So visiting a friend and his wife yesterday my buddy and I were vaping in the garrage. Wife enters and we are all chatting.
She brings up popcorn lung and asks me if I've heard of it. She said her friend that works at a hospital has seen cases of vapers with it recently and by the way she described it, people were lining up at the door with the condition.
You would think that would be plastered all over the news and anti vaping would be all over it, but I couldn't find anything.
She never did smoke a lot, a few while she is drinking so maybe a pack every couple weeks I would guess.
She was scared straight and is no longer vaping. If she isn't smoking, then that's not a bad thing to completely quit but I would guess smokes found their way back into her life... but I forgot to ask so can't say but that would be a step backwards if that's the case. [Back to smoking or not is irrelevant, but I know the question will be asked so I thought I'd just put that in there to start with.]
My buddy quit vaping for a month but has read up on the subject and went back to vaping.
So anti vaping says ejuice contains the baddies and that it could be harmful. I have seen doctors state that the trace amounts in most ejuice is not enough to cause harm. We know for sure there's less in ejuice than cigarettes.
So what I was looking for but did not find is if there has been 1 single case of popcorn lung from smoking cigarettes. We all know about the popcorn factory workers, there is a recent case at a pet food factory but I would be interested to know if one single person that smokes has come down with the dreaded popcorn lung. I don't think a vaper has but that could be argued that there hasn't been enough time to know if it will be a problem in the long run.
But smoking has been around long enough and from what I can tell has over 100× more diacetyl so if one case could be found, it would be a smoker.
Now, I didn't ask what the position of this person that works at a hospital is, could be the cashier at the cafeteria or their lung specialist. I was not going to argue the point because she had already made up her mind so I just enjoyed my vape and a few IPA's
