Is bejammin the one in question here or who was the theif?
Nah, it wasn't about me and neither did I think he was talking about me... I was just letting him know that not everyone is as shady as this guy is, that I was interested in his item for sale, and that if he still didn't believe me I had a bunch of people who could vouch for my many many positive trades/sales/buys...

I would vouch for Benjammin 100% also, he's a stand up guy.

When I saw your first post in this thread it sounded like it was you and I thought wtf?! ;)

Haha it's good to know that if I ever need anyone to vouch for me, I've got them jumping out of all corners to do so without me even asking! LOL thanks tho!

Well after several great transactions with people here, I think it's happened again. Sent a guy a bunch of juice and now no response. I bet it's the same dude

Just still in shock, again. Last message received Oct. 27 and was on Sat. I'm giving it until I see they've been online again. But the guy gave me his address, and had a conversation where he told be about the two jobs he has and where and what they were. So I could just start sending spam mail there to his name and start calling everyday

Even if though it looks like you got taken, I would STRONGLY suggest that you don't try to contact him at his place of work.

If memory serves, this could end up with you on the wrong end of a harassment lawsuit!

This reminds me of something that happened to me about 5 years ago.

I was selling an old POS Escort wagon for like $600 on Craigslist. I had probably 50 phone responses within the first 1/2 hour.

The first guy that responded was also the first to show up and did end up buying it; BUT with the nonstop calls and people wanting to come look at it I told people to come over, AND that there already were people on their way and that there was a possibility of the car being sold or gone by the time they got to me. Of the 6 or so people that said they'd be there asap, not including the buyer, only one showed up, as is par for the course on Craigslist. However, the one guy was NUTS!

I thought things were going to get physical over a $600 rust-bucket POS car. I explained, and re-explained, to the disgruntled dick how I said there were people already on the way to look at the car, and that it had been sold as he had seen the money and title and the car leaving. I walked away after I figured out that he just wasn't going to get it and watched him leave from my apartment window. He continued calling me and harassing me, then sent me a bunch of harassing emails. I told him to stop several times and ended the matter by saying that if I received another call, text, or email I would be getting LE involved and the calls and emails stopped.

Fast-forward about two days and I'm suddenly getting a TON of phone calls asking about the car I had for sale. Like all hours of the day. After about the hundredth person I'd explained to that the car was sold and the ad had been taken down days ago, I asked one of them what the ID was. I found my listing re-listed, albeit in a really shitty way, so I flagged the ad and it went away.

Then it kept happening over, and over, and over. Finally I got clever and emailed the listing email (from a different email address than I used to list the car) expressing interest in the car. I got a response, with a line of bullshit and my phone number given. Then I did the detective work and the disgruntled emails from the day I sold the car matched the address of the responding email from the bogus ad. It was the same guy.

The next step was one of my most satisfying revenges ever.

I found lots of pictures of an early 2000's Nissan Maxima in Google images (from a guy showing off his car) that was souped, had big rims, leather seats, custom paint, had been meticulously maintained and had a new transmission(I threw that in for fun); I listed the car at $1200 using a different email and and replied to people with a generic message from my clipboard that had the guy's number in it.

The email response I got was overwhelming and I can only assume that the guy's phone was blowing up. I kept getting emails from the guy begging me to take the ad down, and for some reason it wasn't getting flagged.

After a while the guy learned his lesson and stopped listing his bootleg ad of my ad and I took the Maxima down.

The moral of the story is: don't try to technologically outthink a millennial if you're a baby-boomer. I'll be at least two steps ahead of you. It's good for a laugh anyway

I was more joking, but to let someone have that much of your info and then try to screw them is a little crazy to me. That was more the point I was making.

Just trying to keep you out of a possible HUGE issue.

Seems nowadays deadbeats along with other special interest groups are a protected species.

Exactly. I just like to help those people out with their issues, in a nonviolent way of course. Maybe remind them why they shouldn't do stupid shit like make trades and then not send you anything.

I've had relatively good luck with trading and I only use PayPal for selling.

I definitely get tired of people who come here and post #1 is a sob-story pif request.
