900mAh in Lipo is not the same as 900mAh in 18650s. The Lipo they use is actually a 3 cell, giving an effective 2700mAh.

The newer ones should be out within the next month (I hope). They'll be available in colors, have a 1300mah 3 cell LIPO battery, and some sort of Dotmod proprietary chip in addition to the DNA200 board.
