I've met a few people quite a few vaping enthusiasts that are recovering from drug addiction and alcoholism. I highly reccomend it. The comradeship would be great.

Perhaps a sub-forum would take off. Ease to see.

Good for you for correcting your issues but are there not other forums for your recovery?
I fail to see how your recovery process is vape related.

I am also a recovering alcoholic. My vaping is recovery-related because it is a habit. Sometimes, one new habit replaces another. That's as simple as I can put it. I don't over analyze it, because anything that keeps me away from the whiskey bottle is okay with me.

And it bears mentioning that nicotine is an addictive drug, by far the most addictive I've ever dealt with. It was far easier for me to quit cocaine than smoking.

Also, participating in a forum can be addictive. As my ex-psychotherapist once told me, "You know, there IS such a thing as a HEALTHY addiction!"

I voted no because I come here for vape related stuff, yea sometimes it steers left and it's not vape related but if I'm looking to buy a car I don't go to the grocery store. I have 3 years clean so I'm not hating, I get it, it's something that is very important and one should do all they can to stay on the straight and narrow. I see a few links above that shows the subject is spoken of here.

I was in rehab last may for three months for drink and drug addiction been clean for nearly a year now and been vaping about 9 months I put all the energy and money I used to spend on drink an drugs into buying new mods batts and accessories. I used to make homebrew so now iv got into diy juice makin I do anything just to keep my mind off the bad stuff.but to be fair I think this is my new addiction no where near as bad as my last one.this won't kill me hopefully.

You can't just take away behaviors without replacing them. I feel that vapeing is a good replacement for many. There is a ritual and setup, etc.

Its not the nicotine, it is the MAO Inhibitors in cigs that drastically amplify the effects of the nicotine and alter your brain chemistry to open your body to developing an addiction by disabling the body's ability to eliminate the nicotine. Otherwise your body would naturally clean up and eliminate the nicotine. Studies have shown that nicotine *by itself* is only very mildly addictive, possibly even less addictive then caffeine.

That being said though, a section for recovery?
Wouldn't that be the whole forum? Pretty sure a vast majority of us are recovering from being addicted to those toxic cigs.

can't tell if your being sarcastic or not.

Monoamine oxidizers (MAOs) are an enzym that is critical to neurotransmission in the cells of your body. They break down proteins and other enzymes that are either ingested with food or released by other parts of your body (ie, dopamine). Basically keeping the chemicals in your body in the proper balance. Monomine oxidizers are a critical chemical and it being out of balance results in all kinds of bad things. Levels being too high or too low have been linked to schizophrenia, depression, ADD, anxiety, migraines, and substance abuse

Nicotine is a stimulant, like caffeine. Ingesting it causes the release of Dopamine which causes you to feel good, then it gets quickly cleaned up by the Monomine oxidizers and life goes on. But, when smoking a cigarette, your also inhaling chemicals that inhibit your bodies production of Monomine oxidizers. This results in the Dopamine not being cleaned up and thus forcing your body's chemistry to remain altered. As you continue to use cigarettes, your bodies chemistry repeatedly gets forced into this altered state and after a few months to a year, your body believes that it's chemistry is supposed to be like that. You have developed an addiction. The headache you get from 'withdraw' when not smoking is a result of the Monomine oxidizer levels growing due to lack of a cigarette to reduce them. Your body's chemistry is not what it's become accustomed to, it is giving you a headache to tell you something is missing.

Not being sarcastic. I know a little about brain chemistry, enough to know that this is a big deal. I wish I'd known it those 7 agonizing times I was trying to quit smoking.

I dont see what the harm would be, if people dont want to talk about 'other than nicotine' addiction, they wouldnt be forced to use the subforum.
Id vote YES, since it could certainly help people in need , without infringing on anyone else.

Hey isn't the forum all about vaping and a little friendship? It could be helpful to some people as well as help some people in recovery connect. Heck it might even bring some new members to the forum. I'm not new to vaping but new around here so it's just my opinion. Trying to branch out to a few different forums besides ECF. Don't want to PO anyone. Have A Great Day !

I think this is the main reason Big Pharma was pushing Tobacco Control and paying for junk science grants about SHS back in the mid to late 90's.

You try to quit using methods that THEY sell.
You finally quit you end up on the anti depressants that THEY sell
You don't quit you end up on cancer treatments that THEY sell.

Vaping totally fucks all of these up for them.

In my opinion ciggarettes, nicotine and whatever else is in them is the most addictive and powerful drug in the world ! You can quit for 30 years and one day the brain says have a ciggarette and next thing you know your smoking again. I had a friend that was in prison for a number of years. No smoking in prison now although you can get tobacco. He has a black belt in martial arts and was an instructor. So while he was in prison he worked out did running etc. He got out and after a week he was smoking a pack a day ! I've seen people quit drugs easier and just can't seem to quit smoking. So how powerful and addictive is that ? So forget all the medical info studies what have you just look at how hard it was to quit (if you smoked) and how hard it is to stay quit. Come on......even if you've quit for a lenght of time you still get urges here and there. I'm not bashing anyones posts either this is just my opinion and experience.

That's why you just vape forever.
The problem is the tobacco companies found a way to make the nicotine super addictive.
With hard drugs. Think your first time. The difference between snorting and shooting it.
When the cocktail of a cigarette burns a powerful MOI is created that makes the nicotine super addictive.
That's the reason I will never trust a Big Tobacco's ecig liquid.
What do you think those "tobacco specialists" in the Vuse commercial are doing in the lab?
Certainly not stirring VG, PG, flavoring in with 3% or less nicotine together.
If thats all they were doing they could make their concoction taste a lot better than it does now.
They are working on something to get more than just smokers hooked.
Smokers die. Where are they going to get money from in 60 years?
    Not any of us!

Check out the truth about nicotine:
