All I know is it smelled so bad I banned him from the office. He always brought his maple vape after that. Might not have been so bad if he was using lower watts.
My son has a couple that sometimes hit me oddly; one is a coffee/tobacco/vanilla/cinnamon mix, which smells rather like butterscotch; it's not bad, but I'd rather not smell it, than smell it.
He also likes the cherry-vanilla pipe tobacco mix I created, though smelling it when he vapes it reminds me of why I stopped vaping it -- just never been much of a fan of cherry flavors, courtesy of all those horrible medicines as a child. Though I love cherry soda, like Shirley Temples or Code Red -- I guess those are more like maraschino cherry than true cherry, which I really don't like. He also vapes this one called Nana Puddin which I really dislike, and when I tasted it myself, I realized why: it's got a cinnamon component, but it's not real cinnamon, but cinnemaldehyde -- which tastes to me like scorched metal -- as if the coil is going bad and needs replacement ASAP! In a word, ick.
So if he and I are going to be riding around together in the truck, he vapes his own mix of my strawberry & cream (higher nic, no Flash, more VG). I don't smell that one at all, for obvious reasons, and my husband is well used to it, since I've been vaping it since Dec 2014.
But even so... the smell of a burning cigarette is just foul, and the smell of stale cigarette smoke, cigarette ash, burnt-out butts, even worse -- to me it's kind of a mix of that dead-dino stink of hot tar, burning tires, and burning excrement. As little as I like some of the vapes I've smelled... I like every one better than the smell of cigarettes. And don't even get me started on the REEK of cigars -- I hated them even when I smoked cigarettes, now the smell nearly makes me vomit.
I can QUITE understand why tobacco was called "stinkweed."
