on my YouTube feed shortly after I saw this thread and had to chuckle.

    Extra jealous of your Rebel!

Looking forward to hearing your opinion of them.

I go the other way having had to make do with what's on hand enough to not be bothered by styles, trends, "new", "new & improved". Seem to find contentment more easily than most. Reminds me I need to locate a peek insulator for my NaRDA clone. Sorry if I'm too introspective on an extroverted aspect of vaping.

Thanks dude! Rebel has been on my wish list for a while so it's nice to finally scratch the itch. I'll post a few pics in the vape mail thread when it gets here.

Thanks for the link! Don't know why I didn't think of going to their website. Duh!

Fashion goes round in circles anyhow so just think eventually you’ll be right back in the middle of it :D

And if not hell hall of retro cause it’s now cool

No worries bro, we’ve all been there.

    Nothing wrong with that!
It’s all about what makes YOU happy.
More people need to stay centered in vaping and not let the vendors tell us what to use.

Wow. a lot to respond to in this thread lol.

For now, I have to say that that video is Jai Haze at his worst. He didn't give that thing a fair shake at all.

First off, how ya gonna review a 250 dollar mod that you are opening for the very first time on camera? I have numerous items that took me a little while to learn and appreciate. There's no way you can form a useful opinion over the course of making a short video.

Also, the YIHI Android app works. It's a pain to get running, but it does work. I got it working on my G-Class and despite what he says, yes you can do firmware upgrades with it. This and other things he says while in the menus just shows a general unfamiliarity with YIHI devices overall, regardless of how many he may have handled.

It's childish to just smash a piece like that, especially after less than an hour with it. Why not give it to somebody else to check out?

    Terrible video.
