So I want to get into dripping and coil building but I'm really on a rather tight budget. Can you guys recommend a decent but affordable RDA for me?

you can get a cheapish clone on the bay, or amazon. I think I got my littleboy for about 12 bucks and my Dark Horse was around 10.

For a noob, depending on the mod. In other words, assuming you don't have a hybrid, the two I would suggest would be either the mutationx v4 or steamboat from 101vape.
The latter would be my preference, you can get a tugboat anarchist cap or slam cap down the road if you want at 30-40$ each the steamboat is 16$ and is almost a clone but more a lookalike to thr tugboatv2, but, with its own branding. Phenomenal flavor and easy to build on. The two caps totally change the performance of the RDA as well.
Mutation x v4 is usually 25-35$ and is also very versatile but to use it as a flavor atty with bottom airflow can make wicking a little challenging for a noob.
The steakboar is really a great l, easy to build, deal juice well rda

I don't have a mod yet, I'm using a Spinner II, but I'm thinking of getting a Knox to start with. I guess I want to spend as little as possible but not have anything shitty. Can I find a decent RDA for less than 20?

Yeah that steamboat is 16$ at 101vape.com
That same site has several clones for around or under 20$
Never heard of a knox

If you're going to use a kbox, you'll want to get a good ohm meter also. The kbox doesn't have am onboard display

Yeah a meter is on my list as well. I just have to figure it all out and then get it past the CFO (wife).

Ma bad you right, ,..but that brings your total start up cost for a mod to 20$ fir the mod, 10$ for the battery, 15$ for a charger and 15$ for the meter.
The battery and charger can be used for other mods but the meter and mod is still what 35-40$
Or these that have an ohm meter built in
The coolfire has the battery and charger built n also so that's an even better deal depending on how you look at it,

That Coolfire looks pretty sweet. I assume that when the battery craps out the whole mod is toast though, huh?

True and the battery life is equal to that of 1 18650. But its something else in your price range and innokin makes some terrific hardware. I had one of their on board battery devices last over a year.
Trying to let you seem some of the other products in that category.
I thought sigelei's 50w was close. for someone looking to use tanks but play with RDAs its really perfect I was wrong though with coupon code 'HUFf50w' its $55.17 the chip in this mod is one of the best on the market and its really fantastic for a new builder. Uses a single 18650.

Coupon code:huff50w

Nothing wrong with the kbox, just when I branched out I never took the time to look at what else was out there and I wish that I did. With a new builder using a regulated that read our for your resistance would be a nice caveat. Then again that's a really great price for a quality 40w piece.

The more I think about it the more I'm leaning towards the Coolfire. You're right, by the time I bought batteries and a charger the Kbox isn't so cheap anymore, even on sale. The Coolfire will probably be just fine until I can afford something else. I also really like that you can use it while it's charging.
I have something else. I saw a tutorial on how to rebuild a Kanger protank coil and though it would be an easy way to learn since I was already using them anyway. I bought the materials I need, but for the life of me cannot figure out how to use the meter with it. Here is the tank I'm using, can anyone tell me how to mount it to the meter?

You should be able to just screw the tank onto the meter.

Yea, that's what I thought too. Maybe I'm just missing the concept or something. Here's what I'm dealing with.

honestly I just use my mod; but, you should be able to just turn it one and screw down the tank
other than that, make sure your coil is screwed down all the way, and that 510 in the coil is installed correctly and making contact with the reader. The coil should have one log under the insulator and one over thr insulator. (not sure if you rebuilt that one ot not. )

I'm sorry, I really should have explained a little better. Not enough coffee yet this morning. My problem is that the tank fits on my Spinner II just fine but it's way too big to fit on the meter's ego threads. I think I need some kind of adaptor.

I've seen a few reports but nothing would quantify as a-lot. Then again I could be wrong, I've had the outlook that angry people are louder than happy people. It definitely seemed like less issues than those of us who got but by the dna40 screen garbgle,

Do you have a suggestion for the OP? 45$ OR UNDER at least 40w mod?

Just FYI, I ended up getting a Smok XPro M 65. I'm really loving it so far. I appreciate all the advice, folks.

Good to hear! Also, I just saw this post and to test coil resistance you need to use the 510 threads on your meter - to fit an ego tank you'd need an ego-to-510 adaptor. Maybe one came with your Smok?

Yeah, an adaptor came with the XPro but I did pick one up from my B&M over the weekend so now I have 2!
