@St.Roostifer I know my watts are low, I do enjoy my fruits at a cooler vape. Unfortunately I am tc challenged, even with my DNA devices. Absolutely hopeless actually.
Apologies if I came across as taking a shot at you, not my intention. I know many people vape at low watts, some just like it that way and some due to their vaping high nicotine.

I prefer to vape at lower wattage myself but and used until I picked up the new wire. The resistance is so low I have to build large diameter coils with it to raise the resistance or I'd be vaping even higher, lol.

What problems are you having with TC? Last night I converted the three black OBS to the 5mm ID coils and set up each mod to run in TC to keep the vape warm. Blasting at 50W was a bit hot and dry for my throat and mouth so I set up TC and am much happier. Perhaps we can figure it together. :D

Just commenting on wattage. No apology needed. I know how to use tc, just don't notice any benefit at my watts. I do find the exotic coils a challenge to dial in with tc tho. Thanks for the offer of help but I'm pretty content with my vape, I just like to play around and change it up now and again.

I understand what you're saying. Before I picked up the low resistance SS wire I was vaping in wattage mode between 25-32W. Didn't even consider TC until I found out how much more W the wire needed to produce the flavor I like, which is even better than before but at the expense of battery life.

I sacrificed coil life and started ordering thinner wire for quicker ramp and that negated my need for tc. I still get 3-5 weeks from my coils so I'm good with it. Tried using the hard ramp on my mods and wasn't crazy about it. Do have the Zeus on a Therion 166 and have a slight preheat set for that coil.

I love this hobby! There are so many combinations to tinker with its like building an engine and tuning it.

I was just on AVS's site looking at wire for my next purchase. They have a few variations available that run a higher resistance which should allow me to lower the wattage a bit. Gonna be a while because I've got about about 20ft of the four core Clapton wire left, lol.

Just about all my wire and pre-builts come from AVS. Do have a spool of ss rectangular wire from Kbee to play with. Tried it on it's own and it was easy to work with but resistance of the coil didn't sit right with me. Was thinking to try a parallel with a round wire. Have not mixed my wire types in that way before so not sure what I'll end up with.

Another AVS fan, woo-hoo! I have another window opened up on their site looking wire. Thinking about trying their 32X3 40 fused Clapton wire for the higher resistance. Also thinking about purchasing wire to make my own vertibraid wire as well.

I have AVS spool tri core parallel fc 30gx3/38g. Easier to wrap than I'd anticipated. Also have several tins of various prebuilts. I particularly enjoy the staggered fc in my drippers, tho the one in the Gorge is a bit much. The only coil I did not enjoy was the vertibraid, had a very hard time getting an even glow and then was let down with the vape. Maybe the spool will be better, coil wires were pretty loose. I'll be ordering more spools in a month or so.

Good to know about the vertibraid. One reason I didn't order it last time is it looks like a wire that would produce a lot if spit back. Am I right in thinking that?

Definitely going to grab the triple twisted Clapton because I think the 40GA Clapton wire should alleviate some spit back. Well, in theory anyway.

Honestly don't remember whether there was spit back. My first order from them was over a year ago; had those vertibraids in first sample pack. Flavor from four core fc is great, but ramp is a little slow without tc preheat. I enjoyed the aliens as well. Can hardly wait for my Drop to get here so I can install a framed staple from AVS in it. Know I'll love that pairing.

Yeah, I'm loving the flavor from the four core FC wire. It's working great on my Tesla 150 TS's and Smoant Charon. My Nebula's are rather tricky though because I cannot adjust the wattage in TC mode so it ramps at 65W and I have to keep the temp setting around 300 which is very odd since the other mods I have set at 45W 500°F. Might switch the Nebula's back to CCW mode were I can tune the wattage similarly to how TC regulates. I really do need to get my hands on a DNA device. Not sure why I haven't yet.

Have not tried framed staples yet but I really want to. I recently watched Sherlock Ohms make framed staples and they look like they would be full of flavor.

Framed staple is wicked and I feel it is wasted on the Zeus. It begs for a rda to me. Literally whispers in my ear and begs. I have a pair of staggered fc from AVS in my Goon styled that are great, do occasionally have to pick myself off the floor tho. I'm such a puss. Came home the other night and had drank one of those ridiculously large margaritas and thought a drip off the Goon sounded good. So I loaded it up with juice and took my Em outside and of course took a big rip...knocked my tits in the dirt and being drunk took me 10 minutes to find them.

The coil whisperer! Is the flavor lacking on the Zeus? The FS really looks like it was made for an rda. Would love to throw a FS between the posts on one of my 22mm Herakles rda's.

Damn near fell off the chair from laughing so hard. Thank you for the laugh, awesome! I know what you mean though. Last fall I knocked a few drinks back and started chain vaping on some 3mg and got rocked. Ended up sitting outside in the backyard listening to music until 4am before the buzz came down enough for me to fall asleep without feeling the rotation of the earth.

Flavor on the Zeus is good, but the framed staple in a tank is a bit warmer than I care for and the 47w I'm using doesn't let the coil shine. I'm going to mix up a dessert juice for Zeus tomorrow, maybe 4mg so I can open up that lovely af and crank it up a bit. Like desserts warmer.

Your backyard brought up a memory from back in the day. We'd cruising country roads doing what you do when cruising country roads and had a jug of spring water laced with Seagrams VO...well anyway we ended up stuck in some random field. Couldn't get unstuck so we just cranked up the radio and were sitting on the hood. I remember having a long discussion about theories concerning how the stars weren't moving but we seemed to be. Not once did the earth's rotation or the VO et al enter into the conversation. We woke up car dead, stuck, and not a clue where we were. Those were the days.

Ah, the framed staple looks like it would be warmer considering the amount of wire used. Lol, I just finished watching Sherlock Hohms making the framed staple wire, again. Lol.

So yes u make your own juice? Pretty cool. I have flavorings but haven't made the leap yet. Want to read more before giving it a go.

Ha ha. Cruising country roads and drinking reminds me of some stories my lady has told me about when she lived in Georgia in her youth. She always makes me wish I grew up in the south.

I pulled the deck on one of my Nano's tonight to check the cotton because I thought tasted a hint of singed cotton. Luckily all was well and chalk it up to the blue Raz flavor which for some reason tastes a bit off to me no matter the brand name. Maybe my taste buds are weird, I dunno.

Anyway. My one and only nit picky complaint with the Nano is the location of the smaller air hole behind the build deck. IMHO, it's useless and creates a mild turbulence in the space of the build deck. The idea behind the design is to provide more airflow to the coil but between the coil and the second air hole is the chimney. When inhaling the Nano, how is that air supposed to hit the coil if it gets sucked up the chimney first? Makes no sense for a flavor chaser like myself. So for shits and giggles I took a small piece of folded up paper towel and neatly wedged it into the second air hole to block it off.

After that I put the deck back in, refilled and fired up the nebula. Now the airflow is smoother, quieter and I get noticeably more flavor from the blue Raz with a thicker cloud at about 3 or 4 watts lower than before. The draw is a bit more restricted but it's actually perfect for me because I prefer a mildly restricted draw anyway. I used to close the top air flow to about half way but now have them wide open.

Nothing ground breaking or anything, the wheel has not been re-designed. Just wanted to share this with fellow Nano vapers is all. :)

If anyone gives this a whirl I'd like to hear their thoughts, good or bad.

I was going to change the blue Raz to an rda but I might leave it now. Gonna check the paper towel again next time it's ready for a refill.

Alright. Just checked the paper towel and it's still firmly embedded in its new home so I juiced back up and ready to rock when I wake up. Speaking of, it's almost 5am so it's about time for me to go stretch out for bed. Have a good one everybody. :D

Thanks man! It didn't occur to me the problem would be the sound. :vino:

Don't know why but for some reason when you said you would give it a try, that scene from that movie popped in my head. Damn, now I want to fire up the Xbox and pop in that DVD.

Sure, I like dhags, but I like caravans more.

Haven't seen all of Guy Ritchie's movies but I absolutely love Snatch, Rock N Rolla and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. King Arthur was pretty good too.

What this has to do with the Nano, I'm sure I don't know. :bliss:

I've heard some people using a tightly balled up piece of cotton and wedge it in that airhole. I haven't tried it, but heard of good results using that method.

Glad I'm not the only one. For flavor the position of that air hole makes no sense but I guess it would make sense for boosting cloud production.

I'm liking it so far and might do the same to my other nano's.

Ya know, I've been banging hard on a dual coil Movkin JC25 today and am starting to re-think my outlook on dual coil rta's . The cheap little rta is giving me great flavor.

Kinda wish I had one or two less Nano's and one or two more Engine's. o_O

I've got all the Engines and like them all. As for the dual coil Engines, I prefer the Engine Mini to the original Engine. Flavor just pops a bit more with the smaller chamber. Here's a pic for comparison between the full size and Mini.

Nice setups roadtrip! I forgot all about the engine mini and since the flavor pops more that might be a better choice the next time I grab a few tanks.

Using single core Clapton's as an example, how many wraps on the coil can you fit on the mini's deck?

Thank you for posting in this thread and sharing. You got my gears in my head turning.

I've had some single core claptons in it, think it was 26/32, 2.5mm id and either 5 or 6 wraps. Those fit with no problems, hope that helps! :vino:

Definitely helps and thank you. I usually do 6 spaced wraps on my Nano's of that same 26/32 so I'm thinking with the slightly smaller deck I can still do 5 spaced.

Recently watched a very interesting review by a guy named Necrosis on YouTube. Guess he's a huge fan of the Engine and did an informative build tutorial on it. I forget the number of wraps he used but when he installs his coils he pushes the middle wraps inward so they sit just a bit inside the posts. After making sure he has enough space to avoid a short he tightens the grubs down. This allows better airflow from the top where the air enters the build deck to flow around both coils and up through between the coils to the chimney.

I've watched just about every English speaking review on the OBS engine and mini but he's the only one I've seen do this. At the end of the video he was chucking some pretty nice clouds and raved about the flavor. Something I'll keep in mind when I get the Engine and/or mini. IMHO, coil position is very important so I found his video to be intriguing to say the least.

Had a go rebuilding nano today for a TC set up 4mm coil 25g flat wire with a 38g clapton wrap (all 316L) came out at 0.55ohms

also I stuffed the small airhole with left over cotton as promised

Despite how much cotton it looks like in the pic it’s literally just sitting on top...well just about in there anyway and it’s wicking well flavour is better than the 3mm and airhole unplugged ...really smooth draw now

Thanks Roo

You know what's really messed up? Over the last two nights I put knew builds in the three other Nano's I have and completely forgot to plug that small hole, DOH!!! Lol, I'm such a Homer! :giggle:

While I'm here if like to thank you for sharing your wicking ideas with me. I remembered the fun you had wicking the mini and applied it to the Nano's. Once I get the coil wicked and the cotton trimmed to length, I took the bottom half of the bow ties and put them through the wicking holes. The top half I folded down to the deck and trimmed excess off so the top half of the bow tie ( after wetting the cotton with juice) rests neatly on top of the wicking holes. Wicks like a dream! I can chain vape those buggers pretty hard and all they do know is guzzle the juice. Flavor really really pops now. Thanks KingPin! !!:bliss:
