Hybrid top cap mod with a subtank that doesnt have a positive pin that sticks out far enough... boom.

Noobs are usually the ones in the news. Noobs shouldn't use hybrids.

Hell I've been vaping for a year and a half now and i still won't use em because they scare the shit out of me. I have bad luck anyway.
I just stick with regulated mods mostly. Every now and then i play with the tube mechs.

I'm assuming shitty battery. Any Google search of almost any subohm tank will tell you not to use on hybrid mod. I'm assuming any half decent B&M would also say this

Doesnt matter if you have a vtc5 in there, if the negative of the 510 touches the top of the cell, boom.
And yeah, every online site I've seen selling subohm tanks has that warning. Maybe he bought it at a brick and mortar and they didn't know what they were doing.

Sad thing is he probably still doesn't know what caused it and is talking to the news... or is lawyer'd up and playing dumb.

I only drip so i could use my troll or mutation or even my igo w on a hybrid but i just ain't comfy with it. I'm a danger when walking up stairs so i don't need ever the slightest chance to f things up that can blow up my face/ take out fingers.
I build super safely mostly. Had to go set up my buddy with some new stuff today as he played the "i don't need a ohm meter" and melted his atty to his mod using 20 ga. The battery vented and melted his shit. Lucky for him it wasnt a boom. I think he learned not to mess around with out a ohm meter.

Wasn't what I meant, they were meant as two separate statements. I didn't mean if he used a good battery it wouldn't of happened. Just stating it was probably a cheap xxxxxfire battery or something.

Yeah, thats not very dramatic when you pull too many amps from the battery and vent it.
A hard short is a whole other story.

As long as the pin sticks out far enough, you're fine. I havent seen one single subohm tank that I would be comfortable putting on a hybrid top.

I got it, I was just saying it doesn't matter how bad ass your battery is... or shitty it is... negative touching positive doesn't turn out well.

Tbh, and I can't prove it but I'm thinking he got that Hercules from a Chinese vendor, given the stickers on the box, I've got them on FT items. So I'm assuming he researched the tank and then found the cheapest price...

And that mod seems to have a bottom cap that can be tightened up past what it should be if you dont know what your doing like my surfrider.
Thats pressing the cell up into the 510 and pushing that pin up to where the battery top touches the negative.

Probably why he has vaped on that for a while without issues (assuming) and all of a sudden, boom. He snugged it up a little too much this time

Lol, while researching he should have scrolled down and read the bold red text that said don't do that idiot!

Haha, my point exactly.

You've seemed to do more research on the mod itself, and venting?

It's unfortunate to see this stuff on the news where politicians and other alarmists can see it.
Vaping is a new thing. This guy says, I dont know what happened, I just pressed the button and boom.

If he were driving a Ferrari 200 mph and hit a pole and said, I dont know what happened, I just kept the throttle to the floor and boom.

People would see that and say, well, that's what happens when you dont use common sense behind the wheel. The Ferrari is not dangerous, you just dont know what you're doing.

I was curious and googled the pharaoh, I saw the button in the video that looked like the simple button but wanted to see what style top it had.

Venting happens when you are pulling a higher discharge rate than the battery can handle. It happens slowly, a hard short can be a boom.
I haven't vented a vape cell or a lipo racing rc cars. That goes back to lipo's infancy like over 10 years ago. If handled propperly, they are not dangerous and shouldn't be feared.
Cameras were scary to people at one time :D

When I googled it there were listings of them for $25 - $40, not sure if that's a well priced authentic or if $25 is a clone price.
Demand vape doesn't seem to want to give you a price without creating an account..

I bet you anything he cranked down tightening up the button and either created a dimple on the top of the cell or just simply pushed the center pin on the tank up and contacted the negative.

Was probably getting a warm button from lack of maintenance and thought tighter would give a better connection.

Isn't venting what causes the "boom" though? At least in imr batteries. Quick build up of gases that can't escape the tube/battery casing quickly enough, causing a build up of too much pressure causing it to explode?
Lipos are a different story, I have seen explosions in well ventilated conditions. Erupting into a fire ball? Imrs release a gas rather than flames.
Or am I completely wrong and need to attend battery school?

I have no doubt it was the dead short he created by using a subohm tank on a hybrid btw. Obviously that's what caused this. And idc it's well known in the vaping world, not to do that, whether it says it on the box or not. Shit I want to say even FT says not to do it.

Yes and no, venting can go boom but you get a lot of time to deal with it before take off.
Venting is usually from people trying to pull the burst rate amp for too long when they should buid to the constant amp rate or close to it.

Venting isnt that bad if it doesn't happen in a sealed container, a battery can vent for up to a minute and then just fizzle out.

A short will cause a reaction in the cell that is a lot more volitile.
