Really? Are you familiar with the McDonalds case? The only morons are those who provide coffee that's too hot to drink and is capable of 3rd degree burns.Agreed. In a world where you can sue a restaurant because your were a moron and burned yourself with coffee, having a signed waiver is golden.
Dude... you should be banned for posting that nasty shit.Really? Are you familiar with the McDonalds case? The only morons are those who provide coffee that's too hot to drink and is capable of 3rd degree burns.
The battery guy got off easy compared to Mrs.Liebeck.
PHOTO REMOVED BY VU MODERATION TEAM (A link to the photo would have been sufficient)
And BTW the crazy, outrageous settlement was equal to 2 days of coffee sales for McDonalds. Nor was it was the first time this had happened.
So, you think the skin of an elderly woman, burn more or less easy, than someone of a younger age?Really? Are you familiar with the McDonalds case? The only morons are those who provide coffee that's too hot to drink and is capable of 3rd degree burns.

Just to illustrate the point that the McDonald's case wasn't any laughing matter like most people think it is, since people were comparing the two cases. What does posting the photo's of a woman who spilled boiling hot coffee on her crotch have to do with batteries igniting in some dudes pocket, except for shock value?
Its not so much that, again.. The cup was Styrofoam and was very close to its melting point. When she took the lid off, the cup collapsed as the lid was the only thing making it hold its shape. So, the fault was not really her's, though they did find that she held some responsibility.Sweet Jesus...
What happened to personal responsibility?'
Did the clerk throw it at her?
Handicapped? Really? Was she physically incapable of returning work?
I'm not sticking up for McDonald's I'm saying we have become a crybaby society and unable to accept our own faults
That was reduced.. she didnt get even half a million.I'm just educating you on the truth of what that case was about. It wasn't a frivolous lawsuit. The poor women was horribly injured and McDonald's refused to settle out of court and insisted on a jury trial, in which they admitted the only reason they kept coffee that hot was because the pot of coffee would stay fresh longer thus saving them some money not having to make a new pot of coffee. The woman was rewarded 2 days worth of McDonald's coffee sales. It came to 1.7 million dollars. A drop in the bucket to McDonalds, literally a mere two days of coffee sales.
I have noticed that too, and even with a story reported about these types of things , how do we know what all the facts are , speculation is harmful IMO, and its really not helping the vaping communitySo the battery thing........ false or not false???
I've seen so many threads on important vaping issues denegrate into an argument about shit
Not related to vaping.
I was trying to correlate a well known case related to personal responsibility to the personal responsibility with using batteries. A bunch of ex-smokers will argue about anything, and that's what's Gonne be our downfall with regulation. If we can't come together on this, then what? We all need to up our nice(myself included).
Now I'm sorry I bothered to post anything since my one statement has led to almost two pages of an argument that has nothing to do with the matter at hand.
Sweet Jesus I'm sorry, ya'll win.
back to the batteries, please?
Amen to that....I have noticed that too, and even with a story reported about these types of things , how do we know what all the facts are , speculation is harmful IMO
Can i say amen here?
They told me my medical records were private. How did you find out about this? And it's true. I was just showering with my gerbil and next thing ya know...Kind of like those people who go to the ER with something stuck up their bunghole and claim they slipped on the object in the shower.
Lol... that picture is fucking nasty. Nobody in this country wants to take responsibility. Everyone wants a free ride. This is why this country is going to shit, and the hard working middle class is paying the price.
Not sure why this is directed to me... but i have no problem with someone recieving benifits like you are. I have a problem with people taking advantage of the system.... especially when they do that while at the same time complaining about the system that takes care of them.
Ouch... i am guessing that is your leg and hip?
Not all lawsuits are frivolous.
When I was 19 I worked for a MAJOR realty firm in Chicago. They were hiring non-union people so that they could get their office spaces remodeled at the cheapest possible cost. I ended up falling off a ladder and severely injuring my back. Didn't even think about suing them. But to this day I have problems with my back and this keeps me from doing things that could increase my quality of life. I look back and ask myself why I didn't sue them. Even if you get a hundred thousand dollars, how long does that last over a course of a lifetime? Four years? Eight years if you're frugal?
What doctors? I didn't have any money to see doctors back then. I suffered through it. And to this day I have back problems. Let's not lump all lawsuits in with each other. It's one thing to sue a small mom and pop operation because you were reckless with your batteries, and quite another to sue a multi-billion dollar corporation because their coffee crippled you (forgive me for bringing that up again). Then once you do sue and if you have a severe medical problem do you really think doctors will be lining up to help you out?
Once you the fact that you are 'sue happy' gets on your record doctors will run as far as then can when you show up at the emergency room.
Doctors stick together kind of like frat brothers.
