Stainless steel for TC, contact or spaced

So for all of you who are using stainless steel for temperature control, are you using spaced coils like with Ti and Ni200, or are you making contact coils?

I've had no luck with spaced Stainless steel contact coils for temperature control, but the contact seems to work well.

I've never used spaced with 316L, just contact and it seems to be working fine both in power and TC modes on my VT200.

I use contact 316L for both power and temp control, works extremely well

Contact coils for 316L and 317. Works fine.
