Tax hikers focused on 2016 election

from the article, "In the initiatives submitted to the state, 'Save Lives California' even admits that one of their goals is to 'protect existing tobacco-tax-funded programs.'" In other words, they'd rather you continue smoking and get cancer than to quit. Because if you quit, they will have to look elsewhere for their monies.
A quick google turns up this doc http://www.savelivescalifornia.com/about.pdf which, if you read, shows that the group is made up of American Heart Association, American Lung Association in California, and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. And, if you read closely the monies from the tax are for Medi-Cal (not just tobacco-related expenses, but Medi-Cal in general [Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid welfare program]), research grants (not just cancer research), and administrative fees. As usual, it's all about the Benjamins.
