New YouTube Policy Eases Up On Video Game Violence

YouTube announced that it has updated its policies regarding scripted or simulated violence for video games. Going forward, videos that include violent scenes from video games are less likely to be age-restricted on YouTube, though there are still some caveats.

In a new support blog post on Google, the company announced that starting on December 2, 2019, “scripted or simulated violent content found in video games will be treated the same as other types of scripted content.”

What this means specifically for YouTubers who create video game content on the platform is that future game videos that include “scripted or simulated violence” have a better chance of being approved instead of receiving an age restriction. Age-restricted videos are often age-gated, making them harder to watch.
