clogged coils

hey i like to poke holes in the cotton of my coils, but i lost my vape tools so i used a saftey pin. i noticed a funny after taste, not harsh.. just weird. i wonder if the saftey pin scratched against the coils leading to saftey pin residue on my coil :(. Any thoughts and advice would be...
