Yes, for Samhain I had a beer. Went outside and offered the first of it in a circle, the four winds, North, East, West, South. I invited any spirits what chose to come speak with me, held the apartment door open for a bit to let them come in. It was too chilly out for me to set and drink a beer.
They understood. Pap agreed to overlook my having a beer though I know he still disagrees. Wife's grandfather doesn't mind me drinking any kind of booze, knows it's a rarity. Papaw John didn't mind as he too would take nips now and then from a bottle in the old wood chicken house. Big Ernie, my dad's dad didn't care. My step father always tries making something from nothing and so it was oh so terrible I was drinking, I was ending up "like him". *ahem*
They are all passed that last gate. I try to have an open line, circle on Samhain each year. Find I can leave it open and let close on its own power. It is a circle for souled spirits so not quite suited for demons to manipulate, or use to advantage. Although I've had some bumps here and there but nothing too distressing. Each year I learn more in casting it. I've always shown respect to the spirits, even a few that seem keen to be negative.
Balance is like the tide of the oceans. We need to learn to float, imho. There's no point fighting against a force of nature to get anywhere when nature goes everywhere, eventually. Think we'll always have light and darkness as well as the gift of choice. And no I'm not arguing we be fully subjective, nor be absolutists. In that like with the lesson of always having good and evil, we should learn there's a middle path that is quite objective. We need balance in shorter terms.
I'm kind of feeling a bit hopeful yet skeptical. The
Guardian has roughly twenty some pages of stories about the Trump Russia investigation / Impeachment process. Have found them to be quite on spot in relating facts, objectively and to do good investigative journalism without yellow dog journalism. There's
one story which seems pertinent for me.
Wife and me discussed the substance of the story briefly. Agreed that it ought not be any surprise Congress did not do anything much, or seem to when the GCHQ gave over the information to the U.S. "officials". After all our "representatives" no longer represent the American People but rather Capital and corporate interests. Only makes sense then they'd not be too bothered by one of their own endangering our nation for personal gain.
Yet here we are moving to impeach him. In my opinion he ought to be ruled a threat to national security for mental incompetence after his statement about Washing Post suggesting he was too incompetent to have done quid pro quo. Trump had to assure everyone, paraphrasing, "If I wanted to do the damn quid pro quo, I'm competent enough to have done it." What was missed was the Washington Post wrote what it did as a means of trying to offer him some modicum of defense. I think this constitutes adequate proof needed for an Article 25 removal from office. Little matter though, we are heading to impeaching him, this provides me hope.
Then, I get skeptical remembering that hydras can have thousands of heads. Who is in line to replace him? Surely it'll not be his VP as since his VP knew of these dealings, he's complicit in the duplicity of the office. He too should be impeached and possibly charged with criminal offenses the same as Trump. And well, let's go into Congress and see who is next. Well, oh yes, this is the same congress that took so long to get here. Could it be they we're delaying in order to get themselves clear of the duplicity? I wouldn't discount that as a possibility. Unfortunate for them the damage is done and we see it for what it is.
This is all merely my personal opinion, thoughts, feelings. I'll not debate them & reserve my right to change them with, or without notice. Not going much further in discussing politics. It does get frustrating to talk about, saddening. Know that I may likely vote again, all my votes will be for Other___ No Confidence___. Our democratic system has failed because money got brought into it, debt too. We rightly ought not have any debt, we ought to refuse fiat currency. Sure, these oughts are my opinions too. Well, said enough or not enough. All I desire saying for now. Done talked out.
