The freshman class of Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy will be returning for a sophomore year now that Syfy has renewed The Magicians for a 13-episode second season.
“Thanks to an extraordinarily gifted creative team of executive producers and our partners at Universal Cable Productions, The Magicians has become a buzzed-about hit, enchanting fans of the novels as well as attracting new and younger audiences to Syfy,” said Dave Howe, the network's president.
The renewal comes just three episodes into the show's first season, which the networks says have averaged 1.7 millions viewers with a good chunk of that in the coveted 18-34 demographic.
Adapted from Lev Grossman's bestselling series, the show follows a young man named Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) who's accepted into a magical school -- one that proves to be a lot more The Rules of Attraction than Harry Potter.
