Ncuti Gatwa has hinted he'll return for a third season of Doctor Who, saying he's "not going anywhere soon."

Speaking to Variety, Gatwa, who will play the fifteenth incarnation of the Doctor in the beloved sci-fi series, expressed his commitment to the role and shared his intention to stick around for a while, as showrunner Russell T. Davies revealed he's "already making plans" beyond the initial two season order.

The show's latest Christmas special, "The Church on Ruby Road," saw the Fifteenth Doctor take center stage, with Millie Gibson's Ruby Sunday as his sidekick. However, Gibson is reportedly leaving the series after just one season, with Andor's Varada Sethu set to take over as the Doctor's next companion for future episodes.

Gatwa's first full run in the TARDIS will begin when Doctor Who Season 14 premieres on Disney+ on May 10 and the BBC on May 11. According to the official plot synopsis, the Fifteenth Doctor will go on quite the adventure, travelling through time and space and encountering everything from "the Regency era in England to war torn futures."

The trailer for the new season offered a glimpse of the Doctor's escapades, as he stepped out of the show's iconic time-travelling police box to roam with dinosaurs, dance with debutantes, and fight off monsters, or as the Time Lord prefers to call them: the "creatures you haven't met yet" — including a terrifying bogeyman.

Gatwa is currently filming his second season as the Doctor ahead of his first season airing on screens, and according to the actor, this is the beginning of a bold new era for Doctor Who that will carry a "very exciting" bi-generation plot and unleash "a whole pantheon full of different villains and lore and mythology."
