Metallic flavor

Do coils begin to develope a metallic flavor as they age? My first successful build for my erlkonigin has begun to taste like I'm licking a copper pipe after about a week. Re-wicking and changing juice isn't helping. Resistance hasn't changed much, it's actually increased from 1.75 to 1.8 ohms. Time to wind up another?

I used to get a metallic flavor when I first started vaping - it was vaper's tongue! My coils don't get that flavor as they age. When they die, they literally just fall apart:p Or they look too nasty after dry burning.

What are you wicking with? Silica sometimes gives off a foul flavor. Also are you using kanthal or nichrome wire? I have noticed foul metallic flavor from the generic wire that comes with most clone atomizers. Check how tight your wicking is in your coil. If its too restrictive you won't properly wick juice to the center of your coil and you will burn your wicking and that will produce a distinctive flavor.
