American Pie has two meanings to me.
The first one is personal and since it hit me in such a deep level most likely not forgotten.
The second, of course, is on Feb. 3, 1959 Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper died in a plane crash.
Don McLean also said the following in an interview published in the auction catalog.
“Basically in American Pie things are heading in the wrong direction.”
That quote is the reason that I think of this song for both of reasons.
It is time to remember and let's do that with music.
