What MOSFET to use in a custom box ?

I have decided to build my own box. I have ordered most of the parts and have some at home already, tho, i dont know what to use for a mosfet. Would it be safe to use a SMD mosfet in my box ? Except for a IRFZ44N thats still coming to my place, thats the only option i got. The SMD mosfet is a IRFR3709Z, and claims to withstand 86A while at 20c, that all seems to be okay, but wont the leads melt off of it ?

Another SMD option for me is the IRLR3715Z, there arent any huge differences as i know, only that the IRLR3715Zs max current is basically half of the IRFR3709Zs
