Does the battery life seem any different?
So far ... Oh hell yeah. 57 pulls and im only down to 88% on the battery. Im not sure about getting 2.5 times the battery life. The download only suggests 55% longer run times. So far its doing much better.

I really have to put a hold on that last comment. I just had something really wierd happen.
I was getting all stoked on the extended battery life, looking at the counter hit 75 while the battery level was still reading 83%. Then the battery level just started dropping like a stone.70% 40% 10% ZERO it was still hitting at zero albeit really weak. That was on a vtc4, i swapped it out for an efest purple and reset the counter just to see if there would be any difference. But im kinda mystified by this happenstance.my volt meter is at the shop so i wasnt able to meter the battery

I've read a few crazy stories about things happening after the firmware update. Some people were saying the mod is putting out incorrect voltage and some saying its going all super powered for the first few seconds then levels off to the wattage setting melting insulators and stuff.

I havent had any of that happen but a second battery crapped out about 80% im not sure if thers any real change in battery consumption or just the interpretation of percentages. This time i took the dead battery and put it in my zmax and it read 3.3v. So yeah,it was dead. For the time being, untill i get this better figured out that 20% just represents the usable voltage one my battery.
Adapt and evlove.

Id have to find it again but i do recall an option to go back to factory settings

I don't vape much higher then 15w unless I'm trying to show off. The Dual 18650 is what has me most interested. put a pair of vtc5's and I won't have to carry spare batteries.

That's exactly why I ordered the IPV3.

I was on the fence as too which way I was going to go. I think the charging port on the IPV swayed me. That is how I charge my cana dna30.

Good luck charging 2x vtc5s. Probably going to take you 4hrs+. Might be just me because I hate pioneer4you and their shitty business practices. Sigelei is a much better company, service and ethics wise.

So my T5 did eventually crap out after the 75 watt upgrade. It worked like normal for about a day and a half and then died mid vape. There were 3 upgrades in all.i only did the 1. There was the 75 watts, the passthrough option and one more.(i think it was to switch from celsius to ferenhieght) as i understood the problem there were lines of code that were in conflict or some such. Well, mine is now dead. On the upside cloupor is buying me a new one. Theyre supposed to put 90$ on my paypal and i go buy a new one. If thats not standing behind your products i dont know what is.

First thing is to figure out how to open it without destroying it.unless the chip is ruined the ultimate idea would be to put it back together and have it work. It would suck to go through all that and have nothing to show for it except a 12 packs worth of recyclable aluminum.
So far i have noticed some warping in the plastic at the positive end of the battery tube.

I read somewhere about cloupor having something that lets you go back to factory settings. Did you try that?

Pony,
I got my refund from Cloupor too (90$) and nothing about sending mine back. Did manage to get the T5 open. All you have to do is on the top with the writing, that is a sticker.Use a pen knife around the rim and peel off the sticker. Then you will see the 3 screws holding the top on.Nice, solid chunk of metal on top.My fire button quit but soon discovered that it was not software related so am waiting on updated switch.Does look clean inside and works fine hotwired! (LOL)
Hope that helps out a few people.

Yeah, that reset to factory default settings was about the only thing the cloupor rep asked of me. Thats also whats giving me some hope this thing can be fixed.
The instructions were to pull the battery and leave the cover off, then press the scroll down button and connect the usb cord to the computer and click on the restore rom. If you got the "root success" message.... Cool, that part worked.
My problem was that it wont power on from a battery. The screen would come on and read 'charging' on the cord, but not on battery. So i hope its just something between the battery and the chip and not the chip itself.
And now thanks to roadshaker i know how to open it.

Hmm. Rooting and roms. Are you familiar with androids? Somebody over at xda might be able to set you up with a hack for the firmware.

Also @pony if you receive a new unit do you want to sell me the broken one? Doesnt have to be just pony. If anybody wants to sell a broken t5 I would be interested. I'm going to see if somebody can make an odin(samsung root) equivalent for the cloupor over at xda

@r2beat the android guys work as a huge team over there at XDA .to root the samgung as well as make the best roms cyangemods they would have to know about the chip etc and see if there is working software first they can download or get a hold of to see if they can reverse engineer it I have been a member there for 10 years or so... I am sure there is something wrong with the way she is doing it saying her computer would not charge it... Just a Best guess scenario. I doubt they would take it on as they do it for the sake of the android community you can try I will see it and just do not think you will get much of a response

Yeah I've used xda since forever. Love that fucking place. But back on topic, even the new rooting methods and all are only started when somebody makes a bounty. When the s3 first came out it took a while and a several thousand dollar bounty to get it completed. The only reason I say it might work is because im 99% sure cloupor doesn't have the type of security some droids have. Also did you see some of the new sections? They expanded past droids albeit other sections are still small.

Edit: if the security isn't tight or there's nothing blocking us, we might be able to get somebody to take on the project for a low bounty like $50-$100.

Also wouldn't you say its thousands of small teams instead of one large one?

Yes many small teams ok I really do not want to discuss an phone hacking site you can always conversation me with this stuff I personally do not see the T5 as popular enough to warrant or get much attention

If we talk about cloupor hacking its fine lol. I think?

Also bounties are usually filled out by one person. Popularity doesn't matter as long as there is a bounty matching the difficulty level from what I've seen.

If anybody is interested in selling me a broken t5 please pm me. I found a couple people who are interested in taking a gander at hacking the firmware on xda. Im just waiting for somebody more reputable so I can send a broken t5.

Unless you are a developer you wont be able to go in the thread. Go to xda and click on the developers sub forum and search cloupor.

So far the bounty is $15(mine) and most are looking for the price of a t5. Depending on the chip newer and older cloupors may work.

Currently working on fixing broken t5s and customizing working ones. Ill post updates here. If anybody knows where I can buy broken t5s please dont hesitate to link.

Hopefully I will have an IPV V2 in my grubby mits shortly.

And that should keep me happy for quite a while.

As for the larger wattage offerings with dual batteries, I am going to sit back and wait for the dust to settle and the reviews from the vaping public at large to be plentiful before I even consider an upgrade.

I think I am going to do the same @UncleRJ I have the IPV V2 and dna 30's. We know nothing of SMY (God mod) who knows what this thing will do..
could be a huge success or
it could just go Boom!! literally haha I am sure this will start a debate :)

Its not a matter of 'if', the new one should be here by thursday. My ipv2 should be here today. It may have only been 50 watts but i was getting into it. .4 ohm dual coil build on an orchid at about 40 watts was awesome. And ive had to make do with my vtr in the mean time.

Well my ipv isnt here yet. Usps tracking still says they got notice to expect the package, but not that theyve got it.
Tracking for the new T5 says it should be here wednsday. Which would be cool.
But at the same time since i signed up for the ipv co-op i got in the preorder for the T5,
Got the T5,
Used the T5,
Killed the T5,
Negotiated customer service at cloupor,
Got reimbursed for the dead T5,
Ordered a new T5,
And now im poised to get the new T5 all before i get the ipv2 which i ordered first.
(9/24- got the replacement T5 and have been using it)
I dont blame the people running the co-op. I know who deserves the blame and hes a sales rep with p4u going by the name denny.

T5 innards...

Oh so close on the T8 but no cigar.. What is it with the charging port being on the bottom again?? I would love to hear why the China box builders think this is a good thing cuz I think it blows enormously.. I have noticed when the port in down there it usually means no pass-thru vaping on the device.. Oh well waiting on reviews now..
That's because it is NOT a charging port. Read the specs! It's strictly for firmware updates!

My T5 had the EXACT same problem long before the firmware update was released. I got mine a few days after first batch release and it died the same way as yours 10 days later. Vendor gave me a refund and I bought a sigelei 100w. Wish I could've kept my broken t5 AND got the refund. Glad things worked out for you.
