I have a SMOK GX350 and got a Timeout Error (almost like it was melting down), now it won't turn on.
Is it dead or can I do something to get it running again?
Was it the mod that was hissing, or the atomizer?
SMOK Baby V2 A2 & K1.
I switched to a new one, but when the mod boots I see it light up. but when I click 5 times to turn it on nothing happens
Well, without physically examining the mod, atomizer, batteries it sounds like a few issues.
- You vented batteries that had ran out their life cycle.
- The atomizer somehow caused a "dead" short, leading to above. Debris, too tight can cause that.
- It's a Smok mod ergo it "bricked" simply because.
- You're not sure where the hissing or heat come from but got startled. That's understandable too.
Be aware though for next time, getting startled and panicking is counter productive. I'm not saying this so you just go on your merry way and let a battery blow up in your face.
I am saying it so you stay calm and can get an idea what is actually happening. You have a bit of time before everything fully goes South on you. Make the best use of it and quickly explore possible scenarios.
See if your atomizer is screwed down too tight. It only needs to be snug and not gorilla gripped tight. Check to see if there's any loose metal flakes in your 510 connector on the mod.
Check the batteries for deformities, burns. Get an idea of how many cycles you've put on the batteries. Be sure you got the batteries from a reputable source and not off Ebay or Amazon. Here's a quick way to check if you got good batteries.
Please do what others advised and buy yourself some new batteries from a reliable source, as in, a company that doesn't sell rewraps. Liion Wholesale, IMR Batteries.com, 18650Batterystore.com, illumn.com.
Follow her advice, she's not steering you wrong. Though I will point out IMR Batteries does sell re-wrapped batteries. They do so not for deceptive or nefarious means though.
IMR uses their own wrap material which is double thick what most battery manufactures use. What they say they're selling, they are selling. They use more durable wrap to protect customers and keep their inventory sorted.
Not had any of IMR's batteries ever cause an issue except in the case of end of life. And that's a matter of user forgetfulness, not on IMR at all. All in you can trust batteries from IMR. I do.
Another thing to check is the ohm rating of your coil/s. Use an ohm meter separate from your mods. For a long time it used to be most regulated mods would not fire below 0.20 ohms.
Now, they go even lower but most still have a safety shut off. If you're building too low ohms your mod/s might not work. Get to know the mod's manual. I know it's a pain to read but sometimes it can save hassle.
Now, let me apologize and offer up "The Standard Disclaimers". I apologize if this reads in a way that paints me as being an a-hole. Didn't intend that reflection nor am I generally an a-hole.
I'm just trying to offer some basic advice you're free to take or leave. Hope it somehow helps.
If you need 'em, ...
