How to tell if a box mod has mosfet chip?

I just took two unregulated box mods off the hands of a close friend that quit vaping but he doesn't know if they have mosfet chips in them or not.

These are my first unregulated box mods so I'm needing some help please!

I lifted it's skirt, pulled down it's panties, & Nope, no chip.

I'm even more confused now. They aren't VV but they have chips in them? So far I understand that mosfet chips take load off the switch and lowers voltage drop?

You're confused because Whiskey's post is not accurate. A purely mechanical mod is unregulated and won't have any kind of chip, but a mod can be unregulated, but not purely mechanical, and still use chips for various purposes other than providing regulation.
