Easiest to Wick and Best Performing RTA

Hello all,

I'm currently undertaking a completely overhaul of my tank rotation and trying to transition over to RTA's. So far I've purchased a Serpent Mini (adore it) and have a ijoy tornado on the way. The tornado was an impluse buy after I saw it on here for $10 shipped but I'm finding it has a few quirks, like the floating deck and no juice flow control. For my next RTA I'd like to get something simple with a good balance of flavor and vapor.

So far I'm leaning towards the Herakles RTA2, mainly because I'm a big fan of their Subtanks. So what is your best performing RTA and most straight forward RTA in your line up? Thanks in advance for your suggestions...

Still a lot of controversy about the Merlin RTA.

The first batches had some bad ones but mine is my current favorite.

SUPER easy to install the coil (just don't over tighten the screws as the head will strip, just tighten until the wire starts to bend a little and you are OK).

IMHO, easy to replace the wick as long as you make certain to tuck the ends into the juice wells.

Thanks for the reply RJ. I should have mentioned I'm mainly interested in duel coil RTA's but will keep the merlin on file.

Also my moonshot is the best performance however it is far from easy to build and wick. The easiest build is my alleria by augvape. It also has a cool look to it and phenomenal flavor.. All at about 30$

Best dual coil RTA I have is the Boreas. Eciggity has a 20% off sale right where it can be had at a great price. A lot of people say it's like a poor man's Aromamizer Supreme. I don't have a Supreme to compare it to but the general consensus is the Supreme is machined slightly better with a separate jfc.

From what I have read you can't go wrong with the Herakles RTA-2, on a lot of reviewers top RTA's list, I got the original RTA with the 4 air holes and like it but the RTA-2 has better wicking and airflow. I got the Herakles Mini RTA on the way, same deck as the RTA-2, should be here today or tomorrow.

Of the tanks I have you can't go wrong with the Boreas and Aromamizer Supreme. The Boreas is the better deal at about $20 but the Supreme has a little better build quality. Flavor and vapor production is very similar, just nit picking to try and point out differences there.

For value I think the Wotofo Conqueror is a screaming deal, I got mine during a 4th sale for $12 and love it. It can still be had in the $15 range, I just bought the black version as a back up because I would really be pissed if I broke of lost mine. Easy to build with the postless deck and the flavor is excellent. I also really like the Tobecco super tank 25mm RTA, $16 at eciggity with the 20% off and it works great.

If you love the Serpent Mini the 25mm version is out and includes a single and dual coil deck.

I have a Merlin but just haven't had much luck with it, it is a good tank and I use it from time to time but not even close to my top 5.

For me the best price for performance is probably the Boreas and Conqueror.....oh dayuuuuuum, the Conqueror is $13.60 after the 20% off https://www.eciggity.com/conqueror-postless-rta-by-wotofo/ Might as well buy the Boreas from there too for $20. Remember free shipping starts at $75 so go nuts, you have all out permission so if your wife gets pissed you can blame us :D

I knew staring this thread was a bad idea, now there like 5 things I want :)

How's the airflow on the Boreas and conqueror ?

Btw, can you call my wife and explain to her why I need all this stuff? Apparently my arguments are not very effective..

The Boreas has more airflow than the Conqueror and is a better cloud chucker for sure. I think the conqueror might have an edge for flavor though. The Conqueror is not a tight draw, i would say similar to the original Crown, maybe just a tad tighter draw.

Tell your old lady you have a special dispensation from DeucesJack to spend over $75 in order to qualify for free shipping. That should work, right? Lmao.

If you aren't scared of building try Moonshot 22or 24mm. If you wanna go easy route then original Limitless 24mm. Limitless has more air.

Seems like we like the same toys anen.. Id also reccomend yhe limitless for a cloud tank..not much on the flavor charts but great thick clouds. I dropped a quad coil in mine and its fun.
Also to the OP i second the aromamizer.. Great build quality. When i put a stainless build in mine and run TC mode with a strawberry juice of anytype it is phenomenal..

Best RTA, For me is the Boreas, absolutely great taste, holds mountains of juice. No small parts to lose like the Aromamizer. Half the price of the Aromamizer. But stock is disappearing. I think that Augvape isn't doing any manufacturing runs after August 8th and discontinued the Boreas already.

Easiest RTA. Herakles RTA-2. My god is it easy to deal with. Probably 90% of the Taste of the Boreas but I think it's missing a bit by having bottom airflow instead of side air flow. But if you look at complexity. The Boreas and Aromamizer are pretty complex multi level devices that are a little sensitive to wicking (both need tons of wicking and sometimes its a bit hard to get enough wicking without choking out inside the coil. The Herakles was sooo easy to build. Wicking is ridiculously easy you just shove the cotton into the wicking well and you can go to the bottom and you really can't over wick it so juice can flow easily. But the rest of the device is a simple as Griffen 22.

I don't have the original Limitless but love my Limitless Plus, I got lucky and got the first version though, not the second version they dropped on everyone with the flat top and no drip tip. That's the main reason I didn't bring the Limitless Plus up but would highly recommend it if you can find the first version with the drip tip and domed cap. I know @Deucesjack has the original limitless, not the plus version, and melted the delrin airflow control so careful with that one. Like @anen and @Vape7od said though the Limitless Plus is a great tank and super easy to build, pretty damn flavorful with some set-up as well.

One tank I forgot to mention which is odd as it is probably my favorite for flavor is the Mage and if you just watch some youtube reviews it is really simple to build and wick. Flavor wise the Mage is my go to, pretty much the closest to a flavor chasing RDA I have.

I am going to throw 1 last wild card out there because I love nothing better than spending other people's money....lol. Just got the Cthulhu V3 in yesterday and started with the dual coil deck and dayum for a bigger tank the flavor is great. I also got in the Herakles Mini RTA at the same time, uses the same deck as the Herakles RTA-2. I put the same build in both tanks and put them both on a pair of Wrecker G2's with the same setting and the Cthulhu has a slight edge on flavor and density of the vapor. The 2 cons with the Cthulhu V3 is it only holds a little over 3ml, you might be able to squeeze in 4ml and the JFC is loose, doesn't move on it's own but can be spun pretty easily.

I think the Cthulhu V3 is pretty damn sharp looking too, I got the black and after a day want to order the SS:

Love how the Cthulhu V3 is a 26mm tank but tapers down to 25mm at the base, real nice touch:

8c5777bdffc004c25605a3c9f23accb0.jpg

The Cthulhu also some with a huge single coil deck, going to compare with the same build to the Serpent Mini when that arrives.

Here is the single coil deck for the Cthulhu V3, placed it next to the Wotofo Ice Cube to give a size reference.

I'm looking at the Pharaoh might have to get one also ordered the Kanger Pro 4.

Its not an RTA but the Pharaoh looks interesting. I hate the branding on the side though. Thats one of the reasons why I love the Tsunami so much, the top cap has no designs or branding on it whatsoever.

image.jpeg I got my tornado today so far so good. It performs really well but is such a hassle to build on. The threads are not all that great and the top fill is the worst. The ring you need to remove to fill is so tight (yes I did pre-lube It with juice) I have you use rubber gloves to get it off. Despite all those things, which really sucks, it has exceptional flavor and vapor production.

The TFV8 is my favorite cloud chucking tank with the Q4 prebuilt coil. The rta is real nice as well but definitely prefer the prebuilt Q4.

Update on the Cthulhu V3 and the single coil deck. Compared to the serpent mini so far with a half a tank through both i prefer the serpent. It tastes like the coil or cotton needs a little more break in with the Cthulhu though, has a slightly odd flavor. I prefer dual coils though is what I am finding out, the single coil deck on the Cthulhu doesn't match the dual coil for my vaping style. The single coil deck is a pain as well to cut your leads, has to be flush or it will short on in the barrel. I might need to recoil it and precut the leads so it is in even further. You can put huge builds in there though but i just went with a simple spaced SS316L to match the serpent build.

Just based on the performance of the dual coil deck on the Cthulhu I went ahead and ordered the SS version as well. A friend of mine tried mine and ordered one too, I just added the SS on his order to get the free shipping.

I know it is an overused expression but the Mage is a Moonshot killer. It is just way easier to wick and build. It has a few cons. Taking it apart is a little trickky at times as the bottom deck does not always unscrew with the whole cap. But the airflow is flawless. The tank does not leak. It is easy top fill. The deck is a velocity style (a little small but dual parallel 24 SS fits at 2.8 diameter). I'm not a tank guy. But even I don't mind the Mage. I have the VCMT. I have two Limitless Plus kicking about. Both great tanks. But the Mage is easier, smaller and very convenient for travel.

Well like I said I had the original. I hated the bottom fill and the deck was tiny and really hard to work with. I'm sure a lot of that has been fixed but normally when I have a bad experience with a companies product I rarely go back. I'm not trying to be a jerk about it but I figure why try something from a company that disappointed me already when there are a ton of new products coming out that look great from companies that have never let me down.

I am stationed in Grafenwoehr, Germany, and about half of the soldiers that vape use Griffins, half use drippers, and a very small group have TFV4s
