One in 10 Americans Now Vape but Most Also Use Regular Tobacco Products

Three out of four of e-cigarette users are now both vaping and smoking

So by my calculations (1 in 10 = 10% and 1/4 no longer smoke)

2.5% of ALL AMERICANS have quit smoking due to Vaping.

So why the fuck are the so pissed off and why are they complaining about the other 7.5%?

For all we know they are making the transition to vaping.

The 2.5% sure as hell ain't transitioning to smoking.

The gateway is AWAY from smoking and they know it - 5150

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/06/10/us-usa-ecigarette-poll-analysis-idUSKBN0OQ0CA20150610

About 10 percent of U.S. adults now vape, according to the online Reuters/Ipsos poll of 5,679 Americans conducted between May 19 and June 4. That's almost four times higher than a U.S. government estimate that 2.6 percent of adults used e-cigarettes in 2013.

So where was the poll done?

They could find a HUGE difference in the numbers between say

1) Taking the poll in the parking lot of a vape shop

or

2) Taking the poll in the parking lot of a smoke shop

There is a Big difference in what those 5,679 Americans that are considered ALL OF AMERICA are going to think

10%? Wow, that's a huge number, given I've heard figures putting the smoking rate at 18-20% - half as many people vape as smoke? I wonder why I still feel like part of a secret club...

Still, I trust Reuters numbers - any serious news org is smart enough to know that near a vape shop or near a smoke shop is a terrible place to get a good gauge of the general population if you're surveying vape/smoke usage.

The linked report is too brief for any meaningful takeaway, but methinks that a good chunk of vapers are likely younger users - kids experimenting with hookah, cigs, and vapes - if you were to, say, limit the survey to people 30 and older, you'd probably eliminate a large percentage of the crowd whose only "traditional" tobacco use is hookah and likely find more like a 30-40% conversion from cigs to vape...

More smokers trying vaping. GOOD
Most smokers that want to quit will quit using e-cigarettes. GOOD

WTF is the problem with dual use. Cigarettes are the best nicotine delivery system made. Vaping has a learning curve and taste curve.
Should it be suggested that you shouldn't vape and continue to smoke. BAD

There are no significant safety concerns associated with using more than one OTC NRT at the same time, or using an OTC NRT at the same time as another nicotine-containing product—including a cigarette.

Right I always see those bullshit "I quit for 3 days. Just not all at once" NRT commercials telling people to keep chewing the gum or popping the suicide pill while smoking.

"One Victory at a Time"

Yea Right!

Only if it's their method
